- Phil NCootamundra, Australia306 contributionsA great days activity when on a summer vacation in Vancouver.Having visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, out guided tour then took us up to the Grove Mountain Ski Area. We rode the Mountain Skyride for access to the top and found it all a great experience. At the top, we were able to purchase lunch (even if the prices seemed over the top) but wandered around to enjoy the views overlooking Vancouver as well as visit the 2 grizzly bears kept up there and went to the free lumber jack show which was entertaining with a real comedy theme running through it. Added to the morning trip to Capilano Park it made for a very good outing.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 12, 2023
- Carol58aBlacktown, Australia700 contributionsA visit to Grouse Mountain is a mustWe had the most amazing time on Grouse Mountain. The gondola is an experience, you have to be prepared to be crammed in. We went to the first Birds of Prey show for the season, so the birds weren't allowed to fly, but they are quite majestic anyway. Seeing the young Grizzly Bears there was incredible. You can get reasonably close, if and when they come out. It was really cold up there, so you must be rugged up.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 9, 2024
- OssieKilkeel, United Kingdom354 contributionsA sight not to be missed!I was a little apprehensive about getting onto the sky ride but knew if I didn’t, that it was a two hour strenuous walk up to the top!. It was exceptionally smooth and lots of photo opportunities. It does be fairly busy and you can also get your tickets online, remember to state if you a pensioner and if you are from Vancouver it will be cheaper still!.Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 30, 2024
- billandbens22 contributionsGood day outGood day out with spectacular views of Vancouver. Took the Skyride to the top and the skilift to the very summit for the most amazing views of the city and the surrounding area. Watched the Lumberjack show which was a good show. The only thing I didn't like was the grizzly bear area, I don't really like to see animals in cages but that's a personal thing.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2024

A really disappointing trip, wouldn't recommend travel up in the winter unless you are skiing.
We were highly recommended this as a must do trip when visiting Vancouver and we were really disappointed.
The ride in the gondola was really packed as people were crammed in with skies and equipment. Sadly not a relaxing ride.
At the top most things were closed because it was winter. Even the observation deck was closed. We visited the cinema to learn more about the mountain and the film being shown was about Iceland!! As the space wasn't manned by staff, kids were using it as a space to sit and chat away from watching adults. So we couldn't even watch the film being shown.
For the money, there was so little to do up there accept ski. The animal area was closed until June.
Sadly, an experience I wouldn't do again and couldn't recommend. When I look at what else we afforded on our trip, for the same price or less, it completely wasn't worth the money.
Ultimately a lot of money for an 8 minute overcrowded gondola ride.

There are different price categories - the best for day tourists would be:
80 CAD for adults (ascent and descent)
205 CAD Family Ticket (2 adults, 2 children ascent and descent)
-> here also includes the ascent to the actual summit, which is located at 1,231 m altitude (because the "skyride" takes you to the first plateau, where you can find the THE OBSERVATORY - Restaurant or the Grouse Grind Coffee Bar or from where you can start other Things to do).
25 CAD for adults (Sunset Special from 7pm/7pm)
In addition, for only CAD 20 for adults, there is a ticket for those who have hiked up on foot and therefore only need the descent.

When in Vancouver you will be amazed at the view from Canada Place across the Bay towards Stanley Park and The Lion's Gate Bridge. BUT in the far distance is Grouse Mountain, the city's ski area. Take the courtesy coach from Canada Place to Grouse Mountain via Stanley Park, The Lion's Gate Bridge and Capilano ( this is worth 30 minutes of anyone's time alone ) - a great free tour. The Skyride cablecar is not expensive, takes minutes to the summit where you will fine cafes, restaurants, shops, viewing platforms, AND MUCH MORE. How about, chairlifts, zip wires ( instruction school as well ) outdoor play areas, bear enclosure ( we saw 2 sleeping ), birds of prey demo and lumberjack show. All for the price of the Skyride ticket. Highly recommend . Enjoy.

even though it was cloudy we enjoyed the day. the ride up was peaceful the ride down was not. School kids. It is ok it is a kids activity. The lumberjack show was entertaining and had partial views from the top but we were just too early. Would repeat as there is enough to do in a afternoon

In relation to the time spent, this was the most expensive thing we have done in several years! Whilst the gondola ride is a great experience and the view at the top is amazing (especially if you take the chair lift up for the final bit) it's debatable if its value for money. You can see the bird show, lumberjacks and two rescued grizzlies without extra cost and the number 236 bus took us to and from the suspension bridge for free.
It is indeed a once in a lifetime experience for me to pay so much for so little - second perhaps only to the Livraria Lello book shop in Porto!

$150 plus taxes for a 6 minute return trip on a gondola is absolutely ridiculous. Once at the top there’s not much to do anyway plus you’ll be paying more for mediocre overpriced food if you fancy something to eat. What a rip off.

Fun afternoon riding the Skyride gondola to the top of the mountain - wonderful views of the city below. Lumberjack show was fun. Got up close to two grizzly bears - man, they are huge! Had lunch in nice BBQ restaurant while birds of prey show was going on. Highly recommend for all ages, including kids.

Hi there,
Are the Grizzlies, Birds of Prey Show and Lumberjack Show all in the one vicinity or is there a great walk between them all and how long does the Lumberjack Show go for and do they have varied starting times for each?
Are you guaranteed to see the Grizzlies (late July)
Thanks in advance

Can you ride the skytram only or must you buy a ticket that includes the other attractions? Thank you.
Written August 27, 2019
There are two ways up .The gondola is one way and I understand it is about $40.00 Cdn right now.The other way is if you are a hiker, there is the "Grouse Grind" its a challenging trail and stairs up to the top.Either way you have to take the gondola down.Dont do the Grind unless you are in fairly good hiking shape and have good shoes on,(no flip flops) .There isnt a lot up top except hike around the paths, but you do get an amazing view of the city. The skiing is ok but its the view, night time with all the lights on is amazing, just make sure you have a nice clear day/night when you go.

Yes, they sell tickets by the sky lift or you can get them where the bus leaves from downtown.
Written March 3, 2018
I see that you can buy the experience tickets online but is it possible to buy at a physical shop downtown or Canada place on the day itself?
Written August 14, 2017
We bought ours at Grouse Mountain itself.

I only have 1 day in vancouver. Should I do grouse mountain or capilano? Is there public transport or a shuttle between them as they only appear to be about 5 miles apart?
Written June 7, 2017
Do both, we did.... Capilano is really great if you have kids, loads for them to do.
Written June 28, 2017
Businesses don't advertise military pricing in Canada like you see in the states, but if you ask they may have a concession rate.
Written May 18, 2017
Hi, I do not know as went in an organised group and the leader paid. They must have a website where you could perhaps see the price or just telephone them. Best of uck.
