I had been to gada bhawan during jan 31 - feb 2, 2024. Romm charge rs 3000 per day which is way too high compared to what they provide. With this charge compared to hotel, they should provide breakfast. People, so called monks and other very very rude and unfriendly. I was soo shocked to see money buisness in name of Lord Krsna. After 1991, this was my second journey and was very very disappointed. At govindas restaurant, a simple toast costs rs 60 which is ridiculus.

Serene environment is ruptured by the cacophony of announcements, mis managed rush.
Puja is done very perfunctorily, perhaps Pujari is tired or ritualistic monotony overpowered him!
Majestic buildings, lovely Idols, grandeur make up for most of the issues that are being outlined here for better improvement.
Management must ensure:
Distinct, large, clear signage’s are available in the vast premises with approximate distances in km for walkers
All rules, norms, regulations to be outlined for public v clearly on large printed outposts
Battery operated carts or EV must be made available for free rides within the campus for every one
More toilet facilities that well maintained to be provided in various main spots
Don’t charge for keeping up of bags, luggage, mobiles etc
Develop lush greenery within the campus
Undertake repairs, renewal of all public services such as toilets, common bathrooms etc which are in dilapidated state
Accept UPI payments for tickets, pujas etc
Provide dining facilities with tables, chairs, steel glasses. Eliminate plastic bottled water, cups, glasses etc
Offer second serving of Dal or Curry to avoid wastage of rice
Staff at counters should be able to speak in Hindi at least if not in English as well
Provide itinerary of places, distances, circuit of v important near by Vaishnavaite places with possible Toto prices for pilgrims or offer conducted tours to Nabadwip & Krishnanagar by ISKCON
Emulate TTD experience in managing the crowd or rush

I wanted to actually review Gada Bhavan, one of the guest houses of the ISKCON Temple, situated within the campus. we got four-bedded room, fairly clean, bathroom also clean. Np geyser, hot water available from tap which we had to fetch.

The guest house is ten minutes walk from the temple, clean and beautiful. Lovely gardens with prettiest of flowers around. For meals, you can get coupons, simple food served while you have to sit on the ground. Many shops around the guest house, selling prasad to bag to skirts to agarbattis make the place all the more interesting. Location wise, I think this guest house is best.

The temple itself is awesome. Attending the Arati is a mesmerising experience.

Last month in the mid of February, I along with my family went to Mayapur from MyHome town Asansol, West Bengal. I will break the Mayapur trip in part.
. Travel: We went to Burdwan by train and then hired a TOTO that reached us to the burdwan Bus stand. We caught the bus for Nawadweep from here(fare: 45/-). It was 2-2.5 hour journey in bus. Yet, You can catch the bus near Burdwan railway station itself but it will overcrowded by that time it reaches there and you will not find seat for your long journey. You can go to Nawadweep via train also. You can catch nawadweep train from Bandel Jn. It is available in every half an hour. I will suggest to go by train as the Roads are not good for Bus journey. After reaching Nawadweep, You have to reach the ghat by TOTO(charge 15/- per person) from where you will board boat(fare mere 3/-) that will drop you to the other side of Jalangi nadi i.e. Mayapur. After Getting down from boat, The Temple is nearly 15 min walk. It is recommended to hire TOTO if are travelling with elders.

Stay: Once You erach temple, You have to look for the rooms. GADA bhawan is the center place where you will get to know the available room in the campus. We got room in Vamshi Bhawan charging 950/- per day for four people. It was descent small room with attached washroom.

Food: You will free breakfast coupon in the early morning(after morning aarti) and Lunch coupon(30/- & 80/- depending upon the menu) in the noon time. There is a restaurant inside near to the temple which offer a good quality food at affordable proce. We had Masala Dhosa there in dinner. Nawadweep is famous for its Curd. You can get taste of it. Inside Temple cafetaria, I enjoyed the breakfast consisting of all north indian dishes at affordable price and great and taste.

Temple and Aarti: There is a large Bhawan there where at one place Lord Krishna Idon is there while at other place Loard Chaitanya idol is placed. We enjoyed the aarti in both Morning and Evening time. In the Temple time, You will dwelve into
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna..Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama..Rama Rama Hare Hare.
As a prasad, You can carry Laddu and Khaja we carried.

Ambience and Environment: The best part I enjoyed there was the calmness and purity in the environment where you disconnect yourself from the running world and think about yourself and hear your inner voice. You can visit the GOSHALA in the near by.

It was a great time with family where we spend 2 days and 1 night and it costed us less than 3500/- for 4 people including all the expenses(travel too). Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.

Hare Krishna!

To reach ISKCON in Mayapur - you have to take a train from Howrah for Nabadwip.

From Nabadwip Dham - Take a rickshaw and go to the ferri service which charges 5/- to cross the ghat.

It is an absolute serene atmosphere you can witness from the launcher. It takes around 20 minutes to reach the other side from where Mayapur Nagri starts.

You will see Chaintanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Krishna Temples in and around Mayapur ISKCON.

With family it will take easily a complete day to venture Mayapur. Before moving to Mayapur, one should go to PoraMaa Tola for divine blessings.

Don't miss the afternoon Bhog and evening and morning aarti. Those timings are the best to witness.

You might have to stand in queue for darshan which is normal in most of the times.

Rath Yatra and Janmashtami times - if you are travelling, please adapt little caution as the public visiting this place will be 10 times more or may be even more than that.

Thanks

The Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir is under construction and scheduled to be completed in 2022. I am sharing my experience of the road trip which I took during the first week of Nov 2017. Coincidentally this occasion is fell on Rash Purnima. I started my journey from my home near Ruby Hospital @ 7:00 AM. Took the road till airport 2.5 no gate and did a left turn towards Kalyani Expressway near Birati. The road was good and due to the early morning there was less traffic. Crossed Barrakpur and went towards Kalyani. Then took the right turn towards Haringhata to meet the NH 12 in Barajaguli. The road till Haringhata is good but it started to deteriorated in NH 12. The potholes are appearing frequently and the road getting narrower. Also this is a single way so overtaking the larger vehicles is a bit risky. Also there are small bikes / toto which are plying over the road so driving is not definitely stress less. Cruised through Simulari , Ranaghat, Fulia, Shantipur towards Krisnanagar. Take one customary break near Krishnanagar with wonderful sweets of Krishnanagar. Again Started our journey towards Mayapur. After crossing the Jalangi Bridge towards Dhuburi more took a left turn (well marked) towards mayapur. Now this is complete village road so drive cautiously and after 145 KM and 4.5 Hours later we reached Mayapur. Returned after a blissful day and took the same road but this time do not turned towards Kalyani Expressway but towards Barasat . The NH 12 road condition is not good for small cars like Alto, Santro, I10. But road condition does not matter for the serene and beautiful surroundings in ISKCON. Hare Rama Hare Krishna.
