You will enjoy the great ocean view while strolling around the Sidney Pier. Please bring along a sweater during fall season because it could be windy.

Lots of charm and very scenic. Wandered on the beach looking for shells and treasures with the kids.

Nice spot to look over the bay. A good Fish Market and a good restaurant are also there. Nice to go there for a little walk.

This is a very short pier but a great place to watch the setting sun, boats and a distant whale if you are lucky. I am in love with Nova Scotia.

You're on Beacon Avenue and you just keep on walking over the water. They even have a small area where children can borrow, for free, proper PFDs so that they're safe on or around the water. Whether you're watching a sailing race or just people...More

What's to say about a peir? Well, everybody's doing it so it must be for a reason. It's along the walkway on the waterfront, not a long walk but I think it's worth the effort. On the weekend you'll find plenty of crab fishers with...More

There are two piers off the 2.5 km Rotary Heart Walk. This review addresses the Sidney Fishing Pier, an L-shaped structure which, from signage, appears to have an 'artificial reef' along its length (Underwater Fish Structures); although on a fairly choppy, misty day these weren't...More

I was in Sidney with a couple of hours and I decided to check out the Sidney Pier. The park was the cleanest I have ever seen. The park has nice views of the Salish Sea. Worth checking out if you’re in town and have...More

planning 3 days in Victoria area (4 Replies)
My husband and I will be spending US Thanksgiving in Victoria. We plan to stay 3 nights arriving from Port Angeles early morning. We don't need to spend a lot of time in the inner harbor area, have done that many times, but want to explore neighborhoods on our way to UVIC where our daughter will be going in January. We are thinking of staying in Sidney or somewhere near by. We thought we would want to take a day trip to Salt Spring Island or another island and maybe explore in the direction...More

I don't have much advise for lodging as I live here but Oak Bay is the neighbourhood that UVic is in. There aren't many hotels there but there are a few B&B's. If you have a car, where you stay won't matter much. US Thanksgiving is at the end of November correct? Be prepared for rain. Of course, being from Seattle I'm sure you will be.

Where to dine in/near Sidney (4 Replies)
Staying at the Sidney Pier next week (birthday celebration). Could anyone make dining recommendations? If it helps to narrow it down, I live in Vancouver and some of my favourite Vancouver restaurants include: West, Shiru-Bay Izakaya, and Bishop's. BTW, I will have a car, so getting around won't be an issue. Thanks!
