Very disappointed
Sep 2018 • Couples
Very mitigated and even disappointed by Bingzhonluo. As a frequent travellor around the world, i found Bingzhonluo very dirty and dusty. Wild dogs evrywhere and weird smell come from the shops and streets. The transport was not easy. We took 16 hours to arrive to Bingzhonluo from Liuku because of bad road conditions and the road renovation project. The bus itself is old and dirty. We were covered in dust when arrived at our hostel (Delamuh hostel, the '' best'', in the village because is not on the main road). People' s life isn't easy here where their only belief is the power of the Chinese government and what the goverment tells them.
The only positive and recommendable place here is Qiunatong where you can find magnificent landscape and litter-free nature. Good luck!

BingZhongLou, a gem hidden in the Nujiang Valley
Feb 2013 • Friends
Excellent is all relevant. If your looking for 5 Star travel and accommodations then is not for you. If your looking for a 5 Stars in experience then this valley will meet it.

The road from Liuku to BingZhongLuo is narrow but is in good condition. There are some great views of the river along the way and on the south side of BingZhongLuo at the 1st and 2nd bends. There are equally great views if you travel further north to at least the first bridge crossing.

Spend a couple of days in BingZhongLuo, walk to the 1st bend lookout to watch the sun rise in the snow covered mountain. The White against the Black is stunning. During the day the go to both lookouts to sit and take in the views.

Travel further north past another lookout at river level and Fog Village and up to the bridge.

There is a fee to pay before you enter BingZhongLuo, we got there late so didn't have to pay it.

Bingzhongluo township disappointing
Oct 2012 • Friends
The countryside is lovely, but if you expect Bingzhongluo Township an idyllic village you are wrong: a sprawl of modern house along a dusty road. You'll find a number of hostels with decent rooms with ensuite bathrooms (squat toilets). We liked the Demalu Kezhan on Shi Men Guan for the more atmospheric rooms and the sweet landlady. Next door is Aluo's Guesthouse with just as clean rooms. Most hostels double as tour organizers and can arrange trips in jeeps to Dimaluo or up the Nujiang canyon; though we simply drove in our car to see these sights.

Rooms were plentiful when we arrived, but during chinese holidays that might be different when Chinese Hiking Clubs appear in groups.

Highly recommended

Did it the other way around. Started in Cizhong guided by Alou's friend Wuqi. Cycled down from Deqing. Cycle on back of a pony and then hiked up. We got over in two days but legs hurt for next few days so suggest three days hike. Two 4000m peaks along the way. A good and only way over from the Mekong to Nujiang unless you want to go far south. Great landscape. So far a very unspoilt part of China. Suggest bring own gear. Be careful of leaches and your rubbish so monkeys don't keep you awake at night. Suggest don't go in summer as views in the mist, wet and landslides. Late spring or Autumn sound good.

Highlight of a trip to Nu Jiang - easily accessible with good facilities
Nu Jiang is a great place to visit in Yunnan, a good alternative to the more touristy spots. Views ate great and the people are interesting.

At the northern end of the gorge is the little hamlet of Bingzhonluo. It has the moist dramatic scenery in the whole of the gorge, and is a Yunnan "must see". There are good hotels to stay in, I stayed in a new place just at the entrance to the town, 80 yuan for a spotless new room worth mountain views.

Restaurants only serve Chinese food, but there was one cafe where it was nice to sit in the evening and have a drink. It had wifi as well.

The sights and the people were fascinating and are easily accessible. Don't hesitate to come here even if you don't speak chinese, you will have a great time.

Note that there are some good trekking opportunities in the region if you carry tent, sleeping bag etc.
