Nice local inn with a curry restaurant
Unfortunately the pub and restaurant are now closed
I passed it last week and it was under offer so with a bit of luck it may reopen

Closed! - Too bad!
Oct 2018 • Family
I had heard good reports about this place and was looking forward to paying a visit whilst staying just a few yards away recently. Only to discover that it is now permanently closed! What a shame!

Excellent Meal and prompt bar service

Ahmed was an amusing friendly host and the food was excellent. I changed my choice on advice which was sound and provided a different meal from my normal; which was great. Thank you, every day is a learning day.

Lovely country pub with an Indian restaurant on the premises
Jan 2018 • Couples
This is a typical old country pub with a public bar and a small lounge bar, complete with beams and a log burning fire. There's a good choice of beer, but I only noticed John Smith's smooth on cask. Others I noticed, included Theakston's Best Bitter and Tiger lager on draught. The Indian restaurant (Saffron Spice) is situated in the rear of the pub, but my wife and I, and other customers, preferred to have our food brought into the pub lounge, as it was quite snug in there. The food was extremely good, and plenty of it. If you're really, really hungry, or have a large appetite, then by all means have a starter (eg: onion baji x 4). The Sheridan Sizzler has quite a lot of meat on it,as well as side dishes.

Good experience for casual dining
Jul 2017 • Couples
We entered this restaurant and immediately paid for a bottle of wine!
There was a lack of communication and we weren't sure about the protocol upon arrival. We were ushered to the back of the restaurant / conservatory and left alone for sometime.
The kind waiter took our order and Indian cuisine was very tasty!
Anyone dropping in should be informed about the procedures and enjoy their meal.

Local pub for local people only.
Sep 2015 • Friends
Where do you start with this place.landlord and landlady are on some sort of a power trip must be a scouse thing.
If they could barr some people for breathing they would.
If you're a local carrying a pitch fork and got an socializing problem you will be ok.
God forbid if you upset a native or swear outside the pub.
but it's fine for the native click to swear they can swear as much as they like with the landlords selective hearing.
The daughter that works behind the bar has a distinct lack of social skills.
It's a grubby little pub with a grubby curry house tagged on the back of it.
The curry is awfull.the natives think it's good but they don't know any different.
If you're driving your better of going to newton on ouse better Pub and better food only 10 minutes walk or 3 minute drive.

It is a shame that you have such sour grapes after being barred from this establishment. You know the reason that you have been told nt to come in. We will not tolorate any racist language or explicit bad language. This is a decent local pub were the locals enjoy a relaxed and fun atmosphere, although they do have a tendency to slip up with occassional swear words. As for our daughter who works for us, she is asperges and both you and your wife are well aware of this fact, so to have a go at her sums up your character or lack thereof.
