Online purchasing and registration very efficient
Beautiful blue skies but choppy sea conditions made for a very bumpy ride to go find the confirmed sighting of a Humpback far far out
Great to see the Salish sea islands where I live, from this perspective. The captain was knowledgeable and proficient at getting us to the site whilst keeping his distance from the gloriously graceful whale.
The only footnote I have which from today no longer applies was that despite the booking clerk saying we should wear masks the captain said no which was all very well if you are in your own bubble and yes LOTS of fresh air blowing around but my husband had to sit shoulder to shoulder with a girl who would not put her mask on when she was trying to converse with us even though we said we’d prefer it. There should have been just one policy on a crowded boat like this

The experience was beyond our expectation. Dave, the captain of our boat, was highly experienced and knowledgeable. We watched at least 3 humpback whales and later a herd of killer whales. It was thrilling when an 80,000-ton humpback whale moaned and emerged right beside our boat! Another benefit of whale watching from Sydney is that the boat ride is much shorter, which means more time watching the whales. Would definitely recommend this fun trip to our friends!

Fantastic experience. Captain Dave took us to see 2 large male Orca hunting near one of the US islands. They were within 5 metres of the boat at times and we saw them breach and tail slap. Captain Dave then took us to other islands to see birdlife and other animals. He was very knowledgeable about these subjects as well. All in all a great morning.

Although the crew were friendly and professional being unable to reserve for the return trip after visiting Sidney Spit/Island is very problematic! We took the 11:30am ferry to the island and wanted to return on the 2:30pm ferry. We were able to reserve to go to the island but were not allowed to reserve to come back. We were advised that because of heavy traffic we should line up to come back at least 3/4 of an hour before departure. This is very inconvenient in that we had to line up on the dock that provided no seating, no shade from the heat of the day, no handicap accommodation, & little children became restless having to stand quietly for extended time. If we did not get on that ferry we then had to wait until the last ferry at 4:30pm. If all the visitors to the island waited for the last ferry of the day how does everyone get home & this is an inconvenience if you have made future plans for the rest of the day. As residents of Sidney that like to take visitors to the island we will not be going again until we can reserve to come back. This policy made our visit for that day a real disappointment!

Before we got on boat, operator showed all the recorded pings that day from Other operators, plus they radio each other. He said we will go to a humpback location. We boated for hour then we got to site with many other operators to see one humpback that really we just seen slightly surface , we stayed way too long, and then he went thru north/ south Pender to find no other whale sightings. Knowing that he early showed us many sightings of humpback in other locations for that day.. Boat operator ask if we had questions. Of what a one humpback that he mentioned that he could not identify because the fluke did not surface. Boat operator only did the basic so he met the quarantee requirements of whale sighting.Just a long boat ride.. As a local will not recommend.

A great day with Captain Dave. We went out to the Georgia Strait to see two humpback whales and then when the heard orcas had been spotted he took us off to the San Juan Islands where three orcas were busily hunting seals. Dave was also very knowledgeable about the areas we were boating in and answered plenty of questions. A great day and we’ll be sure to recommend to visitors in future.

Absolute stunning day from start to finish.

Fun all the way from putting on the suits, to bouncing over the reasonably rough ocean, to seeing two pods of killer whales and a group of harbour seals!! Recommend this to everyone!!!

Efficient and friendly staff.
Warm and confortable suit to enjoy the ride without freezing.
We really appreciate the small and fast boat which allows to move fast between various locations and to enjoy a perfect sight.
The driver was excellent for riding, explaining and finding games to watch.
We saw only 2 orcas but the ride between islands was awesome !

Highly recommend Sidney Whale Watching to anyone visiting Victoria. We did not see any whales on our first trip (we went during shoulder season) but had a great time touring around and seeing other wildlife like seals, sea lions, porpoise and eagles. We were able to join a tour the next day (without paying extra!), and saw whales within 15 minutes of leaving the dock. I was very impressed with how respectful they are of the whales - it never felt like we were disturbing or causing stress for the whales. Our skipper Adrian was very knowledgeable about the whale population and local wildlife, and was a great guide. Overall great experience and excellent service from the whole team. We will definitely be back!

I loved the 5pm time slot on a beautiful day. The glow on the land and water adds to an amazing viewing experience. O’Reilly is amazing at what he does and clearly enjoys his job. The 360 at the end of the trip was awesome too! Saw orcas hunting and breaching. I could do this trip every day.
