    Gorgeous Cherry Blossoms
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom signifies the beginning of the Spring season. We can expect sunny days in the coming weeks. This is one of the perks of driving around during the Spring season. These gorgeous flowers delight people all over Richmond City mostly on the roads and residential gardens. This year the Cherry Blossom Festival was held last April 2 at Gary Point Park. It is a waterfront park, a quiet place with amazing views near Steveston Village. It’s great to have wonderful activities whether a stroll in the park to relax, have fun playing games, or family picnic bonding. It’s also ideal to enjoy the charming Sakura Cherry trees by taking photos and admiring their beauty. This week, most of the Cherry Blossom trees are in full bloom so it'll be wonderful to drop by before they're gone in the next two weeks.

OK to visit if you are in Richmond
This is supposedly one of the best places in Vancouver to see the Cherry Blossom trees but we went in the summer time. It is a waterfront park, located within walking distance of the Steveston Village. It can be very windy here and we saw quite a few people trying to fly kites. You get very pretty views of the Fraser river and the ocean. It is a very relaxing place to go for a jog or a stroll or just laze around. There are a few walking trails nearby. Overall not a great place to go out of the way but can be a pleasant evening if you are already in Richmond

    Great place
Richmond, BC is a great alternative to staying in Vancouver. Airport is actually here and easy to get to. Steveston is a quaint fishing town with many eating establishments. The park has trails and great views as well as connecting to West Dyke Trail for awesome biking and walking. Homes are beautiful and very peaceful. Stay is highly recommended

One of my favourite places - I would be here more often but for the long drive.
Usually here in the summer, but wanted to meet some old friends, and the Covid situation pretty much dictated an outside venue. While cold and windy (it's winter!), the views made up for it. To the southwest, a barrier of black clouds over the Crofton area - we can expect rain tomorrow. But, the highlight was the to the north - looking over Vancouver's Point Grey/UBC area and the snow covered mountains to the north.
The views from here are quite different than those of downtown Vancouver, and I believe tourists should seriously consider a half day trip to this attractive spot.

The Garry Point Park used to be called Scotch Pond/Beach....

We were Children (some of us were Japanese Canadians whose Parents returned to their Fishing Village of Steveston after being Interned by the Canadian Government
during 1945-1952)

As Children we would walk from No. 1 Road to 7th Avenue to where today
Garry Point is.

This was our playground to play out with the Sand dunes that filled the area.
We had all the sticks that drifted ashore to imagine we were swashbucklers
and mould out furniture using the sand. We would wade in the shallow ponds
collecting tadpoles and stay for hours unsupervised.
It was safe and we were all one happy group....My Friends were all Five -Seven Years
of age.
Today that would be unthinkable.
So, to me Garry Point (Scotch Pond/Beach) is always a fond place of many wonderful memories.

Our first visit here was in the spring. The cherry blossoms were amazing! The park is great, with terrific views. We returned a few days later to watch the sunset. Walking along the dike we saw many different bird species. It is a long drive for us, but worth it.

Garry Point is very close to the village of Steveston and definitely worth a visit! I love going year round, but summertime is a fun time, especially if you have little ones.

There are some small sandy beaches perfect for digging in the sand and watching lots of fishing vessels, tugs, and freighters on the river. It's also the perfect place to fly a kite...kite enthusiasts flock here to fly their kites, and some of them are pretty amazing to watch. There is a gravel path that takes about 25 minutes to complete which circles Garry Point...there is also a small Japanese garden and the cherry blossoms in springtime are beautiful! Some people choose to bike it as it also connects to the Richmond dyke on the west side. The concession stand is open seasonally, with Pajo's fish n' chips and Timothy's frozen yogurt-both very good. While there is a new dock, Garry Point is not a 'sculpted park' it is kind of sparse and retains a wildness that urban parks don't usually have. It was also the sight of the Tall Ship festival this year in Steveston. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you enjoy walking, you can easily walk here from Steveston village. Just note that beaches are deemed unsafe to swim in.

Awesome park along the Fraser River's South Arm, with views of water and mountains! Recommend to go on weekdays, when it is not so crowded, and have parking spaces. This is the place to fly your kite!

Day, afternoon or evening this is a wonderful park to visit. We drove into the park with guests from Ontario and were delighted to see the cleaned up and attractively planted parkland at the mouth of The Fraser. Next day we returned to soak up the sun and watch the sunset too. The numer of people and families visiting the park was astounding and a source of pleasure for both me and my husband. The Commemorative Japanese Garden and Fisherman's Memorial were both poignant reminders of past deeds and events that should not be forgotten.

It's a great place for a short walk and a sit by the ocean. You can get Pajo's Fish and chips, and there's also a frozen yogurt/ice cream place. It's usually not too crowded. The only downside is when there are several groups doing picnics and blaring music.
