By chance, this was our first stop after we landed on Vancouver Island by ferry. I wasn't even aware that the store was on my schedule for the following day. We had an ice cream in the best weather and what can I say, I couldn't go past the popcorn either. Both were expensive, but so delicious that we stopped by here again on the last day Vancouver Island to stock up:)
By the way, the parking lot is right next to the start for the short hike to the "Hole in the Wall" and can be connected so wonderfully.

Decided to end my day with an ice cream so stopped in on way to Port Alberni. Was not disappointed. The young lady who served me talked me into trying Gelato for the first time and I was NOT disappointed. I got a child Sized cup and was allowed two different flavours!! It was refreshing and tasty!!

What a great candy shop! There seems to be something for everyone here. They have the best peanut brittle ever & carry various other nuts brittle. Varieties of popcorn with caramel, nuts, chocolate. Caramel apples are always a treat & of course, their many assortments of chocolates, fudge, ice cream/gelato & many other wonderful candy. They have added different products each time we shop there.

I ordered tiger butter from this company as I cannot find it anywhere else and Purdy's stopped making it. This was during the Canada Post strike so they used Loomis courier. The shipping was $20. The candy was $16. This was a special gift for my father for Christmas.
I got a call from Loomis that they don't deliver to my address DESPITE being within Kamloops city limits. So I had to do a 50 minute drive return trip to go and pick it up. When I opened up the box, the tiger butter was in rectangular slabs and several were broken. I contacted the store to ask for my money back and they refused. Will never purchase from them again.

Tried this place out because of the advertised candy selection. When entering before even thinking a staff member jumped on me about hand sanitizer. I was going to use it but didn't need to be barked at. I have a food allergy and asked about what was in a product. There were no ingredients on the packaging. The same person who was on me about sanitizer didn't know what was in their products and didn't even try to find out. We asked if there was someone who knew and she shrugged saying they weren't there and was very curt and uncaring. It looks like lots of good stuff but we won't be back.

We frequent this place for their selection of vegan chocolates and iced cream! I’d say we go weekly for an ice cream! Staff is always super nice and it’s very welcoming! A nice place to sit and have a snack!

This Candy & Ice cream shop is a hidden gem in Port Alberni. Everything is made from scratch with TLC! It’s rare to find a business that’s owned and operated independently, and puts so much care into creating such wonderful treats for all to enjoy.
During the holidays, every year you can even go down for complimentary, bottomless, in house made hot chocolate, and dip fudge into the chocolate fountain! FUN 🤩

It used to be that folks from the Alberni Valley thought that the best ice cream in the world was at Whiskey Creek. There may be a contender in this mis-named business. I say mis-named because the Coombs Country Store is in Port Alberni, (not Coombs) located as you enter the Valley. The ice cream and gelato available are of the highest quality, very creamy, with interesting flavours. There is room to digest your treat either inside or out. We paid $3 each for a single scoop waffle cone that was an adult helping of this creamy treat.

Someone really smart runs Coombs because every year it's better. We love to wander the market and find the neat stuff they carry that we can't find elsewhere. The Italian restaurant that was added a few years ago is just excellent.

A great place to stop for ice cream and a coffee on the road. They also sell fudge, popcorn, candied nuts and just above everything else sweet you can think of! The ice cream was a personal highlight and the portions are absolutely enormous!!!
