Cottage Garden Idyll.
Jun 2021
Wonderful extensive tranquil cottage garden divided into many "rooms", full of mature unusual and interesting plants. Absolutely superb!
Plant sales area also well stocked with unusual varieties all reasonably priced.
Tea room very nice with scrummy cakes. A delight to eat them outside on a warm day surrounded by lovely plantings.
We will be returning soon!

A perfect English summer's day.
Jun 2021
Been to a little touch of paradise today, what a magical garden visit with friends.I felt like we had travelled back in time to around 1905, and I was sat in the cottage garden in my muslim summer dress with my straw sun hat on awaiting my maid to bring me me tea and cucumber sandwiches (we can all dream)But these amazing gardens are the most wonderful escape from the mad turmoils of this world.Vanessa the lady who owns them has developed perfection with all her hard work and a little help, she should be very proud of her wonderful achievement.Especially loved the meadow garden, a haven for all the wildlife, we have had a day of pure perfection, and will most certainly visit again later in the year. Also a small coffee shop to buy tea and cakes, what more could one want. Only one gripe, we had to leave.Thank you for sharing the magic.

Wonderful place
May 2021 • Couples
Been past this place a thousand times but never visited before, what a wonderful place this is, not only did we find plants we were unable to find elsewhere we were astounded at the beautiful gardens attached to the nursery. Recommend that some research would be helpful before attending as there are no pictures of plants in bloom for guidance with colour or growth, but for assistance Mrs Cook is very helpful & makes you feel very welcome. Plenty of events upcoming even some for children so will make a great day out for the family. We did meet the resident cat also very friendly all in all a great day, we will return later in the year to see how the garden develops.

Delightful visit
Apr 2021
The gardens are looking very good and are in excellent condition. Lovely plantings of tulips to contrast shrubs and other plantings. The wildflower meadow is looking attractive with frittallies and cowslips. Very peaceful with lots of birdsong. good stock in the nursery.

Lovey!
Apr 2021
I'm lucky in that I live locally to these gardens. Visited with a friend today but pressed for time, so just made use of the cafe and plant nursery .
Excellent service and a lovey warm welcome from the new lady running the cafe... .. (only serving take-out drinks and cakes at present but outside seating available in the beautiful courtyard.)
Looking forward to a visit again soon....

Tranquility, glorious planting and a wildlife haven
Sep 2020 • Friends
We spent a wonderful couple of hours at Stillingfleet Lodge just before they closed up for the season. Such interesting planting with wonderful tips on what to look out for in each of the garden ‘rooms’ - so helpful to have the name of that spectacular salvia or giant eupatorium that you are itching to plant and the nursery has lots of interesting examples if you want to take them home with you. Lovely to see that such healthy and robust plants live on a chemical free diet with only homemade compost to sustain. The whole ethos of sustainable gardening with wildlife is at the fore and the birdsong alone is testament to the benefit of leaving plants to live their full life cycle with fruits and seeds to benefit the population. Immaculate lawns and hedges set off the voluminous borders but amongst those are surprising elements of formality with the contemporary rill garden and beech columns. Can’t wait to come back in a different season - such a hidden gem.

Wonderfully artistic gardens
Sep 2020
The gardens are fabulous, even on a dull, somewhat cold September day.
However, don't expect a formal garden! These gardens are wonderfully artistic, full of character, with lots of interesting structures as well as plants. The wide variety of trees look stunning with their striking bark. The pond and meadow areas in particular provide a haven for wildlife. We loved the block planting and fullness.
There are lovely surprises around each corner. There is a fantastic variety of plants many of which can be bought from the nursery.
The tea room is a lovely space, the coffee is good and the cake delicious. We also bought some freshly laid eggs from the chickens which can be seen around the garden. They were delicious. We can't wait to go back again in spring and summer.

Beautiful, will definitely go back again!

We loved our visit and will be back. The gardens are beautiful and varied and it's great to see so much being done to encourage and support local wildlife. We also really enjoyed our tea and excellent cake in the courtyard while getting to know the owner and her charismatic cat Donald.
