If you come here make sure you look up tour times and get there for one. You can enter for $8 adults and $7 kids. You can walk around yourself but at no extra cost you can join a tour. It's really worth it as it is informative and stops you having to read loads of info whilst kids want to get on.

At the end are electrical interactive displays which are great for the kids.

Honestly I wasn't looking forward to this but once I got there it was an impressive sight! The kids loved the interactive education area and the tour was done very well. Our tour guide knew alot about the dam and its history. It was a great experience.

A first-rate tour --- casual, comfortable, very informative. The engineering surrounding the dam is very interesting particularly the recent addition of turbine #5. The film about moving #5 to the dam is mindboggling given the logistics. Really good exhibits. Highly recommended unless dams just bore you.

Visiting the dam was interesting. It is interesting how this was built, there are several interactive games that kids can play to make the overall experience fun, but overall I doubt if many kids would leave here wanting to go back. For me it was enjoyable, but this was mostly due to the history of the dam and how it was constructed

We came late and had only 45 minutes before closure of the dam visitor centre. The officials did show us a shortcut to the elevator which brought us high up to the dam crest. We found an amazing view into the mountains as well as into the depth of the powerhouse. Our daughter enjoyed the various electrical experiments she could perform afterwards in the visitors centre.

Growing up in So Cal, I visited the Hoover Dam quite a few times. It's been more than a few years since I've been there, but the memories of those trips are still strongly engrained in my memories. Now that I'm a father, taking my kids to a dam like Revelstoke is pretty neat. They get to see the marvel of human engineering and observe firsthand the power of nature. The Revelstoke Dam was impressive. We took the guided tour, and our tour guide Ciera was knowledgeable and upbeat. It was unfortunately that we were the first group of the day, so the energy from the group was a bit lacking. The view from a top the dam was spectacular, but so are most views in this part of the country. I actually learned quite a few things on the tour and wandering around the interactive areas.

This is a very interesting place to go to see how a dam works, how one is built and how it generates electricity. From inside, you can actually see the tops of the turbines that generate the electricity.
The tour takes you down into the bowels of the damn (an excellent place to cool off in summer), and then up an elevator to the top of the dam and an observation platform.
There are lots of educational things to learn about hydroelectric power and damns at the Revelstoke Dam visitor center.
Only downside, it now costs money, this used to be free since they first opened, but a few years back, they decided to start charging.

This was on my list of things to see in Revelstoke. My kids are 9 & 5 year old boys and a 7 year old girl. It was quite the sight! Interesting for me due to it's historical information, great for my tradesman husband because of the "man" power aspect and the construction of it, and my kids enjoyed the vastness. There are lots of electricity stations for my kids to see and play with too. It was only $15 for my family of 5 and only about a 20 min drive from Lamplighter Campground.

Went on The guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was more than happy to answer everyone's questions. Not much of a gift shop, but the sight was amazing.

We read positive reviews about the visitor centre here and as it was a wet morning we paid a visit. There is a load of information about the building of the dam and its function, as well as a brilliant film about how the most recent turbine was built and transported from Brazil. It is possible to take a lift up to the top and take in the sheer size of the project.
