Established in 1971, the Sidney Museum has served the community of Sidney and North Saanich since then. Run by the Society of Saanich Peninsula Museums, the museum promotes awareness of local heritage through exhibits, programs, and collections. Its permanent collection consists of over 6000 items. In addition to its permanent exhibits, the museum also features rotating monthly exhibits. These temporary exhibits include everything from an annual Quilting display, a Teddy Bear Christmas Display, and of course the famous 3-month long Lego Exhibit. The Society of Saanich Peninsula Museums is a non-profit organization, and the Museum is open to the public by donation.

Tucked away downstairs in the historic post office building, lies a treasure trove of Sidney's past. A surprisingly good collection of artifacts and photos, and a goldmine of information. I waited too long to go, and one visit is not enough!

This museum is in a basement under some offices. If you didn't know where to look, you'd miss it. It's got a very small entrance and low ceilings for the first part. It seems to be three sections of the building as you can meander...More

Sidney Museum is a quirky little thing... it's located below street level on Sidney's main street. Visitors wander up and down short flights of stairs and meander through twists and turns and short corridors. Needless to say it would be difficult for anyone with mobility...More

This was a wonderful little museum along the shore in Sidney. It was informative and the jelly fish are awesome. It was a great break from the heat the day we were there. We all enjoyed it and would recommend it for all ages.
