Unfortunately, on a bad day (wind, mechanical issues), you are stuck on the island/mainland with no other way of getting to the other side. The reservation system needs to be improved. There are too many who line up hoping to get on the next ferry...More

Ferries are clean, including the washrooms. Personnel are friendly and helpful to answer questions. We usually reserve our spot, so we don't have to wait longer for the next ferry, especially during peak seasons. The cafeteria has a good variety of food and we usually...More

We live on Vancouver Island and we use this service regularly. The ship has plenty of seating choices. Both trips as foot passengers were uncongested. The ship was clean and maintained from an observation point of view including cafeteria and washroom.

Traveling from Vancouver Island (Nanaimo) to the mainland frequently will cost you $$$$$ and time. Long wait times especially during the summer months; the ferries fill up so quickly, I'd suggest a reservation if you know well in advance of your traveling dates. No discount...More

There is a good choice of eating venues including a buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A quiet lounge (closed doors), washroom facilities are cleaned regularly. Just an ALL AROUND great ferry! Often if there is a whale or pods of Orcas, the Captain makes...More

Aside from the rates climbing every year I’ve always loved riding the ferries since I was little girl. They have gotten more and more busy with hours of long waits though. The economy has been on the rise and ferry scheduling rarely increases to accommodate...More

No not really. You can take a bus into Vancouver from the US and then public transit to the ferry or a bus that goes to Victoria and goes on the ferry with you. Bon voyage.
