About
Icy air streams across your face, snow crunches under your feet, and the view nearly takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Mittelland up to the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch glacier, bordered by four thousand metre peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 metres above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

    Got engaged at the top.
We were very lucky with the weather when we went; clear and sunny albeit with a very cold wind. The only downside was the Ice experience which was very dangerous with no warning signs - why no mats at one side to stop people falling over? Very poor signing with no alternative rouye/s shown. Why not?

Fantastic mountain world that is worth exploring, even if it is expensive.
Fantastic views of the Aletsch Glacier and the surrounding mountains! Interesting tour of Alpine Sensation, Sphinx, Ice Palace. Unfortunately, the hike to the Mönchsjochhütte is not possible. Event preparation with sound check on the Sphinx. Disturbing! The trip is expensive, but you will be compensated with a majestic mountain world!

    Amazing views
Amazing views, perfect on a sunny day. Be aware that when you travel in spring/ summer there are huge groups who take up all the space and are very loud. We where happy to be back in winter, a much quieter and nicer experience. We recommend to stay at least 2-4 hours, there are also restaurants up there. Due to high altitude you might feel tired. We love taking the route by train via Kleine Scheidegg.

    Exceptional
Excellent facility as well as the staff. Enjoyed the air tram, train, and facilities cleanliness. Enjoyed the views from the Top of Europe and would recommend to family and friends traveling from the United States. I wish it was more accommodating to the elderly and those with a disability. Missed half the tour due to lack of true hand rails.

    Top of europe.. best view
Arrived to the Grindelwald station at 8.36 am, not so many people. We can easily get to the cable car then train. Cost CHF 211 because we dont have swiss pass and late for morning ticket. Its a place worth visiting. Like this place a lot.

    Breathtaking scenery!
There is something really beautiful about the whole region of Canton Bern, it's a lovely place The experience of Jungfraujoch takes approximately 8 hours, and it's a full day of breathtaking scenery. Interlaken, an absolutely wonderful town, was our starting point by train. On the way, you can visit beautiful Alpine villages such as Grindevald, which looks like something out of a fairytale. To get to the top of Europe we also took a cable car and on arrival, we were absolutely enchanted. Although there are plenty of tourists during the winter season, and it is not a cheap trip (everything is very expensive) the climb to the top is well worth it. You can enjoy a unique view of the Alps, but make sure to wrap up warm as we faced temperatures that were -15 degrees. We loved it and totally recommend it.

Wonderful place to visit from Interlaken/Grindelwald
Must visit place in Grindelwald. We came from Interlaken city through private car and park the car in Grindelwald terminal multistoried car parking. We have visited Sphinx terrace, Ice Palace (very interesting - everything from the floor to the walls to the ceiling along with about 30 sculptures are made of ice), Glacier Plateau (a breathtaking panoramic view of one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the Alps), Eigergletscher, Kleine Scheidegg. There are lot of things to do and see. So, please study and get an idea on your priority before visiting. We missed Grindelwald-first.

Seriously disrespectful of our time, but the experience was still incredible
The good: The entire facility from start to end has had no expense spared. It's incredible. The views and experience at the top are amazing. A simple sentence but seriously, amazing! The bad: I thought that Jungfraujoch had a good, informative website, until we showed up. We queued for close to 2.5hours. that + travel time meant it took about 3 hours for us to make it up. The system for letting you on your gondola or train is awful and disrespectful of your time. Groups SWARM and have priority over ever single mode of transport. We booked out tickets online and gave times for departure and return, but we still counted as 'no reservation'. Which meant that we sat around for hours whilst hundreds of people went before us. The website didn't explain this situation fully enough, and the company must know what delays the average guest will expect based on the number of groups booked in. FYI we went on a random Tuesday in May. I recommend showing up earlier than we did, which was around 11. I think that was peak time(which we didn't know). Summary: Do it! But mentally prepare yourself for a long wait, or an early start. Or maybe both!

Amazing Place with rude behavior at Bollywood Restaurant
The views were amazing. We took so many photos and videos. Little drizzle of snowflakes was amazing. Overall the place is wonderful. Went up by cable car and came down by train. This can be reversed as well. But train journey from on the top is also very beautiful. HOWEVER, one concern about Bollywood Restaurant (Indian Restaurant) on Jungfraujoch. Rude Behavior from staff member of Indian origin. Was on Europe Tour. Went to the top of Europe. Found an Indian Restaurant. Being a vegetarian Indian it is a blessing to find an Indian restaurant in Europe. There were two staff members, one probably Swiss and the other one of Indian origin. By default went to the person of Indian origin. Firstly he denied entry. The Swiss staff then pitched in and allowed us. Saw the difference between the behavior of the two staff members. Was shocked enough to see the RUDE behavior of the staff member of Indian origin especially towards Indians, that I am writing this review after almost 10 days. Some higher authority needs to tell him that he may be firm if required, but he needs to be polite.

    Amazing views
We visited today on the eiger express going up and train back down. Despite it being very expensive we loved the views and the ice palace. We also went on the zip wire which was great fun. It’s a shame they didn’t have more seating and deckchairs in that area as that is the one thing that is missing from the whole place … outdoor seating areas to have a drink and soak up the view. The restaurant was fully booked so we went to the self service restaurant which was very overpriced but I suppose they have a captive market. I wished I had realised there was an Indian buffet as that sounded great.

Wonderful experience and breathtaking with the splendid view of the Swiss Alps. We booked the Guided Tours Best Of Switzerland Tours tour, we paid 230 Swiss francs per adult and 134 Swiss francs per child. We left Zurich at 8:00 a.m. by bus where we made a stop at Interlaken for 1 hour, we continued our journey to Grindelwald where we took the funicular to the top of the Eigergletscher mountain, from there we took the train inside the mountain to the top of the Jungfraujoch, at 3454 meters altitude. Many people get bad on the road due to the rapid altitude change, so it is recommended to drink plenty of water and feed during the ride. Arriving there we had a fondue lunch at the Crystal restaurant on account (not included in the tour), the fondue was divine and very alcoholic.
Then we went to play in the snow and take spectacular photos of the glacier. Our stay at the top of the mountain was about 2.5 hours (I found it very short) and then we went back by train to Grindelwald and returned by bus to Zurich. The tour takes 12 hours, the whole day and the whole route has breathtaking views! It's worth it!

The scenery/views on Top of Europe was amazing. We got lucky. The weather was sunny. If we had planned to go a day or two earlier, we wouldn't have experienced the beautiful mountains, snow, glacier and all the nature this place offered. It was just WOW. Some folks think the place is touristy and expensive and to some degree they are right. But the infrastructure takes man power and money to built so we can experience this in a comfortable and easy way. So its understandable the people behind it has to recoup the cost. Furthermore, we bought the good morning ticket from the Grindelwald train station so we can get a discount. Despite we planned to get to Jungfrajoch early, we were delayed. The Eiger Express cable car had technical issue so we were stuck in line for 30 minutes. The announcer told customers the EIger was suspended but never said for how long and whether or not we should stay in line or get our money back(dont know if that was possible). But after about 30mins, they were able to get the show on the road and shipped people to their Eiger Glacier , then onward to Jungfraujoch. Lastly we were concerned that we would experience attitude sickness at about 11K feet, but we didn't have major problem. DW got a minor headache for awhile and that was it. For anyone that are concern, you can buy Oxygen canister at Interlaken West train station pharmacy(expensive, over 30CHF a can) or at Interlaken Jungfrau Top of Europe Flagship Store(saw many cans of the oxygen).

I was apprehensive about visiting Jungfraujoch as I'd read mixed reviews and the cost is quite steep. However, I'm glad we visited as it is a great day out. We attended quite early in the day getting on the Eiger Express cable car at 9AM, at this point the weather was very bad, raining and foggy, we were the only ones in the cable car so no issues with queues or crowding. The train to the top was also very quiet, but again I'm sure this was due to the weather. We got lucky break as when we finally got the top the cloud coverage began to disperse and the sun came out. The views are spectacular and due to not many people being up there we could take things at our own pace, this made experience alot better. I would recommend taking a walk out towards Mönchsjoch Hut, we did'nt walk all the way there, but it allows you to get away from the crowds and really take in the scenery. The exhibits are very interesting highlighting the history of railway and Ice cave is good fun. Prices in the restaurant are high but that is offset by good portion sizes. We got on the train down at half 1, at this point it was getting very busy. I would recommend getting up the mountain as early as possible to avoid feeling rushed by crowds.

Overall, despite the high price it's a very unique experience that is well worth your time, and further to this there is many amazing hikes that can be done after/before your visit, notably the Eiger trail.

There’s no denying this is a unique experience and an unbelievable opportunity to see the alps at a high altitude. However, you really need to assess your own situation and determine if it’s worth it financially and in terms of travel stress. As others have mentioned, while Swiss run trains wonderfully on time, we witnessed several incidents where they are simply unable or unwilling to manage crowds. It means as a tourist (already dealing with high prices everywhere) you may feel ripped off by attractions that are very expensive and ultimately unpleasant due to unruly crowds. We went on one of the three first trips of the day because it’s less expensive and we thought less crowded. I already had cranky family members who didn’t enjoy being awakened early and then the crazy crowds tested all our patience. The train from Interlaken at 730 am was fine and so was the first cable car from Gindelwald. It’s once you try to get on the train to the top that it all falls apart. Absolute mayhem with no order to the line. There are other ways to enjoy the Alps with less stress and less financial investment. If you do go, absolutely buy a seat reservation and calculate how long you want to be up there. Website explains how long everything takes. We ended up racing through in a quick hour because we could not deal with the tour groups and wanted to get a seat on an early train down. We did enjoy Grindelwald First but a caution about the activities. Wait times of 90 min to 3 hours means you likely won’t get to enjoy them and leaves you feeling ripped off. Just go to the top. Enjoy the cliff walk and a cold beer on a scenic deck. Far more enjoyable than waiting in line to ride a Go Kart or bike.

Firstly don't book in advance we paid over £700 for three tickets and the weather was terrible, and really not worth going up if not able to see anything, I feel like I wasted a lot of money.

Secondly don't bother paying for the reserved seats on the train for the return journey, the train was already full by the time it arrived at grindelwald, there were no reserved seats available which we had paid for and we had to stand, which was rotten experience.

Thirdly don't bother attempting to eat on the mountain, bring a packed lunch, you will queue for ever and not get a table in the self serve, in the restaurant once seated you will wait ages for your order to be taken and which is not cheap and really small portion.

If like myself you don't do well in crowds consider being the first up on the mountain, we arrived at the top at 12:15 and the area was manic with tour groups, it was hard to escape them and I found the whole experience unenjoyable.

Without the views and ability to walk on the glazer (the weather was so bad, it was unsafe to go out on the glazer) really no point going all that way and paying a premium, honestly I wished I had spent the money doing something else.

The one thing I did enjoy was the ice Palace, but it crowded like everywhere else and certainly not worth paying what we paid just for one nice part.

For reference we went on a Saturday at the end of June, I would urge you to really consider what you want to gain from going to the top, because at CHF 275 each, I don't believe it is good value for money, maybe I would of felt differently if the weather had been better.

We booked on the official site, works out much cheaper than agency tours.
Booked the 2 way ticket from Interlaken Ost to Jungfraujoch - Outward journey was via the Eiger express and return via Kleine Scheidegg. I was confused with itinerary re: how the Eiger express worked until I realised that it's not a train, its the mountain gondola (cable car) for a few miles up the mountain. Breathtaking scenery from the gondola, really worth it.
Up at the top, the Phoenix observatory was great.
Well worth the day for the effort and the expenses!
(If you plan to eat at the top, will cost you a fortune! And the food is rubbish too).

Surely this can’t be managed by a Swiss company. Today Monday 24th June- Complete chaos, unorganized and just down right a total sh*t show. Today was the biggest waste of time. How can you let so many tour companies book, overtake the trains and ruin everyone else’s day. Everyone today was yelling, screaming, pushing and acting like animals. So many other nice places in Switzerland and for the well overpriced ticket it is not worth to go to a place that does not take any duty of care of people. (Witnessed older people pushed , my father over 60 who has a bad shoulder shoved into a lift trying to get to a view point and is now in pain all night!) honestly how is this allowed! Should be ashamed and I can’t believe after calling hotline desk while waiting forever in line and wanting to give up and go back down from eigergleitcher absolute no care given and not even possible for a refund. Please just find a reasonable humane limit of people for the day and block others from buying tickets online. Seat reservation should be included in the ticket and not an extra option and then it would be more organized for time slots, just charge an extra 10 chf per ticket and get your company more organized!! Paid a stupid amount of money today for 3 people to stand in line all day. I would have had a better day with my parents who came all the way from Australia to see some top Swiss locations and this was just embarrassing. I live here in Swiss and I was embarrassed for you today Jungfraujoch.ch. If your company is Swiss you know yourself you wouldn’t allow this kind of service. Unbelievable

Totally nightmare getting on the train. Woke up early to get the third train up the mountain as the first 3 were meant to be the least crowded. For such an expensive ticket you would expect a much more efficient system. Waited well over 2 hours in a crowd of people to get on a train. Such a turn off. There were 2 staff managing over 600 people pushing and shoving to get into lines. We waited in what we thought was a que, watching countless people push in. Why they didn’t have more staff and designed lines all the way to the entry is a huge quandary?
This is such an over priced tourist trap!!!
Yes a very beautiful place but such a waste and a pity this Swiz company is so greedy and disorganised.
I think with better management (eg they could have all trains reserved and seats pre-booked for one set price.) this would be a worthwhile experience.
Don’t waste your time or money there are much better things to do in the mountains.

The views are amazing. I was lucky with weather as it way bright and sunny. If it is no problem to get up early you can chose the good morning ticket, it is a little bit cheaper. You can make a seat reservation but on the early - good morning - trains it is not necessary. I thinks it is worth starting with going to the hut and enjoy the views, the snow, the ice... it is a rare occasion (for me at least) to be as high as 3500 metres. When you hurry up you may experience it it is better to take your time (I could feel my hear racing). Do not miss the zipline! Inside you can watch historic photos and enjoynice ice sculptures. Before leaving you can have a look of the stores and buy some chockolate however in my opinion the best thing is to spend as much time outside as possible and to memorize the views of the glaciers and the snow-covered peaks.

We were very fortunate on day we went up as it was a sunny, blue sky day. So risky with weather and if it’s overcast there really is no point in heading up there so I suggest not purchasing tickets until either the day of, or day before at the earliest as high elevation weather changes so quickly it’s impossible to plan in advance and this is a very expensive trek. Worth it if clear day. We went up early, 9am, as many said early mornings are best for clear skies before clouds roll in. Also fewer people. The ice cave is cool if you’re up there but wouldnt really recommend paying to just see this. Read many reviews saying the trains are confusing but we found the signage adequate. We took the cable car halfway up which you board at the ‘Grindelwald Terminal’ train stop. Note this is not the Grindelwald stop ..it’s one before that. We were staying in grindelwald so had to take train one stop to get to the station with all the ‘Top of Europe’ signage. Maybe this adds confusion. Can take the cable car or a train to halfway spot where you switch to the cogwheel train that gets you to the top. Booked 90 minutes when buying our tickets online which was more than adequate to see it all without rushing. The cable car option shaves 25 min off the route. On way down we got off at the halfway point where cogwheel train stops and had lunch on patio with amazing views. We used cable car the rest of the way down ..again to save time.
Hope that helps others as I googled plenty looking for details on how it all worked beforehand but it really wasn’t necessary .. good signage if you start at the correct grindelwald ‘terminal’ train stop.
