About
Blackwood Lane Winery was the dream of Carlos Lee and that of his oenophile partners. Their goal was simple, to produce wines that lived up to their high standards and expectations. Their philosophy is summarized in the Company’s motto: “Bonus Vita et Bonus Amici” (Good Life and Good Friends). As wine lovers, they realized that people in the Greater Vancouver area had to travel to the Okanagan Valley in order to acquire the best wines of the province, so they decided to bring the wines to them. Accordingly, they set up their boutique winery in the heart of the Fraser Valley wine corridor, only minutes from Vancouver, on 12.2 acres of the most beautiful south facing slopes in the area. The winery has a beautiful patio and an authentic stone pizza oven!

I had been here before and had mixed feelings about returning as we had had issues with the bill on my last visit. However I decided to give it a second shot as the views are second to none, and their premium wines are excellent. But this time was even worse than the first, They lost our reservation, made a big fuss about getting me to "prove" I had booked (instead of enjoying the wines and the experience I had to spend the time scrolling through my visa bills to prove I had paid) - and then discovered that the $20 I had paid in advance was purely to "hold my spot" and everyone then had to pay an additional $20 to taste. The service was at best surly and we did not feel welcome. SO embarrassing as I had brought friends along. Will never go back.

Don't go here! Wines are terrible, we were given a tasting with plastic dollar store wine cups (because of Covid) and if we wanted glass we had to pay $8.00 to purchase a glass. Optics aren't much better. The deck overlooks a dead vineyard. No shade. Overpriced crap.

We had a great visit at Blackwood Lane, we did the 20$ tasting which was worth it to try a variety of wines. Sophie was helpful and informative and set us up on the beautiful patio to enjoy a bottle of their cab franc after which was perfect for a sunny Sunday. Quite frankly we were concerned after reading the critical reviews on here but our experience was extremely enjoyable.

We had a lovely experience at Blackwood Lane this past Saturday. I have been to the winery a few times prior to the pandemic, and their wines have always been incredible. When my girlfriends and I were planning on which winery to cycle to we had decided on Blackwood Lane. We were initially only planning on staying for a tasting, but after completing the premium tasting and purchasing some bottles for home, we quickly decided we had to sit on their patio to enjoy the beautiful view which paired lovely with our bottle of Cab Franc (perfect patio drinking wine!) You can tell that their wine is something they take immense pride in and isn’t mass produced. Their Alliance Bordeaux Style Blend is an absolute must try as well, it is excellent!

We will absolutely be returning to Blackwood Lane for another summer day to enjoy their wine on the patio.

We came as a group of 4 for a tasting which was very disappointing. The prices for tasting are ridiculous and the wines fall short of the expectation AND price. The wines were all served as a "tasting flight" in small champagne glasses which makes it impossible to swirl and properly taste the wine. If I am going to pay $30 for a tasting, then I'd like to properly taste the wine. Also, we were essentially left to our own devices with the pours and a laminated sheet with tasting notes, although nobody else was there; not exactly what I'd expect from a tasting at a winery. There are many great wineries in Langley; don't waste your time or money going there. The view and the patio were amazing though.

We arrived at 1 pm, there were 4 of us, for a wine tasting, plus we had planned to have a cheese plate and a drink on the deck.
We could only have a bottle of wine on the deck, I believe this is a B.C. Liquor issue. The cheese plate was very small, not a great selection, only one type of cracker, more for two people, but cost $25.00. It was so hot, with poor umbrellas.Seat in side was a mess, said it was under construction, but didn't look like anything was happening in there.
It was over priced and uninviting ,I was disappointed. At the end they could only take cash, as they had no wifi. Which was awkward for my friends.
It was like a house that they hung a shingle on and called it a winery....sad

Dear Scooplady -- Thank you for writing your review of your visit to our winery. Without it, we wouldn't have known that you didn't enjoy your visit! Please allow me to address your concerns... We have almost completed our beautiful new outdoor patio, which we are very excited about. We still have a facelift planned for the outside of our building, some landscaping to do, and parking lot changes. We are a work in progress. At the moment we are fortunate to have a picnic license which covers our new outdoor patio area and allows guests to enjoy a bottle of wine outside. Picnic license rules limit us to being able to sell wine only by the bottle and not by the glass. We know this can be a little inconvenient; however, we try to remember to let our customers know that should they purchase a bottle to enjoy on the patio they can take the remainder of the bottle home if having only a glass or two. The picnic license does not include our indoor solarium, so we apologize that we were unable to allow your party to sit indoors during the heat wave. The indoor solarium is set up beautifully with tables and comfortable chairs and stools for rent for private events. For these reasons we hope you will understand that this is why we didn't have it cooled and available for your party to use. The day you visited was one of the hottest days of our summer so far. It was muggy and stifling hot. You were brave to be out in it for sure! The outside table umbrellas were naturally no protection from the extreme heat. We welcome you to visit us again when the weather is cooler :). Our cheese board is made to serve two people. We apologize if no suggestion was made to your group to purchase two cheese boards for the four of you. That would have been more satisfying for your party. We have chosen a wide selection of fresh and good quality foods that complement our wines. We're very careful to keep the areas of our winery that are open to the public clean and tidy. If there was a messy area, it was not intended for the public to use. We are still completing our renovations, so we hope our guests can be understanding. The house we have converted to our wine tasting room and work area was built in the mid 1970's and has some beautiful features. The ambiance the hand hewn beams and high ceilings give is homey and comfortable. We wish for our customers to feel at home when they visit us. Wine can sometimes be a little intimidating to some who are not very familiar with it, so we like to make people feel as comfortable as possible when they visit us. Also, we like the european style of the tasting room. Every winery is different and unique and we hope that when people visit ours they will enjoy the unique experience. It was very unusual that our Wi-fi was operating too slowly at the time of your visit. We understand that it was quite uncomfortable for you. Please be assured that it was only a temporary situation. Normally all is well in that regard and purchases are processed quickly. We are sorry to hear that you and your friends did not enjoy your visit with us. We thank you for your honest feedback and hope that, should you choose to visit us again in the future, you will have a nice time.

2 of us bought gift certificates for wine tastings for 4 people each at a silent auction for Blackwood - paid good money for them.About three weeks later, noticed on the back of the business card, there was an expiry date that had already passed. I called to make sure they would still honour the gift certificates. The person on the phone said that we were out of luck, and he would not honour them. i asked to speak to the manager, and he said he was the owner and he didn't know who else I could talk to. He was arrogant and rude. I said that i didn't think he had a very good customer service policy, and he said that was the way it was - no exceptions. The 4 of us will not ever visit there, and will make sure we tell everyone we know who visits wineries like this not to bother going there. Apparently he is too busy to add to his business.

From the beautifully appointed tasting room, the expansive patio that overlooks the beauty of natures vista, and the brick fire oven that produces sumptuous Italian pizza, Blackwood Lane Winery went beyond my expectations. I never imagined pizza would taste this sumptuously delicious! It indeed was at least as good, if not better than the pizza we tasted in Italy last summer when my wife and I travelled to Florence, Tuscany and Venice. However, this is just the tip of the ice-berg! Blackwood Lane Winery produces the most opulent wines from grapes grown in the Naramata Bench deep in the heart of the Okanagan. I promise you that Blackwood Lanes Winery will not disappoint, even to the most discerning of foodies or wine officienados. Do yourself a favour! Put it on your priority list the next time you want to have friendly service, great wine, extraordinary pizza and a little piece of paradise, as you experience the pleasures of life.

I don't know of another local winery whose product sells in stores for north of $100.00. Some of their bottles retail for up to $200.00. They do have more affordable wines, but their high-end wines are what make them unique.

Full tours are extremely pricey at $50.00 per person, minimum 6 per group. It seems like you get quite a bit for your money: cheese and chocolate with your tasting, barrel tastings, and a few other benefits. I didn't do the tour myself, I only visited the tasting room. The more affordable wines are good, but you can definitely taste the difference in the pricier wines. They charge for tasting, but it's worth it to sample something that's out of your price range for a full bottle. The staff are very friendly and professional, and highly knowledgeable about their products.

If you're touring the Langley wineries, it would be a mistake to miss this one.

The best wine I’ve had from BC, hands down. I was blown away by the quality and the knowledge of the woman helping with our tasting. A total hidden gem, it’s in a beautiful location and while the wine is more expensive than vineyards close by (as per other reviews) it’s absolutely worth the price.

On top of that, we got a flat from another vineyard and not only did the owner notify us of the flat, but jacked up the car himself to change it! They went completely above and beyond and we continue to be VERY grateful.

Thanks Blackwood Lane - the wine, the people, the place are second to none!
