Entry fee would be 75 uah for locals and outsiders and for students it is 35 uah . Fort is located on the river bank so it's cold here. You can enjoy the history of the fort and stuff used are displayed inside the museum .

Our group of 20 stopped here while on a tour of Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. After seeing so many fortresses, we were all getting a bit bleary-eyed. This one, however, was much more interesting than the others due to its massive size, and the fact that it offered many more buildings than just an empty yard. It definitely impresses one with its power and impregnability.
This fortress is one of Ukraine's more famous. Located on the right bank of the Dneister River on a rocky cape, it was built to protect the ancient settlement of Khotyn and the river crossing. Its massive walls (131 feet high and 20 feet wide), offer visitors the opportunity to climb to the highest towers and walk about to enjoy the view of the river and the Podillyan Plain. Because of its ideal location, it has been used by many filmmakers for historic adventure movies, including "Taras Bulba" in 2009.
It is quite a long walk to the fortress from the car/bus park, so do wear sturdy shoes.

Went there today on an excursion from Kamyanets Podilskyi. Took a local marshrutka bus from K-P bus station, bus stand no.3. Price was 10 UAH, travel time about 30 mins; buses are rather frequent, continuing to Chernivtsi. The road from K-P is rather uninteresting. After Zhvanets village by the Dnestr river, the road goes uphill; there you will get a quick glimse of the fortress by the river and shortly afterwards a large official sign, also in English, mentioning the byway to "Khotyn Fortress 1km". Get off the buss there, it will save you some wlaking or a taxi from Khotyn town. It´s a nice little walk past some rather idyllic and mostly well-off houses. Then a sign on the left says "Fortetsya" and you will be there.
Outiside the castle, next to the ticket office (admission 12 UAH) are some souvenir stands and some modest cafés; English guidebooks are available. inside the castle area, there´s a somewhat better cafe with some cooked meals. Poor toilets
The Castle is nicely situated in a great landscape. One is quite free to walk in the area, including the paths and stairs down to the riverside.
When going back from the entrance, it is possibleto walk to Khotyn, but the town is not very interesting. The bus stop there a bit northwards from the main supermarket/shopping mall building, in the direction of K-P.
I have no doubt that the various castles and natural sights along the Dnestr Valley will gradually become a tourist destination. Buses to almost all villages goes from K-P, and if you have the time, it is a nice valley area to check out. A detailed local map is quintessential. There is a bit of info in the "Kamyanets-Podilskyi - Khotyn - Castles of teh Zbruch Valley - Podilskyi Tovtry" small green, found in many places (ttaras Palkov, 2010; as far as I remember 25 UAH). I hope to go to the Bakota Monastery, the Kytaihorod and Vrublivitsi viewpoints also, to mention some of the places.

This castle inspires with its magnificent shapes and breathtaking views. The atmosphere here makes you wonder about fallen heroes that protected it’s walls.

We have been visiting Khotyn in August 2016. It is really worth to go and see it. The Khotyn Fortress in Ukrainian: Хотинська фортеця, is a historical complex located on the right bank of the Dniester River in Khotyn, Chernivtsi Oblast of western Ukraine. The Construction of Khotyn fortress started in 1325, and it was pretty lasting process over years of 1380s and in the 1460s.
Just for your info lots of historical adventure movies were filmed in the Khotyn fortress: Zakhar Berkut , The Arrows of Robin Hood, Old Fortress , d'Artagnan and Three Musketeers , The Black Arrow , Taras Bulba etc.
The fortress looks really majestic. There is a fee for car parking and fee to enter the fortress.
Being honest – the best view of the fortress is view from outside as inside they started renovation process in modern style and all features of ancient time have been lost. The landscape is very beautiful. You also have an opportunity to buy a unique Khotyn gifts at the Khotyn souvenir market which is situated right at the parking lot.
Definitely recommend this place to visit!

Not too far from Kamyanets-Podilsky this fortress is a must see. There is surprisingly a lot in English at this fortress. You can catch a local bus that you can catch from Kanyanets Podilksy then just use google maps to walk to the fortress.

Khotyn Fortress – a magnificient example of medieval defensive architecture in Ukraine, is located in 400 km fom Kiev, 70 km from Chernovtsy and 20 km from Kamenets-Podolsky.
You can get there, for example, by train from Kiev to Kamenets-Podolsky, and then by local bus to Khotyn. Or you can get there by car.
The fortress is very harmoniously blended into landscape and makes a strong impression! From three main position - top of the hills, lower shore of Dniester river and from inside – you’ll get a lot of really breathtaking views!
The walls of the Fortress keep a long history and legends, that can excite your imagination, plunging into the events of the Middle Ages. Inside the fortess there is a lot of interesting things – a torture chamber, an ancient well, the tower of death.
The Khotyn fortress often became a place for historical and folk festivals, knightly tournaments, for example world championship “Battle of the Nations”, that always are impressive and colorful spectacles.
It's a little hard to get there without a car (you should walk distanse from the bus stop to fortress about 2 km through the village). Better to come in the morning to have some hours, because the gate will be closed at 18.00.

I've seen a few castles and forts in my time, but the vista that opens up when you enter through the gate in the remains of the curtain wall and see the well-preserved citadel in the distance in the crook of the river - magnificent. A turbulent history but in excellent condition and cheap to visit (not like Dover Castle). Overall site is massive but the walled 'keep' at the heart of the fortress is the hub of the experience.

Fortress on the Dnister River, Khotyn played decisive role in the history of the whole Europe - and only very little know it!
In fact, Khotyn with Cossacks and Polish army withstand the invasion of the Turkish forces.
As for now, Khotyn fortress is considered to be one of the most top tourist attractions in Ukraine. It is in the list of the best preserved castles of the region and the medieval festivals take place here each year.
Definitely recommend to visit
P.S. there are tours around castles of Ukraine that include also visit to Khotyn stronghold – better to take such!
