This is a great place to go for a nice walk along the dykes of the Coquitlam river. I went there twice in the last 2 weeks with my sons dog. The first time from the main parking lot by the Indian Reservation and the second from the parking lot by the Lougheed Hwy. The views are very nice with the mountains and the river as your backdrop.the occasional eagle and lots of ducks. The dyke is shared with bike riders somyou need to be aware of them. There are washroom facilities at the main parking lot and none at the Lougheed Hwy parking area.

This is a wonderful place to walk and enjoy nature just a few minutes from the city. There are many species of bird here. We see herons and hawks every time we're there. There is a pond at the north end where waterfowl gather. A very nice place to spend an hour or two.

A great stop. Many trails. Perfect for dog walkers...bicycle enthusiasts...or a place to sit on one of many benches and bird watch.

Negatives: Difficult to access without bike or car. Parking lots almost full, not even noon yet. Access to Fraser River blocked off, no reasons given as to why. Narrow trails with cyclists ignoring the "walk bikes" request.
Positives: Washrooms. good mapping & brochures. Flat. Good access to Coquitlam River. Access to Traboulay Trail.
As there are quite a number of access points to both the Fraser and Coquitlam Rivers, I suggest out-of-towners and others relying on public transit may wish to consider alternatives to this site.

Great flat walk along the dikes in Colony farm. No problem for families with young kids. Bring your bikes if you want, as it it is a a wide gravel path. Lots to look at and many different types of birds to spot. My only caution is to lock your valuables in your trunk (or take them with you) as lots of cars have been broken into in the parking lot closest to Lougheed Hwy. You can also park closer to the river if you follow the road in.

Great leisurely hike for the entire family. Flat with nice scenery, even the youngest of our family enjoyed it! There were people fishing, biking, jogging. Definitely a multi use trail.

This used to be a fully operational farm that operated by the Forensic Facility on site. There are many areas to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are lots of opportunities to see local wildlife including deer, bear, coyotes and lots of waterfowl.

We live in 100 meters from this park. I'm running and biking here frequently.
Usually there are not too much people here and a lot of birds and animals. I watch frequently a family of otters. If you lucky you can see coyotes. Once it was a beaver, and couple times bears. Two times a seal dived near a bridge while high tide. Small snakes, don't miss them on roads and trails.
Bum has a permanent residence here more than a year (go a trail under Mary Bypass hwy and turn left to the Coquitlam river, and share a good company with good man.
Coquitlam band sold 1/3 of the park land to the builders and now this land is a trademark of how one of the greatest Vancouver park can be devastated. Poor people, they have to live somehow.
There is a small garden cooperative near the band village with flowers, fruits, vegies, and tiny greenhouses.
Seems this park will not survive the next years.

This place is awesome!

The bird life is unbelievable with everything from small LBJ's to birds of such vivid colours through to harriers and eagles.

Whilst we were on holiday nearby for two weeks we came here three times and not once did we leave disappointed. We also saw a beaver up close in one of the creeks and also plenty of evidence of bear activity.

If you are in the Tri Cities area come here and relax.

Plus it's free so even better!
