We climbed Mt Victoria which turned out to be a good exercise following a hearty lunch. The roads are shared each way by vehicles and pedestrians so be careful in either walking or driving. I preferred walking as there are so many beautiful views to take photos, minus the hassle of finding a place to park. Views include Auckland CBD... More

Hop over the harbour to visit Mount Victoria and you'll be greeted with fantastic 360 degree views of the Auckland region. Don't forget to bring your camera as this is one of Auckland's best locations for cityscape and panoramic photography.

Great panoramic views across to downtown Auckland and across the Hauraki Gulf. Brass reliefs describe all the sights to see. Explore the fort while there too. The mushrooms? vents on the water tanks underneath the summit painted to look like those spotted mushrooms from the Tintin books (Tintin and the Shooting Star)

After a short ferry ride from Auckland city, and a leisurely stroll past the Devonport shops and cafes, it's a comfortable 10-20 minute walk up to the top of Mount Victoria. There are also different paths to explore around the side of the mountain, and we managed to see some beautiful Tuis in the trees. You can also drive to... More

Wonderful view of Auckland and the Marina and miles around. The walk up the hill is not steady, but not strenous. We were planning to stay for the sunset, but the clouds moved in.

Worth an early alarm clock to catch sunrise from this site. 360 degree view of the city and harbour made it a great start to the day.

Great spot for views for all over Auckland and write out to sea. Would recommend both day and night. Night especially when there is a fireworks show in Auckland as this provides the perfect viewing spot. Also, a good place to grab some fish and chips and enjoy an outdoor dinner while looking over the harbour. Would recommend for Summer... More

Catch the Devonport ferry from Auckland city. It's a short 10 minute ride and then a 10 minute walk through the village shops (if you can stop yourself from browsing along the way) and up the hill. I wouldn't recommend taking the usual route which leads up a steep road shared by vehicles, but continue walking up Victoria Rd and... More

The Mount Victoria Reserve view is well worth a little bit if sweat equity to walk up it. It is only about 10 minutes from the ferry landing.
