About
We are located in Tower Hill Park at the base of Parry Sound's 96-foot Look-Out tower overlooking Beautiful Georgian Bay. The Museum features a changing calendar of exhibits in three galleries. Exhibits feature an extensive collection of local artifacts connected to the history of the Parry Sound District. Themes include Natural and Cultural history trapping, First Nations, nautical shipping, Logging, Agriculture and Contagion. Fine arts and special exhibits are offered throughout the year in our two temporary galleries. We offer family rates and special family events throughout the year. We have plenty of picnic tables and one of the best views in town, come spend the day with us.

The museum wasn't open but we still climbed the tower and had fun sightseeing the area.Beautiful view at the end of October, nice fall colours, trains and the water. Wish there was hand sanitizer or wipes near the tower as the handles going up were sticky and gross. Otherwise we were the only ones visiting the area at the time so no traffic and plenty of parking.

Although the Museum is closed due to COVID the park is still open. We ate a wonderful picnic lunch there surrounded by the beautiful park and peace and quiet. Would recommend a visit. Not sure if the tower was open however.

If there's one thing you do while in Parry Sound, it should be climbing the tower on Tower Hill. I've done it about ten times and it's still fun. It's the best way to see the town and surrounding area in all directions, and it's free. The 130 stairs certainly aren't daunting and you're on top before you know it. The wired enclosure offers safety for kids and the steps are very slip-proof. There are hundreds of great views to take pictures. The gardens at the base are beautiful and I recall the museum being pretty good, even though I haven't been inside in a few years. I remember that there was a decent collection of historical artifacts from bygone days. I don't know the price but I don't think it's expensive. By the way, the best tower photos I have are from last autumn, so those are the ones I've included. One last thing: it's about getting to the tower and museum: it's tricky to find if you don't know where to turn. The signs aren't very good and you can easily miss the turnoff for the road that goes up the hill. Also, that road is a steep climb for your vehicle, just so you know.

A lovely small museum set on beautifully tended grounds and landscaped gardens. Has a great local permanent collection and also a group of seven exhibit focusing on Tom Thompson. Well done.

The special visit at this time was light houses of Georgian Bay. The museum is open all year round and has a permanent exhibit of artifacts from the area...senarios about local industry etc.

Stopped in Parry Sound with family on route from Sudbury to Toronto to stretch our legs and grab a bite to eat (had an awesome meal at Maurizios - see my review there). The kids enjoyed the walk up to the top of the tower and the view. Definitely worth a quick stop.

A well appointed museum full of local history with some great displays. The highlight for us was the tower outside which offers those not crippled by a fear of heights (seriously this one gave even me vertigo!) an unparalleled eagle eye view.

The museum is worth a visit, it is a quaint local museum. The tower on the other hand is the real attraction here, it is free to climb, has a couple of lookout levels and offers a great view. I suggest climbing it in all 4 seasons for changing views. Fall during the leaf season is spectacular but Spring and Summer are also beautiful. I am going to take my own advice and try it in winter soon.

This little museum was unique. Small charge (5 dollars a head). Although is only has 2 galleries (truthfully I was expecting more), I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The building itself looks old and run down but when entering thee main floor gallery I was impressed at the little exhibits and how well put together they were as well as interactive. I work in a museum myself and love to compare and contrast. When i finished viewing the galleries we took a walk through the gardens. Very peaceful and beautiful. Finally my boyfriend and I braved the tower (Free) and were so very impressed with the beautiful view! There are 2 observation decks (one midway up, the other at the top). Highly recommend the tower if nothing else.

Climb the stairs for a fantastic view, stop at any level. The tower is the highlight but the gardens and the museum also offer interesting stop.

How do you get to the tower? Is there a fee? Hours open?
Written June 15, 2018
The day we went, the tower was open and no one was really there, since it was a windy day, so we parked the car on the street and just walked 2 mins to the tower.
When we went, it was free and it looked to be open till 6 pm.
