The Aviation Museum, run almost entirely by volunteers, is well worth a visit. It’s conveniently situated by the Victoria Airport. There are planes and Links, the precursors to flight simulators for training purposes. The walls are covered in photographs and stories, and there are many examples of uniforms through the age of flight.

Some of the stories and accompanying photographs are heart wrenching, especially when you see how young the pilots were.

There’s a large hangar where restoration is continually on the go as the museum acquires more objects.

Volunteers are on hand to guide you: they themselves tell fascinating stories. There are miniature planes etc for children to try as well: the kids we saw were having a wonderful time on them.

Our visit ended with a look around the interesting gift shop. A thoroughly enjoyable visit at a very reasonable entry fee.

We thought it would be very nice on a rainy day to visit an attraction in Sidney. Have not been to the museum in a long time and wanted to see what had possibly changed in the last 15 years. WOW is all I can say! So many excellent exibits and the varries eras of flight were very well placed. Alex, our personal guide knew everything about all of it. Was very pleasant, as all of the volunteers were, and spent over an hour giving us answers and knowledge on it all. Best day in a museum EVER. Highly recommend it to everyone, especially younger kids that should see what these airmen had to fly in during the wars etc. Real eye openner!

My husband is the Aircraft enthusiast so we decided to go to this museum. I am very glad I agreed, the museum is very interesting, but the people that work/volunteer there are amazing people. They are genuine and kind individuals, their passion for the history in the museum is like none I have ever experienced before.

This is a really nice museum. I have recommended it many times. Children and adults alike find it interesting. The volunteers are so knowledgeable, kind and friendly and the price of admission is very good. We went to the open house there and it was fabulous. Well worth the visit.

Small, but packed with wonderful displays! You can get up close, and even go inside some of the planes. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide will escort you around. Great place!

Situated on the perimeter of Victoria Airport. From the centre of Sidney, less than a ten minute drive.

Reasonable entrance fee, but cash only cards were not accepted.

Good selection of well preserved aircraft, all bar one housed in two adjoining hangars.
The volunteer staff are happy to guide you around on a free tour. Our guide happily spent around an hour with us. You are equally welcome to wander yourself.
A separate restoration area had a couple of items in. To see these and learn more, you need to be escorted by the guide. This is more to do with health and safety as it is a workshop.

For the average tourist without an aviation interest, a good hour may be spent. More if aviation is your passion and you want to photograph the exhibits etc.

Most of the aircraft are for external viewing only. The Vickers Viscount however may be boarded for a walk through.

The museum lacks a refreshment area. After (or before) your visit, call at Spitfire grill – less than 5 minutes away by car. Continue around the airport perimeter (see separate review). Staff will point you in the right direction.

Excellent museum, deserves support.

This museum is actually British Columbia's provincial vintage air museum. It is not an "out there" attraction (it should be). Totally staffed by volunteers who do all the restorations. I recently attended an open house by donation. My third visit over a dozen years. The majority of aircraft are indoors. A bonus is being able to visit the restoration hanger to view projects in progress. I will return.

Took a buddy of mine today to celebrate his birthday. I haven't visited in a few years, nor had he, so we took our time marvelling at the exhibits. One always learns something new each time you go and today was no exception. Lyle, our volunteer docent, was a wealth of information and took us into the restoration area to view a work-in-progress Lancaster bomber. The Merlin engines were enormous and the goal is to get the beast to fly again.

Later we toured the TCA VIscount cabin and saw how much LEGROOM has changed in 50 years.

The photographs were informative and the model aircraft well displayed around the walls with some beautifully restored vintage aircraft in the center of the two hangars.

YOu need to look "UP" or you will miss lots.

Great for kids of all ages

Visited them before flying out of Victoria airport.

Got shown around the site by Robbie, who provided lots of anecdotes. Also got to see what the team is doing restoring an Avro Lancaster.

Great collection of scale models (in the 1000s) donated from an deceased hobbyists collection. Also a good collection of real aircraft.

Overall, a great visit.
