- TravelinSuzChandler, Arizona947 contributionsHike with a viewWe came in May about the last gondola up the mountain it stayed light past 10pm. It had snowed a few weeks prior and either side of the main road had snow banks 8 ft or so high. Nice views and great place to hike.Thank you so much for taking the time to review! We're so glad you enjoyed your time at the mountain.Written October 16, 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2019Written April 25, 2020
- Alice CVancouver, Canada115 contributionsNice review from top of mountainYou can climb up to Grouse Mountain and then take down by skyride. Summer time, many people (young and old) climb up (fun). On the mountain, winter skiing/summer hiking, there are many trails which can reach to Lynn Canyon park or Mount Seymour. There are many different activities every day. Skyride costs over sixty dollars for an adult. If you want to skiing, cost more. Thanks Alice for taking the time to share your review. - MrsWYN-RNorth Yorkshire, United Kingdom2,983 contributionsWorth the wait in a queueVery popular and the cars get very busy so time your visit well. The queues are quite long and waiting time can be an inconvenience if you are trying to catch a coach waiting at the bottom. The trip in the gondola up to the top does not take very long it is the queues that delay everything. Great views from the gondola and there are some intersting things to see at the top so worth the wait time. Enjoyed the lumberjack show and loved seeing the bears. Managed to get some great photos through the car window.Visited September 2022Written October 21, 2022
- Kyrie F11 contributionsA very disappointing experienceA really disappointing trip, wouldn't recommend travel up in the winter unless you are skiing. We were highly recommended this as a must do trip when visiting Vancouver and we were really disappointed. The ride in the gondola was really packed as people were crammed in with skies and equipment. Sadly not a relaxing ride. At the top most things were closed because it was winter. Even the observation deck was closed. We visited the cinema to learn more about the mountain and the film being shown was about Iceland!! As the space wasn't manned by staff, kids were using it as a space to sit and chat away from watching adults. So we couldn't even watch the film being shown. For the money, there was so little to do up there accept ski. The animal area was closed until June. Sadly, an experience I wouldn't do again and couldn't recommend. When I look at what else we afforded on our trip, for the same price or less, it completely wasn't worth the money. Ultimately a lot of money for an 8 minute overcrowded gondola ride.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 14, 2023
- GRAHAM CDunton Green, United Kingdom853 contributionsThe highlight of the week. When in Vancouver you will be amazed at the view from Canada Place across the Bay towards Stanley Park and The Lion's Gate Bridge. BUT in the far distance is Grouse Mountain, the city's ski area. Take the courtesy coach from Canada Place to Grouse Mountain via Stanley Park, The Lion's Gate Bridge and Capilano ( this is worth 30 minutes of anyone's time alone ) - a great free tour. The Skyride cablecar is not expensive, takes minutes to the summit where you will fine cafes, restaurants, shops, viewing platforms, AND MUCH MORE. How about, chairlifts, zip wires ( instruction school as well ) outdoor play areas, bear enclosure ( we saw 2 sleeping ), birds of prey demo and lumberjack show. All for the price of the Skyride ticket. Highly recommend . Enjoy.Visited June 2022Written July 22, 2022

- lomimuNorth Vancouver, Canada2,874 contributionsSlow journey with viewsThe Skyride is how you get to the top of Grouse for activities and restaurants - less than 10 minutes by cable car. It's a pretty big car, and the views of Vancouver and the surrounding area can be stellar. However, you have to jostle for a downslope position at the window and the glass isn't exactly pristine, so it's more of an enjoy-the-view than a photo situation. Set your expectations accordingly.Hi lomimu, thank you for your review! - MenderBNew London, New Hampshire66 contributionsSunset ride was boring; dirty windows, crowded tram, sad bearsI was so excited about doing this, having taken a tram up to a rotating restaurant in Albuquerque, NM years ago and remembering that wonderful experience. This didn't compare. The tram was crowded, the windows were dirty so pictures weren't great. The restaurant wasn't doing outdoor service + it was wicked hot inside. The views were great and the bears seemed so depressed - overweight and lumbering in a rather small habitat. The bugs were awful and there wasn't much to see. Perhaps the day rides lead to a better experience.Visited July 2022Written July 14, 2022

Although we arrived at the cable car when it started raining and the clouds made the views disappear. We waited for ten minutes when we got out on top of the mountain and the sun came out. Worth the effort.

It is a 8 minute ride to the top of the mountain and the gondolas are small and seats 4 people. They pull in every few seconds, so we did not experience a long wait. On a clear day the view from top is spectacular indeed. There are wooden trails which makes for a pleasant walk. There is a restaurant in case temperatures soar. Easy to spend an hour or two depending on one's activity level.

Simple open window gondola up the mountain. No seats for the 10 minute ride up. Get your tickets online as the office is kinda small.
Going up, Stand on the right side for city views, left for canyon views. On the mountain side, the waiting area is exposed so it gets cold on windy days.

Can you ride the skytram only or must you buy a ticket that includes the other attractions? Thank you.

There are two ways up .The gondola is one way and I understand it is about $40.00 Cdn right now.The other way is if you are a hiker, there is the "Grouse Grind" its a challenging trail and stairs up to the top.Either way you have to take the gondola down.Dont do the Grind unless you are in fairly good hiking shape and have good shoes on,(no flip flops) .There isnt a lot up top except hike around the paths, but you do get an amazing view of the city. The skiing is ok but its the view, night time with all the lights on is amazing, just make sure you have a nice clear day/night when you go.

Yes, they sell tickets by the sky lift or you can get them where the bus leaves from downtown.

I only have 1 day in vancouver. Should I do grouse mountain or capilano? Is there public transport or a shuttle between them as they only appear to be about 5 miles apart?

Do both, we did.... Capilano is really great if you have kids, loads for them to do.

Businesses don't advertise military pricing in Canada like you see in the states, but if you ask they may have a concession rate.
