What is there to explain? The beautiful autumnal pictures speak for themselves. Electric buses drive from the visitor center to the Scenicarea. From there we explored the area. If you have trouble breathing at this altitude, you can buy a bottle of oxygen.
Unfortunately, we don't have enough time on our road trip, but next time I'll bring enough time to hike more extensively here.

This is a huge but beautiful place to visit while in Sichuan. We were given 4 hours, which is definitely not sufficient. The bus ride along will take at least 1.5 hours one way. Hence, would definitely advice potential visitors to spend at least a full day here to take things leisurely. There are many beautiful spots for photography

Bipenggou (毕棚沟) is a high altitude valley between 2000m and 5000m, 4 km wide and 45 km long. It has become an ecotourism resort, or officially known as Bipenggou Scenic Resort. It is located in Piaotou Township, Li County, on the northern face of Siguniang Mountain, about 198km to the northwest of Chengdu.

Autumn is my favorite time to visit Bipenggou Scenic Area, a time to see the valley blanketed with autumn golden hues, a natural palette, like a fairyland on earth. If you are in Chengdu, you are highly advised to make a day trip to Bipenggou from Mid-September through the end of November.

In Bipenggou Scenic Area, you will see virgin forests, plateau lakes, snow-capped mountains, all year round glaciers, alpine meadows, limpid streams and waterfalls. It is a piece of pure land with zero air pollution index. You may come here any time of the year : snow skiing in winter; greenery in spring; flowering in summer and golden colors in autumn.

There are three daily buses going from Chadianzi Bus Station in Chengdu to Li County ( 7:10am; 8:10am; 9:00am ) and bus fare 58-62 yuan. In Li County, then you try to share a local bus going to Bipenggou ( about 20 yuan per person ). If you would like to stay overnight in Bipenggou, you may stay at Bipenggou Hotel (Tel: 0837 – 6828666 ) , not far from the entrance to Bipenggou Scenic Area. But you still need to walk about 10 minutes to get to the Tourist Center for a shuttle bus going up to the valley.

Buying your entrance ticket ( 80 yuan ) and shuttle ticket ( 60 yuan) at the Tourist Service Center. Opening hours: 07:00 am – 5:00 pm. Line up at the tourist service center for taking a shuttle bus up to Shanghaizi 上海子 ( 28km from the tourist center) in the middle of the valley. Sightseeing around Shanghaizi, then you may take an electric car up to the Moon Bay (月亮湾), 4 km from Shanghaizi, almost the end of the valley open to the public.

Alternatively you can hike up from Shanghaizi to Moon Bay (4km). After sightseeing around Moon Bay, you either take an electric car back to Shanghaizi or walk down the valley to Shanghaizi ( 4km ). From Shanghaizi, you take the shuttle bus back to the tourist service center to end your trip to Bipenggou.

Bipengou is freezing in the early morning, put on enough warm clothes, and be prepared for the temperature change in the morning and evening. The most visited area from Shanghaizi to Moon Bay is located at the sea-level of about 3000m. So get ready for your trip and prevent altitude sickness.

I absolutely loved visiting this place. If you want to go, I'd recommend taking the bus from Chengdu to Lixian (Li County). Get off at Taoping Qiang Village and see that, then hire a car back to Lixian. It'll be about 30 yuan or so. In Lixian, hire a private car from 50-80 yuan to take you to the scenic area. Stay the night in one of the many hotels, then get up the next morning and be there at 8:00am when it opens.

It's a beautiful area, but one thing to note is that the weather is usually better in the morning, at least in the summer. During the summer months, the clouds and mist roll in big time in the afternoons and soak the place until late at night. In the morning, it'll be dry with blue skies and sun!

Beautiful lakes, mountains, and waterfalls surround you, especially in the final valley near the end of the road. It's simply breathtaking. I've been living in China for 7.5 years and this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been here. It's like being back in Colorado or somewhere equally beautiful back in the USA.

Another tip: the last segment of the trip gets COLD. I'd recommend bringing a light jacket to put on later. I went in mid-June, and it was about in the 40s (Fahrenheit) - nearly freezing - up in the final valley. I was in a t-shirt and shorts and was fairly, but not unbearably cold. Keep moving, and you'll be fine.

This trip is worth it!! I saw another review saying there was a lot of trash when they were there, but I have to say, I didn't really see any trash. It was pretty clean, but maybe if you go later in the day, the locals will have littered all over the place - it does happen. But like I said - go in the morning!! It's so much better!! Less people and better weather :)

Bipenggou is a famous domestic tourist destination for red and golden yellow leaves, following Jiuzhaigou National Park. You need also take about 40-minutes sightseeing bus to the gate of Park. Entering in the park, you can choose to hike for sightseeing or take the sightseeing battery car for transfering. Of course, you can view more beautiful sceneries by hiking. It is the terminal place of treking from Changping Valley in Mount Siguniangshan. Therefore, you can view many everlasting snow-capped mountains in the park.

I am not rating Mother Nature's work but the infrastructure and the experience i had.

The scenery is lovely in the winter, especially after snowfall.

BiPengGou valley is located on the northern side of Siguniang Shan Nat. Park.

If you have been there before, then BipengGou is nothing new. The landscapes are very similar.

In the winter, many pathes are being shutdown. Due to heavy snowfall.

It drastically reduce the time spent in the park. You'll end up being stuck with the average tourists, taking selfies everywhere. It can be annoying and frustrating, if you wanted to escape the crowds.

Transportation within the park is fluid and well-organized. Food and drinks available, but Chinese cuisine only.

Easy to travel :)
First of all, I recommended to stay one night at Lixian. I stayed at Jixiang Zilian Hotel because of friendly and kind staffs especially female general manager :) she can speak English and helped me a lot for example took us to the bus station, took us to the good family restaurants, booked the bus ticket without fee.
Then in the morning we hired a private driver to took us to Bipenggou valley spent time 30-45 minute from our hotel (round trip 100 yuan).
After that bought ticket for bus, entrance fee and electrical car to reach tourist attractions.
Bipenggou valley is so stunning with snow mountain, lake and etc. :)

If you dream about going to Jiuzhaigou, but you do not have enough time, Bipenggou is the best choice. It's called "the small Jiuzhaigou". Mountains, mountain river, small lakes are marvelous. Being at about 2000-2500 meters above sea level, you can enjoy seeing the intricate mountane curves, breathing in the fresh air. The weather in Bipenggou is another amazing thing, especially sudden weather changes. It can be bright and suddenly start raining. It's worth going there!

Me and 2 friends visited the Bipenggou mountain in the Miyalou scenic area in Sichuan, China.
The site is very beautiful, with a long river you walk by, huge mountains with snow on the peaks, big lakes, lot of trees and nice waterfalls you pass by.

We slept in Miyalou, a small and peaceful village about 50 km from the site. There are 2 daily buses to Miyalou from Chengdu, 8:10 and 10:30 am.

In Miyalou there are a lot of hotels and they are pretty expensive, but after a short bargaining we got a nice room for 3 for 150 yuan. Just ask the locals about hotels and they will show you the way.
Getting to the site is not easy and there is no public transportation there.
We took the bus back to Chengdu(6:30 and 7:30 am) and went off at the junction going to the site (50 km from Miyalou) and then hitchhiked to the site.
The price for entrance is 80 yuan and you have to take a shuttle to the top that costs 60 yuan, but there is a student discount (25%).
In the end of the day, we hitchhiked back to Miyalou.

The site as I said is very beautiful, especially if the weather is good (we had snow and after a while it got sunny and warm), but there are a lot of Chinese tourists, so if you are looking for a place to be alone, this is not the place for you.
In the end, we had a great experience and a wonderful day, but take in mind that the time you put into getting to the site compared to what you do, doesn't always pay off.
I highly recommend going there if you have 3 free days around Chengdu and you are not searching for a hard intense trek.

Hi, everyone, the scenery at this mountain is absolutely breathtaking. On the day of our visit, the sky turned dark & threatened to rain. Then rain turned to ice & hail turned to snow. within minutes, the coniferous trees with their golden yellow crowns are blanketed with snow. The snow queen has waved her magic wand & transformed the autumn foliage to a winter wonderland. Absolutely fabulous scenery rivalling that of Europe &USA.
