The Thai Team that takes care of this beach is very nice, water is clean and warm. During the week is not full, its almost like a private beach.

Hidden Gems near Bangkok

Koh Samae San is taken care by Thai Marines and is one out of the nine islands under a royal project of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn that preserves the plants and animals of the sea and island The island is taken care by Thai Marines. We based ourselves in Jomtien beach and took 45 mins drive to Khao Ma Jor Pier in Sattahip and only 10 mins riding in a boat to the island. The fee for the boat was 300 Baht for adult and 220 Baht for a child over 3 years old. This includes the entrance fee to the museum. We arrived at the pier around 8:20 am and got the first ride at 9 am. The boat carried a only 100 passengers per trip so plan ahead during peak period. They sold drinks and small local snacks on the boat and the officers gave you a brief of the island with sense of humor. On the island, we did snorkeling - 50 Baht for 30 mins, kayaking - 100 Baht per hour, 15 mins ride on glass bottom boat to see the corel under - 20 Baht, and just enjoy the beach and crystal clear water. Easy lunch (run our fast), instant noodle, snacks and drinks are available on the island. Shades and caKids really love the island.

The museum closed to the pier consists of 5 building, well maintained and educational, but at the same time took me a lot of sweats with slops and steps. It’s like a scenic hiking trail at the same time; however, my boys who are 10 and 4 did it just fine, and it leads up the the amazing view at the top.

Good Beach!
Apr 2019
We had a day trip from Pattaya to Ko Same San on Saturday. It took us one hour and twenty minutes from Jomtien Beach to the pier near the Thai Island and Sea Natural History Museum. We had to park our car outside the museum. We bought the tickets for the boat and the shuttle on the Samar San Island. The ticket cost 300 Baht per person. We took the last boat to the island at 1 pm. The boat was about 15 minutes. After listening the summary of the island, we took the free shuttle to the Luk Lom beach on the other side. The beach is nice and clean. However the new restrooms were under construction. We had instant noodles and papaya salad for lunch. You could bring your foods to the island. We didn’t have time to hike the mountain. We took the last boat to the main land at 4 pm. We had a good time at the island. The first boat to the island is at 9 am.

The beach is looked after by the military, they have fixed timing of getting on the island and leaving it. Peaceful but small place.

Nice place for snorkeling - one day trip
Nov 2018 • Friends
You will not believe me if you not go and visit there yourself. It’s just about 90 kms from Chonburi city and you will see clearly real under water world. The easiest way is get the package for 3 hours by speedboat and your happy time will be there with you for sure.

Crystal clear blue sea and clean island to relax for one day trip in Cholburi, Thailand
Oct 2017
Visit to this charming island is very relaxing and enjoy the clear blue sky. The island is reserve for a day trip only , can not stay overnight. You may stay at hotel near Sattahip area and go to the island from morning and back to the main land late afternoon.

As good as it gets round here....

A navy owned island about 10 clicks outside Sattahip.
Dual pricing with tourists paying a galling premium to access this island.
However, when you arrive it's a delight.
The navy will take you out snorkling and on my three visits this has been a free service, though I understand they now charge ฿100.
You're advised to take a some food or a picnic with you as food is limited.

The Forgotten Gem of Sattahip
Jul 2017 • Family
A beautiful beach with super clear water. Owned by the Thai Navy, this island attracts many tourists everyday. Snorkeling is recommended here, but you can also sit back and relax on the beach. There is also a sea turtle center on the island, where they raise young turtles and release them into the wild.
