Very serene

Very calm and quiet place at extremely high altitude. Surrounded by the snow capped peaks all around the valley, it gives a godeus look.

Incredibly beautiful
Dec 2020 • Couples
We visited during our North sikkim trip on way to Kalapatthar after visiting Gurudongmar lake. It is an extremely picturesque valley down below that you can enjoy from the road above. We visited in early December when there were specks of snow in the otherwise rugged terrains, creating an ethereal view with the jaw dropping mountains in the background

"CHOPTA VALLEY in North Sikkim"
Nov 2019
What could be more fascinating than hiking down the beautiful Chopta Valley (Around 4000 mtrs altitude) The hike downwards through the valley takes about 3 hrs starting from the base of Kala-Pathar and reaching down to Thangu Village. The hike gives an experience of being in high altitude mountains and feeling it....Chopta Valley is about 26 Kms from Lachen and one has to leave early morning (around 05 am) to reach Thangu Village where one stops for hot tea/coffee and some light breakfast i.e. Jam and Toast and Maggi etc. From Thangu its about 15 minutes drive to the base of Kala-Pathar and then that is where the hike downwards begin. Overall its a beautiful short hike in the high mountains wherein you still need to be in a good shape.

Visited during this Oct'19. Road is bit narrow. But scenic beauty is mesmerizing. Snow clad mountains surrounding this location.

Its Heaven on earth

Very good place. Must visit if you are at Lachen. Beautiful scenic view. Unbelievable natural beauty. Further you can go up to Kala Pathar, a place full of snow and mind blowing hill top view.

A beautiful view of the cold dessert

The drive itself is so wonderful, one would not feel tired of the journey. Although the roads are very bad in this area. one can feel the pleasant atmosphere to compensate. The river gives company all way long.

Nothing special
May 2019 • Family
I don't find it any thing special. No activities.. No special scenic beauty... Rather may visit to Kala Paththar which is new location having Snow covered area all time in year.

Amazing place on the way to Gurudomgmar lake
May 2019 • Family
The valley has a great view of Himalayan mountains and straight road. How ever the condition of the road is not that good. You pass through various army camps enroute to reach Gurudomgmar lake. Must go place if you are in Lachen. You would need permit which your tour operator will arrange for.
