We booked a 8D7N trip (5days on land, 3 days on sea) with Roberto and his efficiency and promptness in responding to our queries was what made us decide to go ahead with him. We didn't have much time to plan or research on this trip, and after travelling with Roberto (who became our driver for the trip) and our other guide Boe, I'm glad to say we honestly didn't need to because we were in very good hands! Roberto is a caring soul who wants to ensure that he can serve us to his best abilities and making sure we enjoy our holidays. Even when there were minor hiccups in the trip (such as a seemingly technical issue of the boat at the start of our sea trip), he immediately made calls to plan alternatives for us (boat was fine in the end so we didn't need to!) and personally welcomed us back at the jetty when our sea trip had ended. Boe (our main tour guide) is a cultural expert and his knowledge and passion to show the richness of the various cultures in Flores Island was something we both truly appreciated – his cultural commentary where ever we went made it a surprisingly educational trip for us (something we did not expect but fully enjoyed!). He has taught us much on sustainable tourism and to also be able to see it being practiced in Bena and Wae Rebo villages was really quite remarkable for us. For the both of us, all we were looking for in our holiday was just to be wowed by nature for a break from the hustle of city life, and Flores Island definitely achieved that and gave us more; we had the chance to interact with a lot of the locals (thanks to Roberto and Boe for being our translators) and get a better glimpse into their culture via these two local Flores Islanders and taste so much good food! (The best food I can recall was our first night at some random warung where the nasi goreng looked deceptively plain but the rice was so fragrant; and another random warung that was hidden by banana plantations from the main road but their fish was grilled so tastily; and of course the fish market at Labuan bajo! Going with Boe and Roberto was so helpful in navigating which was the best stall!) Would definitely recommend this trip 100%! If you're thinking of coming here, please do ensure you cater some time for the land trip! Some unforgettable places are: LAND TRIP: • Mt Kelimutu • some local hot springs around the villages • Bena Village (interesting village where through the help of Boe we managed to have some small chats with the locals, great fun!) • Wae Rebo Village (plan to start earlier in the day because the hike up can be quite steep so you wouldn't want to arrive too late, and you can't book your overnight stay in the village as they are disconnected from telecommunication so it's first-come-first-serve. And you'd definitely want to stay overnight there - their coffee is amazing, and the night sky and dawn is such a surreal experience there! Also, do make sure you have a way of speaking in Bahasa Indonesia to communicate and engage with the villagers there!) SEA TRIP: • Pulau Kelor (steep hike but short and very nice view!) • Rinca Bay (to see the bats daily migration!) • Komodo Village (would highly recommend coming to the village instead of the National Park because the villagers seem more familiar with the dragons than the rangers at the park who seem more set on helping you take a photo with them - unless that's your kind of preference instead!) • Pink Beach • Padar Island (for the sunrise but hello stairs) • actually snorkelling anyway around Labuan Bajo's islands. For a first time snorkeller, I'm told by my husband that I've been spoilt by how clear Labuan bajo's waters are and how rich their coral habitat is. I still can't believe I got to see sea turtles and a manta ray (up close) in those three days! (We took the cheapest boat and just note that it'll be a shared toilet with a bucket to flush the loo but everything was very clean!) Overall, I would highly recommend Discovery Komodo Adventure! We are both very grateful for how well they've taken care of us and have allowed us to experience the beauty of Flores Island in such a comfortable way! The only non-positive feedback we have are: • do ask what is required of each activity / day, because we were taken aback that we had to pack a smaller bag for Wae Rebo overnight stay (but it's probably because the two of us were just under-prepared. It was a small matter anyway, and Roberto and Boe also tried to make sure our concerns were addressed so all was good, service 100%!) • For the land tours part, accommodations are more eco-friendly nearer to the volcanoes and hills, so just bring insect repellant and clear your beds of any potential insects before you sleep! The hotels do provide mosquito nets and sprays/mosquito coils, so I'll have to say it wasn't our favourite experiences, but it was worth to be able to see the sceneries we have seen (:

The 4 day 3 night Komodo tour was truly a 5 star experience. Firstly, the views the moment one set foot on the boat were breathtaking. Lying on the upper deck and watching the mountains and rolling hills of the islands slowly pass by us as we sailed was unforgettable. One of the most memorable experiences was watching the bats fly from the islands into another distant island as the sun set. After that, the night sky gradually began to bloom with stars as night fell. We even saw a shooting star. On the second day, we jiked padar island. The views from the top of padar island was amazing, the neverending sea in the distance, the surrounding mountains on the islands, all of these made for a view that was out of a lord of the rings movie. After that, we went snorkeling at a fee islands. At one of the islands, we docked at a pier, and walked a short distance to the cove. The corals in that cove were ethereal and colourful, and were the best corals i had ever seen in my many snorkeling trips overseas. In addition to the multitudes of fishes, we even saw a green sea turtle resting on the soft corals. It was so close that i could dive down to touch it. On the third day, we were taken to see manta rays at Manta point. With a bit of luck, we managed to spot a total of 3 manta rays. The first manta ray that we saw was truly gigantic, and we thankfully managed to spot it while it was in shallow water. I could dive down to be within a meter of the magnificent creature, and saw its deep black skin close up. It was a once in a lifetime experience. On the next island, we saw so many turtles that it became a common sight. The guide ryan, was accommodating, informative, and helpful. He often helped us carry our bags, and provided detailed information about each of the places that we visited. The food on the boat was delicious. We were served local Indonesian dishes, such as fried fish, stir fried squid, etc. The fruits they served was fresh, juicy, and sweet. Sometimes, after snorkelling, we would come back onto the boat and be served a delicious snack of pisang goreng(deep fried banana fritters). The air- conditioning on the boat was surprisingly cold, and allowed us to have a restful nights sleep. The shower and toilet facilities were basic, with us having to flush by pouring water in a bucket into the toilet. However, they served their purpose well enough. If you are looking for an unforgettable, once in a life time adventure in paradise, be sure to book a tour of the Komodo islands with Discovery Komodo Adventures
