- GraceySt Clair, Australia28 contributionsLove it or cringeThis place is great, getting there by walking is ideal for a good long walk with great views and scenery. The area has been revamp and cleaned up. The food was great but I gave it 4 star because the prices are ridiculously so high and very expensive did not justify the cost! The servings are quite small so you'll have to get something else to fill you up which I thinks their tactics to buy more at a high cost, cringe! Food on the picture cost total $45 fyi.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten February 2, 2020
- Rhonda WAuckland Central, New Zealand259 contributionsLovely casual atmosphereThe Auckland Fish Market is well placed in the Viaduct area which provides ample strolling opportunities with amazing harbour views. This area is teaming with a wide range of eateries and bars with 'The Wreck' being positioned withing the Auckland Fish Market complex. The outdoor eating area attracted a constant flow of people so be prepared to wait for available seating and a queue for ordering food at your chosen food stall. Our order of fish and chips, and salt n pepper squid was ok but the casual atmosphere enabled us to relax and enjoy the moment over drinks. A good range of drinks available including the most delicious Frose... a mango, passionfruit, and white rum slushy!!! Absolutely yum on a hot day! A great place to chill with friends when not in a hurry or have high gourmet expectations. Paid parking is available nearby but be prepared to walk a fair way when busy. There is a bit of work going on around the Viaduct and tank farm in preparation for the upcoming Americas Cup racing but this does not impact negatively.. probably adds interest to your visit actually. It will be a truely stunning area once this is complete! We will return.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 7, 2020
- MinSingapore, Singapore22 contributionsBilly Pot Oysters and musselsThe coconut curry mussels were very nice. The curry were the slightly drier kind, like rendang. It is not at all spicy, yet very flavorful. The white wine mussels flavor were only so so. My hubby said the oysters were nice and juicy. Good price. For the oysters, 4nzd per pc but 40nzd per dozen. The mussels were ard 10nzd per serving, comes with a bread roll.Visited February 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten February 13, 2020

Went for a meal on a very quiet Tuesday evening ( we were the only people there) and ended up leaving without eating. My wife and I ordered a fish meal each and after 30 minutes we had not received our meals. I went and asked what was happening , I was advised it would be ready in another 5 minutes. 10 minutes later still nothing. I went back to query the delay the lady said it was coming and apologised they were busy. I challenged this and requested our money back. She did resist this request and when I pointed out they were not busy she then told us the grill was causing problems. At that point I noticed the chef stabbing the salmon with his bare fingers to see if it was cooked. Clearly it wasn't and I again asked for our money back which was reluctantly given back.Should have let us know there was a a problem we would have ordered something else

I’ve have some disappointments when travelling, mainly expected, but this place takes first prize. I’m thinking that the fishmarket in Auckland would be up there with the one in Sydney. After all, New Zealand is surrounded by pristine water full of seafood. The choice of takeaway outlets were very limited and to my amazement a lot of the seafood was imported....and expensive.....prawns from Thailand at $74 a kilo !!
We had the hotpot greenlipped mussels which were covered in garlic ($15)and 150gms of grilled flounder fillets, still with the skin on also covered in garlic sauce, and chips ($19).....a little bit of garlic is fine and tasty but garlic overkill kept me up all night.
You could choose some fresh fish and then have it cooked for an extra $7 per 300gms
Sorry, I’ve had better at the average fish and chip takeaway in a small country town.

Love popping down here for a tasty lunch in their courtyard. Love the fresh mussels and all the options available to dine on. Also, the retail seafood is very well priced (cheaper than some supermarkets) and so much fresher. Highly recommended place for dining when exploring Silo Park and the Wynyard Quarter.

We ordered a sea food heven platter, the platter is not decent for the money we paid. It was filled with potato chips, not sea food.. see the photo, you can see sea food on the top but just on the top of the cone, the rest is potato chips.. I felt i was mislead as the person who served me said the platter is enough for two people , but its not enough even for one person unless you eat potato chips.

The fresh fillet of fish was presented with shoestring chips that were greasy and poorly presented in cardboard. The glass of wine was a small amount and expensive. The food hall was not impressive and overall disappointing experience and overrated. Not worth a visit.

We've visited a lot of seafood or fish markets in the world, this is the smallest one with the least selection. There are only two stalls selling fresh seafood - mainly pacific osyters and salmon sashimi - that you could consume on the spot, others are all restaurants. There are some steamed lobsters as well, but the price is outrageous. Fri Billy Pot is offering cooked mussels and prawns, taste so so. Car park across the road offering free one hour parking, and you wouldn't need more than that.

We stopped here for dinner last Friday evening. It is a nice space, with plenty of eating options. You can eat inside or out - but if you go outside, beware of the very cheeky sparrows who will try and snatch your dinner!
We had fish burger and chips from Billypot. It was very good and we enjoyed it. Well worth $15 for this meal.
We will return to the Fish Market for a meal when we next return to Auckland.

We were staying not far from The Auckland Seafood Market and called in on our last day in Auckland for some lunch.
Size wise it was quite disappointing as only one store sold fresh seafood and several sold cooked seafood and there was a bar there as well.
Seating was hard to find so that needs to be improved.
When you compare it to the fantastic Sydney Seafood Market where thjere are so many fresh seafood stalls in pales in significance.
From the limited options available we had a nice seafood lunch.

We went here for lunch on our first day in Auckland and it proved to be a great place to relax after two long flights. The fish stalls were interesting, but it was great to sit in the sun in the central courtyard and chose a selection of seafood (and wine) from the several food and drink stalls in the market. We had salt and pepper squid, and garlic prawns from the ‘Billy Pot’ which were good, and fish and chips from the ‘Lobster and Tap’ which was excellent and highly recommended. We bought wine from ‘The Wreck’ from a very helpful barman who gave us samples of different types of Chardonnay they sell without even being asked.

Had the Seafood Heaven today. Looked great.Meant for 2 people to share. 3 prawns, 2 Fish pieces, 3 calamari in cones, ordered 2 beers. Get to eat it & find out it’s all lots of greasy chips under the minute amount of seafood. Disgusting value, when I mentioned it server he asked if I wanted more chips. Has turned us off eating out on our holiday.

The City link bus starts at the stop outside Auckland Fish Market through Wynyard Quarter, along Queen St, up to K-Rd and then back down Queen Street. All the CityLink buses are bright red and are easy to spot. The fare is $1, or free if you are transferring to another bus with your ATHop card.
