About
Lake of the Woods Brewing company is located in a 100+ year old historic fire hall in down town Kenora, ON. We brew all of our beer onsite with pride and careful attention to detail. The old fire truck bay has been converted into a taproom and eatery with a selection of our house-made beers on tap and a pub fare menu using local ingredients. The space features original ceramic brick walls, fireman's pole, grand staircase, and historic tin ceiling. In the summer the large glass garage doors for the old fire truck bay open to our patio and transform the entire inside space in to an open air dining experience. Our Beer & Gear store offers a selection of our beer in cans and growlers for takeaway as well as an assortment of premium swag. Stop by and see us! MAKE IT LAKE TIME.

very busy very quickly after opening at 4pm. We quickly were ushered to a booth and and received menus...it was 2 for 1 chicken wings night so how could be resist. Ordered a flight of beers...above average and very tasty. Wings quickly arrived and while it did not look like much (2 lb) we were full soon. Great atmosphere...not sure if the patrons were all local or visitors like us. But a very friendly vibe - it has a very comfortable local feel We ill be back on our nest visit to Kenora (a bit of a hike from Vancouver).

Hosted a pre wedding gathering in the room upstairs. The service was good, as was the food. Lovely old room, with huge antique wood bar. Great atmosphere for a party. Warm and inviting.

I visit family in Kenora regularly and try to stop by LOTW Brewery each time to see what's new and to pick up a growler. The last three times I stopped by, the particular beer I wanted was not "on tap" for refilling growlers. But, they did have the beer in new growlers in their fridge. The brewery has a policy of not swapping out used growlers for a full one in the fridge (every other brewery I know that fills growlers will swap!). So the only way I can get the beer I want is to buy a new growler for another 5 dollars, I have 4 already, and I don't need a new one every time I want to buy beer - so what a stupid policy! So this time I opted to fill my growler with a beer I didn't really want. Disappointing to say the least, especially given the girl filling the growlers was less than pleasant, and not sufficiently skilled to be pouring, because she filled it with so much head that there was close to 5 inches of air in the growler when I got home! So even though I tend to like most of LOTW Brewery's beers, I will think long and hard about giving them any more of my hard earned money until they change their growler policy and perhaps get some staff with a better concept of customer service!

Hi RK,
I would first like to apologize for our late response to this review. We appreciate our customers feedback, whether positive or negative, so thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. I also apologize for your poor experience in our retail store in regards to our growler refill station. We emphasize with our staff that friendly and helpful service is a must, so I'm sorry that the employee that was refilling your growler was poorly trained at the retail station and with friendly service. I know I'm a year behind, but I would still like to make this up to you. If you ever find yourself in Kenora again, please email me at ashley@lowbrewco.com so that I can ensure that your next visit is more pleasant than the last, and so we can ensure that you get the beer that you want.
Warm regards,
Ashley

Put our names on a wait list for a table on a Thursday afternoon- was told to get beer from the bar and sit outside. After waiting for the beers, we arrived outside to find no tables available. We were told we couldn’t drink outside and couldn’t drink inside anywhere.. but at one point while we were waiting eight tables opened up or were empty for more than 40 minutes. After 45 minutes of standing, not being allowed to sit at an empty table to eat and drink, we were told to go outside where a table opened up in the rain.
I was happy to see this brewery open up but extremely disappointed in their service. Do not recommend.

oh man the wait for a hungry traveller was just too much. I ordered a Caesar salad. Who would have thunk there would be half a red onion added. Caesar salad....red onions ... NO. Ok the menu did say onion would be in the salad but I didn't think there would be enough to overpower the garlic. Wait... I think there wasn't garlic just onion. It's all I could taste. This is a pseudo trendy place that isn't what the building is. It's all smoke and mirrors once you see the tremendous building you can then say you've been. There is nothing more to the lake of the woods brewing than that

Hi KP,
Sorry for the late reply to your review back in August! We appreciate all feedback we receive from customers, whether negative or positive, as it allows us to grow as a company. So, thank you for taking the time to provide us with your thoughts about your visit. Sorry to hear that the caesar salad had too much red onion for your liking. We're more than happy to add/remove ingredients from our order if there is anything that you don't want. I'm also sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the atmosphere of the brewery as well. Maybe next time you're around, we can give you a brewery tour so that you can hear a bit more about our history and about the process we use to make our beer.
Cheers,
Ashley

This is a great pub, housed in a converted heritage fire hall. The craft beer is excellent. The food is good, even for vegetarians like me! In warmer weather the front of the building - formerly the fire hall doors - roll up to open onto a patio, and allow the summer to come into the building. From time to time the venue has music concerts. We recently saw a good Chicago Blues band, Mississippi Heat. This makes for a great evening. Good place for a beer and a bite to eat just about anytime.

Hey msimkin,
Thank you for your kind words about our beer, food and building!
Mississippi Heat was a great time, we hope to have them back at some point very soon. I am very glad you had a chance to join us that night for some great music!
Hope to see you again very soon!

Very tasty generous portions, great surroundings ( old firehall) craft brews with frequent new offerings, great summertime patio. Cute "secret" little room upstairs, and a store to buy more of their good brands.

Hi pennron,
Thank you for the review of our establishment. We too are very happy with our surroundings; one of the many reasons that we chose to use this venue for our Tap Room, Brewery, and Retail Store.
Our room upstairs does not need to be a secret at all! It is a great place to gather with friends and family, and a wonderful venue for groups of up to 70 people :) Keep your ears to the ground for news about our next plan for the second floor space, we are getting pretty excitied about it :)
Thanks again for the review, we hope to see you back again soon!

LOTW Brewing Company is a welcome addition to the Kenora nightlife! It's restaurant is in an old firehouse, which gives it great character. The food is decent, but the beer selection is the reason to check it out! They brew their own beer on site, which is incredibly good. In the summer they have a tendency to run out of some of the types of beer, so you have to be prepared to try something out of your comfort zone when it comes to beer types. Overall, a great spot for a drink on a hot day in Kenora!

Hey Tyler S,
Thanks for your review of LOWBrewCo's Tap Room!
We are also very pleased with the finished product and the heritage character that exudes from the walls of this building (literally).
We are always working hard at improving our food offerings, and expect to see them ramped up yet another notch for this Spring/Summer season.
We are also working hard to ensure that we keep our three flagships available as often as possible, and continue to provide some options with seasonal assortments. We now have over a year of operations under our belt, allowing us to better predict demand cycles and prepare adequately.
Thanks again for the review, we hope to see you back again very soon!
-Graeme.

Stopped n to have lunch there. Service was a bit slow at first but ok after taking the order. The food is good,,,calamari was not spongy, the fried fish was not oily tasting and the beer was great.
There is a large variety on the menu and same goes for their in house beer selection, even have a non-alcoholic beer.
Prices are on par with other restaurants in the town.
The semi open-air restaurant is good on a fair weather day.
