Had a brilliant day tour of the Komodo islands with this company. They took us to all the main spots, Padar island, Pink Beach, Komodo island (to see the dragons) and Taka Makasar. There were 3 opportunities to snorkel, firstly at Pink Beach then at Manta Point and Turtle Bay later in the afternoon. We were lucky enough to see 3 manta rays and 2 turtles, plus lots of fish while snorkelling. It included lunch which was very tasty, plus snacks and soft drinks throughout the day. Our guide Handri was amazing, fantastic at English and he was able to answer any questions we had. The boat was very comfortable and you could sit inside away from the sun when needed. Would definitely recommend this company.

Hello, Thank you for choosing Red Whale. We are happy to hear that you have enjoyed our service! Providing a hassle-free tour service for our guests is our main objective, starting from the booking process, transport, and to the tour in the national park. Apparently June is not the best time to see the Manta Rays, but we are very happy to know that you still could see them and enjoy snorkeling with them! Delivering the best service is the priority of our guides! We are looking forward to having you with us again in Labuan Bajo! Best regards, RED WHALE TEAM

With terrible weather in the area we were fortunate to get out for a day trip and we were even luckier to choose Red Whale. With their virtually brand new boat and helpful staff we embarked on a 10 hour single day trip taking in all the main sights; Komodo dragons, a pink beach, Padar and the 3 bays, snorkeling with sightings of turtle, a reef shark and the most majestic manta, not to mention the 1000's of other reef dwellers. The 2 local guides (Hugo and Andre) were excellent. Snorkeling equipment for all although would recommend asking for life jacket if not the strongest swimmer.

Because of the weather we didn't do their standard tour this was made up of what they could do and it was fantastic - yes it was whistle stop but we saw everything we could ask for.

Hello! Thank you for choosing Red Whale! We are glad to hear that our services met your expectations! Although the weather went bad, we strive to give the best for our customers by giving the best alternative destinations out of our normal itinerary. January & February are not the best months to visit Komodo National park, the two months are the peak of the windy and rainy season in Indonesia. The weather will get calmer at the beginning of March. You are very lucky to see the reef shark! The reef sharks are rarely seen on the snorkeling trips compared to the turtles and the majestic mantas due to their shy nature, most of them will swim away once they spotted any human. Hands down for Hugo and Andre, they surely know how to get their jobs done! Komodo National Park is enchanting just the way it is, we are just ensuring that all of our customers get the everlasting moment here by providing a well-maintained boat, a full set of snorkeling equipment, and safety equipment (life vest and ring buoy). We wish you a great day! Looking forward to having you again with us in Labuan Bajo! Best regards, RED WHALE TEAM

Mixed experience: The briefing at the shop was professional and very detailed. The boat was in a good shape, clean and fast. We went to the six beautiful places indicated on the itinerary and were back in Labuan Bajo in the evening. On the negative side, the crew seemed tired and not very motivated. When we went snorkeling, there was no safety briefing and also no safety instructions despite wind, waves and quite a strong current. At another snorkeling spot, the water was so shallow that people destroyed some Corals, which is a shame especially in a National Park. Two of the snorkels we received were broken, the third one was okay. The lunch was below average, tasteless rice, vegetables and cold chicken.

Hello, Thank you for choosing and recommending Red Whale! We are very happy that you enjoyed our services!! We tailored our daily Komodo speedboat tour program as best as we can to ensure the safety, time-efficient, fun atmosphere, and maximum experience for our guests. Our boat crews are surely the best in doing their jobs. The 6 destinations that we visit on a day (Padar Island, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Manta Point, and Turtle Bay) are the best that we can pick among other great destinations on the Komodo National Park. Have a great day! We hope to have you again with us in Labuan Bajo! Best regards, RED WHALE TEAM

We were staying at the Ayana who offered tours into Komodo national park but found the prices a lil too steep. We went into town and enquired with several operators for both diving and also land tours. I booked 2 diving trips with Blue Marlin. They suggested that we should go with an operator with a speed boat, not a slow boat as the trip to Padar Island will be 1h instead of 3h on a slow boat. They then referred us to red whale who was across the road. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and was advised that the tour was Rp1.2m pp exc national park fees which would be paid directly to the park when we arrived at Padar. They swapped our Kanawa Island and said there is not much there and instead replace it with turtle bay. 6 stops in total comprising of Padar, Komodo Island, Pink Beach, Manta Point, Mataram Island and also Turtle Bay.

On the morning, we were picked up at the hotel and we were informed that due to an accident the day before, we may not be able to head into Padar Island. This was true as I was on a dive boat the day before and came across the half sunken boat in question. However, they would still try and luckily we were allowed. The hike was moderate, most were covered by stone paths and stairs but further up it was loose rocks and dirt path. I did it in flip flops but i do recommend shoes. Coming down was tougher in flip flops.

When we approached Mataram Island, it was quite busy so the guides asked if its ok to take us to Manta point first as these boats will be heading there next, we said yes and that was a brilliant call. We were the only boat and they helped spotted the Mantas and we jumped in and saw 10 Mantas at the same time. 10 min later, 4 boats arrived and the Mantas scattered. We hopped back on board and they asked if we would like to still go search for them. We decided to proceed to Mataram Island and it was still relatively busy and went to the sister island instead. The sand wasnt as soft but made better photos with less crowd. Turtle Bay was also a good replacement to Kanawa, we saw several giant turtles with the help of the guide who gave us a 90% guarantee that we will spot turtle. We spotted 5 in total and they were beautiful.

Our boat only had 7 customers, and lunch was served in a reusable lunch box with rice, meat/fish along with veg. Water was served in a metal container and we were offered coke and cakes. Towel was also provided along with snorkel equipment.

I have zero complaints and it couldn't have gone any better.

I chartered a boat for the day tour to Padar Island, Manta Point, Komodo Island and Pink beach for a friend and I during our short stay in Labuan Bajo. Whilst it was pricey it was a fantastic experience, Wen our guide and her two crew were an absolute pleasure to deal with and very accommodating. We saw plenty of manta rays, turtles and of course the Komodo Dragons and often had places all to ourselves which was great. Wen took us to a different Pink Beach to where most tourists go as apparently it's not that pink anymore due to people taking the coral and it was fantastic to have the whole beach to ourselves and it was very pink! Also, I accidentally left some items on the boat and didn't realize until later that night around 9pm and they very kindly brought them to my hotel that night as I was leaving early the next morning even though it was the first day of EID and a public holiday. I highly recommend Red Whale if you want an amazing experience! :)

We rented private boar at Red Whale.
We decided to go for Red Whale after searching in Tripadvisor, seeing its website & talking to the owner. (While others seemed shady, this one isn’t).
The store opens from 12pm onwards.
The boat was clean, engines are new, crew & captain was experienced.
We had such a great time!
Lunch was average Indonesian home-cooked meal.
Will definitely recommend Red Whale to anyone!

Labuan Bajo currently has 55 dive shops and Red Whale wins! With my 170 dives completed across the Pacific and other I see none topping this one. Igor, Lidia, Yetno, Andre, the boat captains, the on boat support and even the drivers are a true team and everything is synched with the customer in mind. The 4 boats are in great condition, fully equipped, dive gear and equipment are all new enough and the diving was good with all 9 of my preferred dive sites nailed. Sightings were plenty varied included 5 manta rays, devil, sting, eagle and blue spotted rays and cuttle fish, octopus, white tip sharks, turtles, wrasse, morays, and plenty of smaller including nudis. A first time for me was the ornate ghost pipe fish and now check off the list! Day 4 I joined the speedboat tour with Padar and Komodo the highlights although the latter can occasionally be a bust we did see dragons. Overall a perfect 4 days and let me not forget the warmth and humor that Indonesians bring to their interactions and those great locally made boat lunches. An all around professional and fun dive and tour company. Thanks, Igor and team!

We contacted Red whale via WhatsApps and was very impressed with their professionalism. Our trip departed at 6:30 am with a small boat of 8 people, the speedboat is fairly new. The trip was quite smooth until the last point in "Turtle City", my friend was "forgotten" by the guide when everyone snorkeling.
From the very beginning, we asked if it's possible to snorkel meanwhile we can't swim ? The guide answered that if we can swim a little bit, then he can support us. At Manta point we didn't dare to go down but at “Turtle city” everything seemed better so one of our friends decided to snorkeling there.
But just a few minutes after getting in the water, the guide was busy with 2 other guests who were very good at swimming and diving to find sea turtles and left our friend alone. We and the crew were trying to call the guide to help my friend, he did not notice and continued snorkeling.
My friend was lucky enough to have been picked up by other boat of Red Whale and taken back to our boat.
Fortunately, there are no incidents but as a tourist we hope to receive more attention from the guide to avoid bad situation.

We booked the 6 island and 2 snorkeling trip and absolutely loved it. I’m not an expert at snorkeling myself so didn’t take part in those but still had a great time. I was able to swim in the ocean itself on several opportunities and never felt left out when I couldn’t by staying on the boat.
Hugo is a star and a true asset to the company he made everything fun and run very smoothly.
The food the tour provides was very good and there is water provided and several soft drinks and snacks are available.
Highly recommend, great value and memorable experience.
