Our GPS on 600 West River Road Hinton took us to a smelly pulp mill industrial area. We had to stop and ask a local and he pointed us to a gravel road and eventually we were driving on West River Road to the end, and talked to another local and she said the park is just something by the Athabasca River. We finally walked to the edge of the river and took a nice sunset photo. We went back to our hotel and the front desk clerk said there is not much there at the riverfront park because Hinton is a small town. It seems to me Hinton's riverfront is all occupied by the pulp mill industry!

The road to go to this park was gravel, dusty and it's not easy to find. I'd rather call it a wood than a park. You can take the trail on the path but you would not walk along the river. There is no track next to the river bed. If you want to see the river you need to find an opening between the trees or bushes, or you can take a look the river by the boat launch area. On the way back to our car we passed a large green open space with picnic benches. The things that might be interesting are the pink birdhouses high on the trees. There are also mobile toilets. We didn't see wild animal but a squirrel and a blue jay

We went here on out trip to Hinton. It was very nice, off the beaten trail. You go down a gravel road to get there. It is maintained. The views were very nice but lots of bugs.

At first our Satnav wouldn’t find this so we had to google it. Well worth the trip. It is reached via a gravel road which looks like it is going nowhere. The park is small but beautiful and allows you to see the Athabasca River in full flow. We did a short trail through the woods which was nice. Well worth a brief stop.

During our stay there was a lot of snow. Therefor no bear was spotted. We have seen an elk, some sheeps and ducks. The roundtrip was impressive. Snow gave an extra dimension.
