This tour had everything that could be expected from cruising around one of the most beautifully scenic areas of natural beauty in the world. A fantastic boat with a friendly crew (we chose Standard Boat 1) who went above and beyond in every aspect. The food and service provided was top level, and we were really taken care of. Gonzales, our fantastic guide, was knowledgeable, charming, and made a great effort to get to know and bond with us throughout the trip, really making the experience a pleasure in every way.

The scenery you see is truly breathtaking, and I couldn’t stop pinching myself, especially when the wildlife was thrown in, such as the manta rays and turtles on the reef, and the famous komodo dragons living up their name on land.

I would fully recommend this trip to anyone - the landscape is as jaw dropping as anywhere on earth, and the wide variety of animals alongside the beautiful islands and coral reefs makes this a must do.

I recently completed a four day with Top Komodo. It was an absolutely amazing experience. The boat was well-equipped and comfortable and the boat crew (especially the cook) were fantastic. The cherry on top of the experience was our incredible guide Gonzales. His sense of humour, enthusiasm, and expertise shone through as he led us on a vast range of snorkelling and hiking experiences. He apparently had the local fauna on speed-dial: we saw everything we hoped to - from komodo dragons to manta rays. It was truly the trip of a lifetime - thanks in no small part to Gonzales. I would recommend a Top Komodo tour to anyone thinking of visiting the Komodo National Park.

An absolutely brilliant tour, filled with laughter and joy. Our guide and leader Gonzales’ humour, knowledge and joie de vivre elevated the already majestic scenery to a new level. Gonzales guided us to some fantastic spots, including, but not limited to a majestic coral reef and a mountain with a magnificent sunset view. We saw Komodo dragons, Manta rays and a plethora of other flora and fauna.

A great day. The weather played in our favor. I was concerned about bad weather being in the peak rainy season and not favorable to the dragons. We could not have asked for better weather, and the dragons came out to enjoy it. I lost count after seeing half a dozen dragons, including one to welcome us on the beach and one to say goodbye. There were some small, medium, and some big buggers! The staff were there to compliment the rangers walking us around.

Pink Beach was great. I am not a strong swimmer and getting water inside my mask will ruin any snorkeling experience. But I managed to get mask to fit reasonably well, taking on little water via mask or snorkel. I had mask so tight that when I took it off my friend looked at me as if I had been attacked by a shark, the mask impression was so great :-) But I snorkeled longer than most people and beyond where they recommended - only because I did not encounter any strong current as they warned. The fish and coral was great, and so close to the rocks.

I have read many reviews of similar tours, and those about P&O's who are conducted by a big Asian travel company. Everyone who went on a tour that day no matter which company said it was the best shore excursion they had done. So it was the weather, seeing the dragons and Pink Beach if applicable which made the day, not so much the operator. The tour of Komodo Island is done by the rangers, not tour operator. Tour operator staff only compliment the park rangers, and do a good job. The only other differences between tours is the type of boat used to go to Pink Beach (about 20-30 min away), any meal supplied and drinks, snorkeling equipment etc. It really comes down to the small detail such as paying upfront, ask Top Komodo about plan B ;-)

Please note, those reviews who talk about a long trek in and out and as waste of time obviously don't normally walk more than 300m anywhere. I am 64, average fitness, and the walk around Komodo Island was level, on a smooth dirt path, 50% under a tree canopy, stopping frequently to look at things (less if no dragons). It was a breeze. Having said that, I saw 2 women being stretchered out, and one on our tour leaning over a tree trunk to catch her breath, stretcher coming, (The rangers seemed well set up for this).

We did have a meal supplied on the way back to our ship, nice food and the skipper cut the revs back to give us longer to enjoy or meal. (P&O shore excursion did not include lunch), and it was about 2pm by this stage.

Our guide on our tour, sorry I forgot his name, was great. I spoke to Yosefina by email who seems to be the manager when making arrangements. I did contact another couple of operators about shore excursions, some obviously not big players and supplied little information, one was reasonable and probably a strong competitor to Top Komodo, but Yosefina offered the best options/solutions. Plan B ;-)

Everything about this Tour Company is excellent! Starting from their prompt replies to emails, they gave detailed and correct information upfront prior to booking. They accepted payment on the day, with honest staff who were also able to provide change in AUD!. Prior to the shore excursion, we were advised by P&O that they needed proof of payment for all tours booked non directly with the cruise line. I'm sure this was just a scare tactic by the cruise.... approximately 40 of us had booked directly with Top Komodo and had NO ISSUES. Top Komodo offered us 3 forms of payment, one of which was to receive an email prior to our tour showing "paid in full" to keep P&O Happy, whilst still allowing us to pay AUD on the day!
We kept to the P&O Rules by showing the ships front office a copy of our Payment but I"m sure that just got filed away in the BIN on the ship as nothing was actually really checked with the cruise, nor were our names even showing on the payment slip.
On the day of the tour, all Top Komodo Passengers were directed to one side of the meeting area of the ship and we (Top Komodo passengers) sat and waiting alon with all the full paying (Double the price) passengers with their tour stickers and groups of 50+ passengers struggling to get out of their chairs and up the stairs and out of the lounge, let alone getting onto a tender and trekking around the island.
What BLISS it was to sit in our small little group of like minded passengers.
We were off the ship by about 08:30 and saw our first Komodo Dragon on the tender as it strolled along the white sandy BEACH!!!! Upon arrival on Komodo, we were warmly greeted by Top Komodo in a lovely shaded area where they sorted out payments and gave us a rundown to todays tour. We were split into 2 x 20 passenger groups and met by a National Park Ranger who gave a brief talk, prior to us starting our 90 minute "trek". The walk around the National Park is EASY. There are set path ways and you will have 2 x Top Komodo Staff with you (Front and Rear) as well as a park ranger. The larger Cruise groups will trudge along at a slow pace, to the set route and leave the tour disgruntled about the whole experience. NOT the same for the Top Komodo Passengers. As we are smaller we can get into out of the way places, see way more Komodo Dragons as we are quiet and a small group. We are all given ample opportunity to take many many photos at all he sightings as well as the Tour Guides who will also help you with every type of mobile phone / camera as you stand by the Komodo Dragons. Their English is very well spoken and the whole tour is very interesting about the lives of these ancient dragons. After the "Trek", you will be sent through as small market selling T-shirts and souvenirs but they are not pushy and will accept USD or Indonesian Rupiah. They all sell the same things, like the stalls in Bali, but much nicer people!. You will then go back to the start point and collect your bags and then then the tour ends OR if you take the optional extra you will head over to Pink Beach. THIS IS A MUST. DO NOT SKIP THIS!!! Pink Beach was absolute amazing. Firstly, we boarded a wooden boat (two storey) and were provided with water and soft drinks as we headed around (about 10 minutes) scenic cruising (think Jurassic Park!!) to th Beach. We then dropped anchor and had a wonderful local lunch with fish, chicken, vegetables, rice and followed by fruits (ours was yummy watermelon). From here, you then get onto a smaller wooden boat with an outboard motor to head to the beach. Again Top Komodo, have a great spot set aside IN THE SHADE at the far end of the beach (away from the other tour operators). There are few touters on the beach trying to sell you the same stuff as the market but the staff at Top Komodo with quickly shoo them away for you. You are then given a set of googles, snorkel, flippers - all of which are excellent quality and plenty of sizes to chose from. There is no shortage of snorkling gear. You are then left to your leisure and Top Komodo Staff will again look after all the bags on the beach.
The snorkeling here is nothing short of AMAZING. The water is clear, warm and full of Fish and Corals. There is ample space for snorkeling and you can go where you like deep or shallow for as long as you like. This was the best snorkeling i've ever done and I think I was in the water for well over 1 hour.
After the snorkeling, you will small boat, back to the bigger boat (more bottled water supplied) and then you are taken back to the jetty to meet up with your Tender back to the ship.
This was a wonderful, wonderful trip and I can't speak highly enough of Top Komodo Tours. I would strongly recommend this company and I would definatley use them again.

Top Komodo gave us top of the line service for our shore excursion. Upon request, they provided the required documentation for the cruise line. Their representatives were easy to find and waiting for us with good signage when we exited the pier and approached the park. I appreciate that no deposit was required in advance as cruise itineraries and weather conditions for this tender port are not guaranteed.

We chose the "dragons only" option. Although there was a little confusion about the size of our group before starting, the person(s) in charge of collecting the $$ and checking in the participants was able to make a quick decision without delaying our group to "wait for more people".

Our guides were personable and spoke understandable English. They were also helpful with photos and sensitive to the mobility limitations of some of the older participants.

I would recommend this tour to anyone who is blessed enough to come to Komodo Island by cruise ship.

All in all it was a very enjoyable tour. We saw Komodo Dragos, learned a bit about local vegetation and had a good time.

Suggestion: Don't make participants walk through the "gauntlet" of vendors if they don't want to. Many of us have made multiple visits or really don't want any additional souvenirs. (Or if it is required by the National Park, then please advise in the beginning).

We had a fantastic day with Top Komodo tours. They were easy to find at the meeting point. Our guide was knowledgeable and most helpful. The boat was comfortable and there was plenty of shade for the trip out. The lunch onboard was delicious. But the best part was the snorkeling. Beautiful fish and healthy corals. Like swimming in an amazing aquarium.

Beyond my expectation. We had an amazing time at Komodo Island, the lunch at the boat to pink beach was fantastic. We get to taste simple yet yummy local Indonesian food while enjoying the breeze from the deck of a local boat. . The fish was caught yesterday night and the watermelon was refreshing.

Venna was an excellent tour guide and host. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and took good care of us in his group. He ensure we are safe while having the opportunity to see the komodo dragon as close as possible. The photo shot that he arranged for us with the ranger was excellent. He patiently ensure no one is left out! Well done Venna and thank you for the great experience. Were are also provided with all the required snorkelling equipment. They ensure all rubbish are disposed off responsibly to keep the beach clean.

To be honest, I was rather sceptical to arrange a private tour over internet and pay to a stranger. My fear was unfounded, PT Top Komodo booking staff, Yosefina was fantastic. So accommodating and provide the assurance that I need. Thank you Yosefina for making this happened.

We even get a gift (tshirt and post card) from the company despite charging us lower that our cruise tour! Highly recommended - honest, value for money and great tour company!

It was amazing! Great tour excellent agency.

Since we cannot enter the island without a tour, we found Top Komodo Tour. It was last minute and Sunday. Yosefina owner was very helpful and professional with quick responds and patience for all my questions. Confirmation of our tour was efficiently issued within an hour.

Our tour guide Venan was friendly, knowledgeable, spoke very good English. He and rangers was really serious with our security. Plenty of opportunities for good dragon pictures.

After the wonderful lunch on the boat, with a very pleasant boat ride, we arrived at Pink Beach. A lovely location and excellent snorkelling, another highlight of the day.

Komodo Island Trekking and Pink Beach Tour was an adventure we will never forget! We’d highly recommend Top Komodo Tours to anyone who are looking for an enjoyable and amazing experience!
