It is quite a small farm with tons of animals. The ducks, chickens and other fowl are roaming about which makes a great treat for little ones. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot of activity in the farm like petting areas, informative sessions and...More
A lovely day out visiting the fur peeps. Friendly quiet place and nice to walk around. U can bring veggies to feed the animals and buy bird seeds ( and souvenir items) for the birds. Easy to get to by public transit.Enjoyable
I have lived in Vancouver on an off for 40 years and I never heard of this place. Then I took a job in the parks department of North Vancouver and spent a lot of time in an around this attraction. What a gift for...More
The farm has a big array of the standard farm animals including horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, 100's of ducks , rabbits guinea pigs and even peacocks. Great place to let the 2 to 7 year olds get to touch and see the animals...More
After enjoying lunch with friends they insisted that we join their family to visit the Maplewood Farm. Maplewood is a proactive petting farm and only about a 1/2 hour's drive from Vancouver. It's amazing just how fascinated and intrigued youngsters become. A visit to Maplewood...More
The kids liked this cute small farm, we weren’t impressed. The farm had Goats, bunnies, cows, ducks, pigs and horses. It was very small. We were finished in less than an hour.
The taxi ride alone from Stanley park was $40 each way!!! It wasn’t...More
Had a nice visit to the farm as part of a school field trip. The kids particularly loved being able to pet and feed the rabbits, and spending time with the goats! It was a hot day when we were there and I was pleasantly...More

3 night in Vancouver - what area to stay with kids (5 Replies)
A friend and I are travelling from Alberta to Vancouver with our 2 toddlers in early June. We going to Van specifically for the aquarium on day 1 and Maplewood Farm on day 2. We are trying to decide on which are to stay at in order to be central to those 2 locations. We're trying to avoid downtown driving but if that's the most convinient place to stay then we will. I'm leaning towards the Holiday Inn on North Van since it's very close to Maplewoods Farm and close to the direct highway route...More

We will be driving our own car, yes. We're from a small town so downtown driving just makes me a bit nervous and I guess that's why I was leaning towards avoiding that area even though it's the closest to Stanley Park. I'm glad you mentioned the walk, were wondering if there was a plce close to that hotel that we could take the kids out for a run and play. Unfortunately we are only here for 3 nights as we only have 1 week to make the round trip from Alberta. Thanks for your response!
Abbotsford for 2 weeks....is it worth a trip to kamloops? (14 Replies)
Hello all We are visiting (sick) family for two weeks (we leave Saturday!). We have a 4.5 year old with us. Because the sick relative will want time alone/be not up to travelling. We want to plan some trips local to mission/abbotsfford and some which require exploring a bit further. A bit of a menu depending in the weather and time we have not doing family stuff. I have browsed tripadvisor and come up with these activities/trips: 1 Vancouver Island :Granville Island, cathedral grove 2...More

Hiya ~ Abbie is about 1 hour's drive from Vancouver. 1. Granville Island is an attraction in Vancouver. Cathedral Grove is 4.5 hours away from Vancouver, 5.5 from Abbie, including a ferry ride and the wait for the ferry. Best with an overnight. 2. Stanley Park, Aquarium, Granville Island. 5. Britannia Mining Museum is about 2 hours drive from Abbie. You could make a day of it with some or all of Shannon Falls, Sea to Sky gondola, Alice Lake, Westcoast Railway Museum. 6. MF is a...More
