I use this trail every work day. It's even better since North Saanich repaved their portion and Central Saanich covered the stone path with asphalt. In BC many of the sidewalks are incorporated with the road (ei. no curbs but a white line).

I'm a senior and do a lot of walking but not much cycling (so far this year I've only been out once!) . So tackling the Lochside Trail was scary- it shouldn't have been. Perfectly flat (well there were a couple of very easy slopes). With lots of fun photos stops, food and drink. About a 1/4 of it is... More

The Lochside trail goes from the BC ferry terminal at Swartze Bay to join the Galloping Goose trail in Victoria. Mostly following an abandoned rail line, it is essentially level the entire way. Great cycling or walking. Because it crosses numerous roads you can join it ant many places and walk or ride as big a section as you want.... More

This trail is both paved and hard packed so works for all kinds of bikes and walkers. The scenery is great, no car traffic and restaurants along the way. You can go from Sidney to Sooke and take side trips if you like

I have done this trail several times, when staying on vacation around Victoria. Typically we hire bikes from the shop at the centre of Victoria and then head off, to follow the Galloping Goose trail and/or the Lochside Trail. The Lochside trail is about 3 hours from around Victoria to Sidney, including at least one lengthy coffee stop at Mattick's... More

We've ridden this trail twice from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to Victoria and back. It is such an enjoyable, safe, easy ride theough the picturesque country side and right into the city. Any age group can do this ride and take it at their own pace. They even provide some water and air stations along the trail. It is... More

Lochside Trail goes all the way from Sydney to Victoria and joins the longer Galloping Goose Trails. The nice walk starts at the Sydney pier and meanderings along the shore south towards Victoria. At parts, you have to either walk on the beach or face fairly busy traffic along a road with very little shoulder and no sidewalks.

Very nice ride from BC Ferries to Victoria. Some road riding but most has a bicycle lane. All is very flat and can be ridden by even the most novice riders. Ties into the well laid out bike routes in Victoria and the wonderful Galloping Goose trail all the way out to Sooke and Leachtown.

Good trail for biking and walking, it is about 6 km walk from golf course to the farm and back. Relax and have ice cream or tea after the walk.
