A Winding 26 kilometre uphill road, took us through the flourishing forests, a few fabulous view points and finally up to Balsam Lake parking area. There was a beautiful park ranger to meet the adventurers. From there we have 2 choices, a short hike up to Heather Lake summit area or take a free shuttle bus. At Heather Lake summit... More

We visited the park mid morning on a blue sky day and loved the viewpoints as we went on the good paved road to the summit. Apparently there can be cars parked a kilometre back from the parking lots, which fill fast. Weary morning is the best time to visit because of crowds. A shuttle van goes from the parking... More

We drove the Meadows in the Sky Parkway and it was fantastic. At the top we hiked to Eva Lake and Miller lake through some of the most colorful meadows we have ever hiked in. Although there was some Grizzly Bear activity in the area we did not see or hear of anyone seeing any bears at all. All of... More

Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice place to go for a brisk hike. But you're really not missing much if you skip this park exhibit on your itinerary. The drive is about 15 minutes from the TransCanada up to the parking lot summit. Several switchbacks that need to be driven with caution, and several roadside pullouts to... More

The drive up to The Meadow in the Sky was breath taking because of the views. Once we reached the car park we were able to catch a bus up to the top. Walking was an option but there had been some bear activity so we decided that the bus was the best option. We saw a beaver and chipmunk... More

We went in August and the flowers were in bloom and the scenery was fantastic, but we could not go on the trails as the bears have made their appearance in a big way this summer. Everything was roped off which was a shame but I understand the safety factor. Still worth going if you are in the area...remember it... More

We decided to take the trip up this parkway, on the auspice of the great views. But the trip is mostly blocked out by the big trees save for 3 or 4 pull overs, that can be packed with tourists wanting to see the views. The trip itself will take at least 20 minutes as it is a series of... More

If you like views of the valleys and mountains this fits the bill. On to of that the short hikes are great and if interested you can take the longer hikes which can be done in a day for experienced hikers or as overnighters.

Drive up well paved road about 20 Kms. Lots of switchbacks. Some pull offs with views on the way. Park in parking lot and catch the free shuttle to the top just a short ride. Many hiking trails but may be limited due to bear activity. If you only do one hike make sure it is the short one to... More

As we were en route to the heart of the Rockies, this was a good introduction to the mountains with great alpine views and pretty wildflowers. It's brilliant (especially for those who are either not capable or confident walking distances) that it's possible to drive to a mountain top. The downside is that it is popular, but there were no...
