I have been living in Perth for almost 30 years and never thought about visiting the Lesmurdie Falls. Was absolutely amazed about the place. Really great bushwalking, beautiful views and native vegetation. Nice getaway from the city bussle .

The hike down to the falls is about 1 to 2 hrs depending on the trail and how often you stop. It is a pleasant hike with about low to medium difficulty, with the more difficult parts towards the falls. Good for families and if...More

We went after some winter rain, beautiful falls and flowing with water, lots of families out enjoying the winter sun. Good easily identifies pathways for all ages, great facilities for picnics and toilet facilities clean and tidy.

Landed in Perth, then drove straight here from the airport, as it’s an easy and short drive. There are a few different walks you could do(some involving lots of steps), so we only did a short walk to view the falls. The bonus is that...More

A great trek for a family with youngsters. Bit more difficult for toddlers or babies due to uneven ground, but distance of 1k round trip easily doable. Try drinking the water in the stream - cool and fresh. Be careful on the rocks at the...More

Wildflowers near Perth (5 Replies)
How are the wildflowers looking this season? Can anyone recommend a good spot for bushwalking / wildflowers within ~1 hour of Perth (northern inner suburbs) for next weekend? It's only a short visit so not looking to go too far. Walked up, down and around hills near Lesmurdie Falls last September. The flowers were probably past their peak at that time but still good. What was striking was the amount of Patterson's Curse; don't remember that from my childhood but after spending the last 10...More

Because of the rainfall this year the season started early (everything at Kings Park bloomed way earlier than was expected!). This site is pretty handy http://www.wildflowerswa.com/en/WA+Wildflowers/default.htm gives details of the various trails. http://www.wavisitorcentre.com/en/Wildflowers+in+Western+Australia.htm Around a 2 hours drive is Wongan Hills and Goomalling - both have an abundance of flowers at the moment. Think I saw last nights forecast for the week as cold and...More
