Shame on Parks Canada for not having a Trail Closed sign marked on the highway. People were parking and getting ready for the walk, only to get to the first bridge and find out the trail is closed. Mark it on the Highway signs !!! So simple to do to safe traffic hassles and peoples' time.

The entirety of the trail is not open at all. The part that we walked was good. Open up the entire trail.

We stopped here on our drive to Golden as a way to combine a short rest stop with the beautiful outdoors and it was very enjoyable.
The boardwalk runs the full length/loop of the walk as it allows you to walk/explore the wetlands in this area. It took us about 30 mins to complete. It is primarily flat with the occasional slight incline....during our visit here we even saw an older woman walking it using a walker. There is one section of the loop that is currently closed for rebuilding as the support foundations appear to have softened in the water and consequently deteriorated and warped - the rest of the boardwalk was sturdy and safe with several gripping screens on areas of incline/decline to prevent one from slipping in wet weather.
At the start of the boardwalk there are washrooms and picnic tables so you can spend as much time here as you desire.
We found our stop here very worthwhile and enjoyable.

Short trail over a boardwalk.
Saw a few nice birds here but also a pretty cool Musk Rat!
Good for families with kids I would say.

A great opportunity to stretch your legs when on the road, a not too long boardwalk trail. Early in the year when there's still quite a lot of snow around, if the boardwalk is clear, is the best time to bundle up and enjoy the stroll. The Skunk Cabbage themselves open in early spring, and they are a kind of Permian looking sight to behold. It looks primitive and odd, and the name is earned fairly. It's a beautiful wetland stroll any time of year, but is most interesting in the spring.

At first glance, the 1km skunk cabbage trail resembles many other boardwalks that I have taken through marshes. But if you take the time to read the signs posted along the way, you will learn that this trail is in a rare ecosystem as this marsh is in the mountains. What that amounts to is that it is home to the impressive skunk cabbage plants for which the trail is named, as well as a number of songbirds including one species of tropical birds that return here annually for two months each summer. So whether you are looking for a short trail to just stretch your legs on a long drive or if you have an interest in the natural environment, you won't regret stopping in at this park.

This is an amazing 1.2 kilometer walk on the boardwalk that takes you through a very marshy area. If you are into birdwatching, apparently this is one of the premier places to go to find many species.
The highlight of this walk is of course the skunk cabbage and I challenge you to find plants this big anywhere else! They are huge! Coming from the lower mainland, I am used to seeing skunk cabbage in the forests all the time, but nothing of this size.
The board walk is an interesting thing, not sure if the design is on purpose or if it has settled or what, but for many parts of it, it is way off being level, its kind of funny to look at.
There are several spots along the way where you can climb up onto an observation area where you can watch birds, etc. There are benches on the observation areas.
The entire boardwalk, with the exception of look outs would be wheelchair accessible, however, I previously did mention that many parts of the boardwalk are off camber, so caution should be used.
It's a very interesting place to visit, especially given its location and short growing season.
Parking is easy and trailer friendly, maybe a bit tight for the big rigs..there is also a picnic area and flushing toilets.

difficult to describe this place! a great boardwalk through trees and giant cabbage like plants - Dr WHo would be at home here! some nice birds to see, lots of hummingbirds, if the weather is warm. Interesting stop over to break up the monotony of the main road. Interesting to note that the skunk cabbage is a favourite food for bears - watch your backs!!
