We were able to see the Salmon begin their upstream journey to spawn. The visitor center was clean the rangers helpful and informative. Kids seem to enjoy the underwater view of the fish. The trail was short, easy and accessible. For all of these reasons, it made if a family friendly, but crowded and somewhat noisy hike.

Fall Fish Festival Day - lots to see and do for the children in our party! The Rainbow TRail was well laid out with informative signeage - taking us down towards the creek including beaver dams, ducks and lots fo countryside. The underwater viewing point was quite amazing - we were lucky because there were plenty of salmon to watch.... More

There are numerous trails which begin from the visitor center. They are all short and easy, but there is plenty of variety. Good for a sunny day.

Fun place to park and use the restroom, visit the below ground level stream observation to see the live fish. Short distance from south road to Fallen Leaf Lake, beautiful drive and keep driving until road ends at Lily Lake. Parking lot right there and gorgeous views of this alpine lake.

Unfortunately the fall salmon run had not commenced(expected in early October), but walking the trails and along the lake was super enjoyable.

Best gift shop in the area. Smokey Bear's home base. Talk to Ranger Kim. She is extremely knowledgeable

Nice short easy paved walking trail in the marshland next to the lake. Pets were allowed. Nice exhibit of salmon spawning area 1/2 way down the trail.

Good walk for little kids but there weren't any fish. The rangers at the visitor center were informative, however, the nose piercings were a distraction hard to explain to very young children. Maybe they could be more professional in appearance.

We went to see the Kokanee fish run. Well, we were there, fish were still roaming around somewhere else.
