Very peaceful small village with very nice old streets. Lovely small hotels il you stay in the old part of the city. We were alone when we visited the Confucius temple, an incredible time to rest and enjoy this wonderful place

Weishan old town was the cradle of Nanzhao kingdom(a kindom established byYi Minority), the history can be traced back to 7th centuary. Its a very nice old town and not touristic. It was a important town on the ancient tea and horse road. when you visit weishan, you will have chance to visit taoism temple on weibaoshan mountain. you will also enjoy the traditional Bai people's building design. local people are friendly and dont forget to try the local snack, such as famous "one noddle" , Bean jelly ,deep- fried grasshopper and different kinds of Cakes. enjoy the old town!

After the crowds of a Disneylike Lijiang and the busy modernized Dali , Weishan is everything these two WERE before . The village just does what it does and cares not about tourists . No one speaks english , the menus do not exist : you just point at things in the fridge and they make a delicious dish .
I absolutely loved the feeling that i went back in history . If you wander into the new city , you can buy your yoghurt or with some luck a coffee .

We stayed in Weishan for two days and enjoyed wandering around the authentic-feeling, charming old town and visiting the local market. We had timed our visit to fall during the Yi Torch Festival, which was a bit smaller this year due the epidemic, but we enjoyed seeing some traditional dancing in the square and locals lighting torches in the streets (carefully monitored by firemen, to avoid damaging the wooden old town). One of our favorite stops on our trip!

Spend a few hours enjoying the lovely lanes of the old city. They are lined with interesting shops and food vendors. One to two hours is all you need.

There are a few old streets with huge touristic potential, but not developed yet, hence it's a great opportunity to visit old China in a quiet environment. Menghua Old Home in particular is worth visiting, only 10 RMB and you can go everywhere inside, it's beautiful. Ni visitors at all when we were there.

At the time of writing Weishan still has the feel of an authentic old town with great charm and a wide range of interesting shops, goods and services. In early April it was very quiet, with hardly anyone from out of town exploring its streets. Combined with the temples of Weibaoshan, it makes for a great day trip from Dali.

Very quiet and uncrowded Old Town, with well preserved or reconstracted small buildings along the main streets, occupied by living there people or running small shops and points of services. The impressive Gongchen Tower, overlooking the surroundings. No Western tourists at all. The local people very friendly, allought zero English communication.

Weishan is beautiful. A lot is recreated beauty but that is done so well in China that you can't fault it. It is worth a visit to be amongst Chinese people on their holidays, having fun, eating out, buying souvenirs. We didn't see another Westerner for the two days we were here. No English is spoken but the people are so nice and friendly and accommodating that you never have any issues. At the end of the food street off the main drag, there is a lovely restaurant where we ate a couple of times.
