We are very happy that we choose to stay at Aurora Borealis Observatory. I live in Norway from 2017 and I maked some research about best place for the northern lights and that was right. I couldn't find any better place. The room was amazing, very clean, a lot of space with big windows and Jacuzzy on the terrasse. We where impressed by the restaurant and services. The reindeer meat was the best meat I ever ate I will strongly recomand. Staff was the part that make us want to come back. Matt pick up us from the boat terminal with 4 x 4 car. We started to talk about everything and we find he isw astronomer and her girlfriend photographer. They told us a lot of details about Aurora Borealis that we didn't knew from internet. Very friendly they informed us when we have best time to go out to hunt the northern light and we cathced them. We wasn't prepared with camera so we started to make pictures with our phones. They offer us to make pictures with their camera and we did much better photos. We really enjoyed our trip and we want to come back and stay longer.

Being at the Aurora Borealis was just an amazing experience. We had the infraestructure of a modern hotel and a perfect view surrounded by a dramatic landscape. Traveling during the COVID-19 may feel strange but we felt safe and secure at all times. May also add that this place, in the middle of the nature, is just the perfect kind of trip during these times. Jack and Matt picked us up from the station upon our arrival and where amazing hosts!! They gave us greats tips for enjoying the nature and understanding the northern lights. They also joined us for amazing hikes and picnics. Last but not least, we later found out that they were professional photographers and we ended up with pictures and videos that are truly breathtaking. Will recommend this place, our hosts and this experience 100%.

My husband and I visited the ABO in February, luckily managing to visit prior to the world locking down due to covid. What a holiday. We spent 4 nights staying in the Luxury suit with outside private jacuzzi. As soon as we arrived we was blown away. Pick up from the Finnsness ferry station was easily arranged, and we was able to stop off and get groceries to feed us for the time we stayed. We only needed dinners really as breakfast is included and you can easily eat enough to set you up for the day. The breakfast was hot, plentiful andyou could eat as much as you wanted, with a nespresso machine on tap for coffees. The apartment was amazing, cosy, comfortable and with everything you need. We had the most amazing views across to the mountains beyond, with nothing but snow snow and more snow to see. It was truly gorgeous and fairytale like. People need to realise this is NOT a hotel, it is more of a resort, where you are left to your own devices but the guys at the ABO are on hand via whatsapp when you need them. Everyone running the site is genuinely lovely, and they work really hard to give guests a great experience, but they sadly do not control the skies! We was beyond fortunate to see the Aurora every night of our stay, but the resort is a bit sneaky at not showing the amount of light pollution you get from across the bay from Finnsness and other dwellings. Every night the resident photographer Adrien was on hand to do talks about the aurora, and help out a couple of total novices with our camera. Note, DON'T VISIT HERE WITHOUT A TRIPOD like we stupidly did. It is very hard to shoot the aurora without it, which is something we had no idea about. We arranged two trips with the ABO prior to arrival, which we paid for at the reception. We did the full days tour around Senja, and the dog sledding. Both trips of a lifetime and beyond incredible. Darren the resident fellow Brit and all round awesome bloke was our guide and he did a fab job at showing us everything we needed to see, and know about. We was out all day, and it was worth every penny. I would definitely recommend both of these. Leaving was genuinely heartbreaking, and I cried pretty much the whole way to Bardufoss airport. I never wanted to return to reality, and cannot wait to return. We was incredibly lucky that we was able to visit as a couple, but next time will bring our children without hesitation. This was an amazing break, and one that although not cheap was genuinely worth every penny.

From beginning to end, our stay at the ABO was magical. The apartments were spotlessly clean and so comfortable. Renate and Darren made sure we knew how to use everything and that we had everything we needed. On our first night we all gathered in the lounge to get to know each other and had a fantastic aurora talk by the absolutely wonderful astronomer and photographer Matt Robinson and photographer and film makerJacqueline Garellick. During our stay, requirements concerning COVID-19 were put into place by the government which meant that any activities were put on hold. This in no way dampened our spirits and Magnuss, Renate, Darren, Matt and Jacqueline made sure that our stay there was everything and more than we had expected. The breakfast we had was absolutely delicious! I'm sure I put on at least half a stone from chocolate croissants. The aurora graced us with her presence on a couple of occasions, where Matt and Jacqueline took some of the most stunning photos (including one of my now fiancee getting down on one knee!) These guys really know their stuff! Thank you to all at the ABO for everything. We will most certainly be returning.

The whole experience has been a little surreal since we got caught in the midst of the Coronavirus epidemic however, what I can say is that this place is nothing short of incredible. From the very start the staff have been wonderful and thoroughly looked after us. We got to see the northern lights on a couple of occasions and it is the most gorgeous spectacle. The apartment we stayed in here is lovely, my fiancé and I had a wonderful time going on walks in the surrounding woods, feeding the reindeer and even a little sledding. It is as others say, self service apart from the breakfast, but that didn't bother us in the slightest. Simply having the opportunity to be in this most beautiful of surroundings and seeing the northern lights was worth every penny.
