I made a reservation ahead of time and I would suggest doing that online ahead of time. That way you pay for your trip and license at the same time. You can make a reservation and then pay the day of your trip at the company store but it takes more time. I booked a morning trip and it was a great choice. It is cooler in the morning and in my estimation, the fish are more active. I was by myself and a family of 5 from LA went on the same boat. 6 was the perfect size group. Dress in layers as suggested so that you will not be cold as it is cool on the lake in the morning. Captain Paul was awesome and pointed out the safety features prior to launch. You can bring your own food. He did have coffee and water on the boat. There is also a bathroom. Remember it is a fishing vessel so the bathroom is serviceable but don't expect more than it is. Captain Paul taught everyone how to fish for the lake trout. You are jigging in water up to 200 feet deep so expect some physical exertion. The bite was on and it was a lot of fun. We caught 11 trout and the scenery on the lake was beautiful. There is a mate to help as well. They clean the fish for you and you can take them to Macduff's Public House and they will cook them for you three ways and they are awesome! Be sure to plan so you can make a reservation to eat there. Take your fish and give them some time. For example I took my fish around noon and could have eaten them at 2:30. I chose the next day which was fine as well. On the way back to the dock, our boat hit something. Turned out it was somebody's jacket that was in the lake. It wrapped itself on the motor. Much to our surprise< Captain Paul went into the frigid water and freed it which was way above and beyond! The price is well worth the experience and the fish are marvelous to catch and eat! Perfect morning of fishing.

I had the most amazing morning on Lake Tahoe with Captain Chad and the other fishermen
Chad put us on the fish but the conditions were rough so we lost a couple
In the end we all caught a nice Mackinaw Lake Trout to take home.
Very well run company with great people and a large fleet to accommodate any size group.friendly and knowledgeable skippers make you feel at ease.
I highly recommend Tahoe Sport Fishing
The memories you make will last a lifetime

Captain Boogie was super fun, and really informative about the lake and the fish. This was a fun time, and I caught my first salmon. If you want to try your luck out on the lake I could highly recommend tahoe sport fishing and captain boogie as your guide! I will be coming back again soon!

My husband and I booked a last minute fishing trip wanting to take advantage of a beautiful day on the lake and catch a few fish. We didn't expect to meet 2 new friends in Captain Paul and deckhand Donnie. What a great day full of fish, fun and laughter. Captain Paul put us on the fish and the lines were hitting all afternoon. Donnie didnt slow down making sure lines were baited and fish were going in the cooler. We ended the day at MacDuffs Pub cooking up our catch, served on a platter of divine dining.
If you want a great day of fishing and lake memories, ask for these guys and be ready to hear "Fish On!"

The scenery, socializing and fishing was great! Our Captain Mack was very cordial, experienced and educational. Four of us caught our 2 fish limits of Mackinaw lake trout to 6 pounds in about 3 hours in the morning and had other hook ups. Very exciting to have 2 hook ups and one time 3 hook ups at once! Our captain also cleaned and bagged the fish. I am scheduling to return soon and will do so every time I can when in South Lake Tahoe.

UPDATE to my Original Review which I posted below:
Folks at Tahoe sports fishing reached out to me promptly and were very nice to offer me a gift certificate to come back again (for all 3 of us). It proves the other reviews that they give a high value to customer satisfaction. I updated the rating to 4 instead of the 3 I had given earlier. I would definitely return next time I am in the Tahoe area.
Original Review:
I along with 2 of my friends booked the Tahoe Fishing Charter on Sep 6th. The booking and check-in were smooth. Although Masks are recommended, it wasn't mandated and that was fine with us. The put us on Hawk II with captain Billy. He was knowledgeable, patient, and always alert. We caught 17 fish total and made 60% which was great.
I think as a fishing experience, this is great for newbies who have no clue about fishing. For those who are experienced, there isn't much to learn or do since they use high tech gear. But it could be a nice experience on the lake if that's what groups/ families are looking for.
The reason for giving 3 stars though was something we didn't expect to happen to us. We along with another group were on the boat. In the end, before heading back to the shore, the captain asked if we wanted our fish filleted and we said yes. He started filleting and then did for a few fish which were all given to the other group. Thre Deckhand who was completely new was cleaning the other fish and we thought they would eventually do it for us, but the captain brought us back and wished us a good day. We were confused. Secondly, although they use high tech gear my group caught 10 of the fish and when the fish was divided among us, the other group got more than we did. While I truly wish it was not true, there has got to be a Bias issue here since we were all Asians and the other group was Caucasians. And that was a bummer. :( Otherwise being on the lake early in the morning is truly an amazing experience

Great fishing charter with captain Bobby. He was very helpful as we are not “fishing experienced “. I mean I had never even baited a hook before.
The lake was beautiful and not too choppy. (I don’t get seasick though). We were on the Hopper 5. It was a well equipped boat with everything you need to catch some fish.
And boy, did we ever catch fish! 19 salmon and 1 trout between the 4 of us. It got really exciting when more than one pole had a fish on it at a time.
Bobby cleaned our fish and we grilled them for dinner. So good!
I definitely would recommend Tahoe Sport Fishing on your visit to Lake Tahoe.

Memories of a lifetime! Captain Bobby was fantastic- friendly, fun, and knew where the fish were. We caught our limit of kokanee salmon and lake trout in an hour, then cruised while drinking coffee and trading stories. Bobby then told us to take our fish to MacDuff's Pub, where they would prep the fish we caught and serve them in various preparations. An experience not to miss!

I signed my kids and hubby up for an early morning public charter fishing trip (6am-11am). Everything was organized - they got right onto the boat with Captain Tim and Riley, along with 6-8 other clients. TSF provided all of the gear and expertise. My daughter caught 4 mackinaw trout, my son and husband each caught 2 (yes, she was pretty stoked). Everyone caught at least 1 for a total of 22. We only kept 5 of our 8 as we didn't bring anything to take our fish home in. (See review for Macduff's restaurant). My kids (teenagers) thoroughly enjoyed the trip and said that the early start was totally worth it and the 5 hours zipped by (they were never bored!!) My husband was so happy with the entire adventure.

First timers the five of us enjoyed the afternoon on the lake and caught several trout. Bobby and Anthony are both great, helping us newbies land a large cooler full of decent sized fish. There were 9 people total including crew and that is about all the little boat can handle. It was comfortable and a smooth ride both ways to the other end of the lake. Highly recommend for a bucket list item, we all had a great time. Took the fish to MacDuffs Pub who cooked and served them for lunch.

My fiancé and myself are going to her favorite place in the entire world, The lake. How much would it cost for 1/2 day charter fishing with a guide for the 2 of us. Wouldn’t mind sharing with another 2. Didn’t want in a big boat with many many people.
