We rented a boat to go for a trip on Osoyoos Lake. The price is high but not crazy so we took advantage of an hour on the lake. Nothing to say, it was nice, the service was okay. We are foreigners and perhaps we did not fully understand the conditions of the price (although my son is perfectly bilingual and I still manage correctly) in any case on return we apply the fuel surcharge and It's not the same madness anymore. The price becomes very expensive. So be careful and have things explained properly before renting.

The generally negative reviews are fair warning this is not the best choice for boat rental in Osoyoos. The boats are in poor shape. Our twin jet boat wouldn't get up on a plane and bilge pump ran almost all the time. Limited accessories - asked for a ski when reserving but they were out when we arrived. They charge more for less. Be warned!

I was just in Osoyoos for the weekend. Some friends and I decided to rent a boat and a tube for two hours ($100 per hour) from Starlite Marina. Five minutes into the trip we got our rope for the tube caught - obviously our fault. We had to call the marina to tow us back. They said the problem would be fixed easily and we could go back out. An hour later we get back in the boat. I quickly clarified we still had two hours. They informed us we had used up our hour fixing our mistake. Further they advised we owed $40 for the rope that had to be cut out, PLUS they charged us for the gas we used for our five minutes, and the gas their boat used to tow us back. For our five minutes, we were up to $160. We decided to pay up and leave at that point, figuring if we used our remaining hour we would have been up to over $300.
I asked nicely if we could be forgiven our mistake, pay for the rope and gas, and have our two hours at regular price, but no such luck, even though they had no reservations for our boat that evening. I felt like a vulnerable tourist being taken advantage of, instead of an appreciated customer.
Dont make our mistake and rent from Starlite Marina, or at least get a full explanation of up front costs.

Where to begin,
My fiancé and I decided to take out a seadoo; everything went fine, we went first thing in the morning and steven gave us a deal. After that it went downhill. The seadoo we took out looked like it survived a war, it really didn't pick up much speed then out of nowhere it started to beep at one point and we lost power. We were stranded for a good 20 minutes on the lake until I was able to flag down a family to help us go back into shore. The boys that were helping bring in the boats were beyond rude. When I told him it stopped he told me we must've sucked up seaweed (I own a seadoo, they don't stop like that and beep when you seaweed in the propellers). After that we found out that it in fact was not our fault but that the seadoo had no oil!!
I asked the boy about the time we lost and he threw up his arms and said you're not the only people that want to rent a seadoo.
I was shocked and he could tell. I forgot to mention that when we came in and I mentioned that we were stuck he said "what do you want me to do about that, we don't have people from the hotel out there watching you".
I talked to steven who was the manager about his attitude, and he dealt with it, however when it came time to pay the bill, we were shocked to notice only 10% given back to us, that was less then the 2 hours we lost out on being stuck. Overall just stay away from this place!!!

We had the opportunity to rent a few sea doo and boats here. We basically were blamed for the boat being damaged - that was checked out apparently before it was rented to us- the owner of the hotel basically came in and tried to override the manager of the shop and hold our $1000 deposit. Basically put us on the hook for damage that could not have been caused by us renting it..cracked block by inccorect winterizing..Apparently it's a common thing for them to rent out partially fixed boats and seadoos from an uncertified boat tech.putting unsuspecting renters at fault..oh and also we were confirmed to receive 50 percent off out entire rental but two days later we were told it was only 25 percent and we're asked for the rest of the money?? Who does that?
Great staff great explanations of the lake and what to do and not to do. But it's not worth the hassle in the end..This place needs a serious restructuring. And a certified boat mechanic wouldn't hurt..I would hate to tally up the money this place has taken from unsuspecting honest tourists who don't know any wiser..

We wanted to rent a boat for a few hours, we looked at the boats they had to offer and quickly decided that this place was a joke. I've rented many boats on different lake over the years and these guys should not be in business at all, they don't maintain there boats at all. By reading other reviews I really hope people read reviews before renting from these guys. STAY AWAY

Although we had a great afternoon on the lake, I felt compelled to share that the boat rental itself was more than disappointing. We were excited to enjoy time with a 320 HP jet boat only to find it dirty and lacking ANY working gauges. We had no functioning gas gauge, depth finder OR speedometer so were at the mercy of our instincts out on the lake. Thankfully half our "crew' knew the lake and had a lot of experience on a boat. We played it safe and came in to gas up half-way through our day. After mentioning to the staff we had no working gauges, we were told that they knew and just shrugged their shoulders.
We were very disappointed that the interior was filthy and had to ask the staff remove the garbage from the previous renters. We had booked a reservation for the rental and weren't just walking in hoping to grab a boat so I had expected them to leave time to go over the boat and prepare it for our afternoon. No such luck. The staff just seemed anxious to get it back on the lake.
I do not feel the $600 charge was justified in the least and would rent from somewhere else in the future although this was a very convenient location. The boats are not well looked after and for the rental charges I expected a pristine vessel with everything in working order.

Since the depth meter wasn't working on our boat we were stock in the middle of nowhere for a while. Originally we were supposed to pay 144 for an hour but they charged is 600 dollars for labor, change of parts and extra gas. The workers told us that they understand that the situation was not fair but the owner insisted to charge us. Awful awful awful customer service. We will never come back here. The boats are not fully working and whatever that happens they will charge you full price.

The service was great but the equipment kind of lacked and was outdated, the boat we had could barely pull a tube and the jetskis are governed too slow other than that nice little place with a nice and energetic staff, Espically the boys out on the dock

If there isn't room to store our golf clubs in our room (4 people sharing) will you store them elsewhere in the hotel for us?
