If you're looking for something active, but not too strenuous to do in the South Lake Tahoe area, I recommend Anderson's Bicycle Rental for these reasons:
~The guy on the desk was very polite and explanatory, going over the bike path route on the map and helped adjust our saddles.
~Helmet, map and bike lock included. They do not provide hairnets for the helmets, so bring your own. I put my helmet on top of my hat so I had some sun protection. Bike locks are great for when you want to stop and explore a destination.
~Small parking lot on site or street parking. We arrived early, so we were able to park in the lot.
~The bike path cycle was very easy and pleasant, taking us to a few beaches, the Tallac site (Interiors were not open in September when we were there, except for one building where the gift shop was housed). We rode all the way to beautiful Fallen Leaf, which really made the ride worth it.
~We took a pack-lunch and ate it at Baldwin Beach where there is also a Visitor Center and trail.
~There are restrooms at several of the sights along the bike path.
~I recommend bringing bike gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat or hairnet. (For under the helmet).
~With a slight discount, we paid $54 for two bike rentals for 3 hours, (Sept '22) which was enough to do the bike path, including Fallen Leaf Lake and back at an easy pace. We're middle-aged.

I moved here from Colorado about 2 years ago and one of my bucket list items was riding a bike around the south end of Lake Tahoe. A friend just visited from Colorado and I researched which bike company I would rent from. I chose Anderson Bicycle Rental because of their location, which was close to the bike paths that I wanted to take along the shoreline. Also I didn't have to ride on any busy roads to get to the Lake, since I'm really safety conscious. PLUS, I liked that it was a family-owned business. And they had a lot of brand new bikes to rent out.... and they included helmets, and locks. All things were critical for me, and I was thoroughly happy with our experience renting from them. We had an extremely fun, leisurely day. We brought a lunch and ate at a picnic table on one of the beaches. I hope to return some day with my local friends.

It was so easy to rent from this company. The process was quick. Very informative employees. None of us had any issues with the bikes. Two of us took our own helmets but they do provide them if you want one. They also sell bottled water. There is no parking lot so you must park on the street.
Unfortunately there are a few bike riders who think they are practicing for the Olympics as they zoom past without any manners to say passing on the left. We rode early in the day at 10 am and as the day wore on entire families were on bikes. Little kids just learning how to ride two wheelers so the fast riders were an unwelcome, dangerous participants. There are also walkers and runners utilizing the same trail.
We very much enjoyed this and I recommend them.

Thank you for reviewing our business we certainly appreciate it. We are family owned and operated since 1978 and every employee is like family. I’m glad you enjoyed your experience with us. In regard to the parking lot situation, we do have a parking lot however due to Covid restrictions it is currently closed for social distancing. There is a lot of parking around the area, it is a residential area, and as long as You’re not blocking anyone’s driveway, mailbox or walkway there is never a problem. There’s approximately room 100 cars surrounding our area. Sorry for the inconvenience due to Covid! Yes that trail is utilized by all locals, all the companies in town, and runners as well. Trail belongs to the National Forest, everyone is free to enjoy, I do agree some Riders do not Show common courtesy, I hope they didn’t impact your experience too much! We hope to see you again soon. And again we’re glad you had an awesome time!

The friendly staff got us situated on bikes in 5 minutes. They explained the bike trails, gave us a map and pointers on the places not to miss. The views were absolutely amazing. The ride along Pope Beach was our favorite but we also stopped and got off the bikes at Taylor Creek to walk the Rainbow trail which was outstanding! The price was very reasonable for a 4 hour use of the bikes. The access to the bike trails was just down the street from the Anderson's bike shop.

Anderson Bike Rentals has taken such an impressive approach to keeping both their guests and employees safe during covid. You can tell the owner(s) really take pride in their business and very much value the safety of their employees and guests. The safety measures they have put in place are the best I’ve seen and really made my family and I feel safe. As soon as you enter the lot you are asked to sanitize your hands and to put on both masks and gloves that are provided by Anderson’s. Then when you go to fill out the paperwork they have tables set up and spaced apart so that groups can remain socially distant from one another. They are also disinfecting the bikes and equipment between riders. When you go back to pay they have also closed off the booth so that guests contact with staff is again minimized. Overall, really well done. Thank you!Aside from the covid safety measures the staff is friendly and the bikes were in good condition. The staff took time to answer all of our questions and we didn’t feel rushed. This is our second time renting from Anderson’s and will definitely return in the future.

Hello! Thank you so much for reviewing our business and mentioning all the things we have been trying to do during these difficult times and from the sounds of it, it looks like were succeeding in customer satisfaction, which is always our number one concern. I’m glad you had a wonderful time. We are family owned and operated, since 1978. Most likely you were dealing with one of my children. I’ve been with pride, when I think about how far they’ve come in the last four years. We all love what we do! We sure hope to see you again in the future.

Anderson’s offers a wonderful opportunity to ride a bike path somewhat away from the ever present crowds of Tahoe. The staff was courteous and when I experienced mechanical problems they quickly provided a replacement and adjusted the rental time. Easy to find , you can ride the bike path which is around 14 miles round trip in addition their are some side areas to explore.
Have fun at Anderson’s.

We wanted to rent a bike and see some of the areas of South Lake Tahoe. My hubby found Anderson’s Bike Rental on TA. It’s the perfect location to pick up a bike. The only negative is due to Covid the parking is on the street which was no problem since we found a spot easily. The Bikes were nice with a lock included if you wanted to stop and have lunch. This is a very nice family owned and run business. The young lady who set us up with our bikes was very friendly and gave us a map with great ideas of what to see and do. It’s a easy short ride to the path. When you enter the parks on bike there is no fee which saved us quite a bit of money visiting by bike. The path is nice and mostly flat. ( a few ups and downs but easy). We really enjoyed our day riding around and stopping at all the parks. Return was easy. I highly recommend this company.

This was one of the best activities we did while in Tahoe on our family vacation! The location was perfect. We did not want to rent bikes and have to ride on the busy streets. This is near the beginning of a beautiful trail that takes you to a couple beaches, a historical site, and you can stop at the ice cream shop or general store or even a nicer sit down restaurant overlooking the water. The views were amazing the whole way. Definitely make this place your bike rental destination! They have a neat video on their website too.

We have rented bikes all around Lake Tahoe and Anderson’s is THE BEST! So nice, attentive and just overall great customer service. Best part, they were polite, patient and attentive to our children. So close to the amazing bike trail, reasonable prices!
Parking is the only issue you will face when renting from here. Tip: take the trail to Fallen Leaf Lake!

What a fun night last night at Anderson's Bicycle Rental . They had their first night bike ride with their bikes decorated with lights on their wheels, gave out a few ABR t-shirts that actually glow in the dark, and we cruised the bike path.
What a blast!
We are long time locals and whenever we have friends visiting, we ALWAYS send them to Anderson's Bikes. The entire staff is so friendly and the best prices too! Right on the bike path along the forest and lake.
I hope they keep doing this.
