About
Komodo has amazing diving with fish filled and nutrient rich currents. Some dive operators shy away from the currents, avoiding sites when and where the current is present, and avoiding Komodo’s best diving! At Current Junkies we know that the currents are one of Komodo’s defining features. With the right gear and preparation current adds to the dive, not hinders. The currents bring an opportunity to witness Blue Planet like pelagic feeding and hunting unmatched anywhere else in the diving world!

Current Junkies is one if not THE best Live aboard I have ever done.
That there are only space for 4 divers creates a feeling of intimacy and one really get to know each other. Also that they try to mix divers with a similar level of experience on the trip was something I really appreciated so that every diver can get the maximum experience of their trip.
The price puts it in the medium or budget price range but is exceptional good value for money. But what you want form a Live aboard you get and more. There really isn´t any reason to look further then Current Junkies.
The food was really good and the boat staff was friendly and helpful.
Emma the dive guide and Cruise director is nothing less then a super star. There has been a log time since I was as impressed by a fellow dive professional as I was by Emma. The way she planed, prepared, briefed and lead the dives was not less the inspiring.
Thank you CJ for a wonderful trip

Really fantastic trip I had on the Busy Girl. Food was incredible day in and day out in with enough for me to eat that I had to tap out every night. Henry is great at providing a ton of variety and making you feel like you're getting Indonesian home cooking with each meal.

The boat has everything you need and more and I can't recommend it enough against other liveaboards. You end up paying double the rate with other crews all for a pretty exterior on a boat that you can't see while you're on it. If you care about diving and that's your number one priority, save yourself some scratch and get the same, if not better, experience diving on a smaller boat with less people to cater to.

After all, the less disturbed the dive site is, the more you're going to be able to see, and with Yunus as my divemaster, I was able to experience it all and have the trip catered to my own preferences. He was fun, thoughtful, and prioritized safety in a way that I never felt like I was in danger in spite of the high currents.

We just completed a 5n/6d trip on Busy Girl. The diving was awesome and this is largely due to Nick, the dive guide, who really knows Komodo and its dive sites.
Nick got us onto the dive sites before the other liveaboards arrived, so we had them to ourselves. This is important as some sites can get busy.....The diving was safe and we were always well briefed. The onboard crew are a great team always there to assist you and Hendy the chef keeps the food coming....komodo lived up to its reputation for the whole marine spectrum from grey sharks to Nudibranchs and lots of Mantas...Highly reccomended if you are an experienced diver looking for some memorable diving...

I have done about a dozen liveaboards around the globe and my trip on the Busy Girl probably ranks as the best trip of them all. Komodo is a great place but with a small boat and guides who really know the area inside out it gets even better. Each trip runs with max. 4 customers (we had 3 on our trip) and 1 guide. We had Martyn as guide and he certainly lived up to the expectations and all the good reviews I found. Current Junkies also make it a policy to either be alone on dive sites, or at least first in the water (on some busy sites in the north it's virtually impossible to be alone) which gives you a higher change of seeing the cool stuff. They also visited the south of the national park which few boats do. They really adapt to the experience level of the divers on board to get the best mix of wildlife, fun and adrenaline (but always keeping things safe).
When it turned out that I was quite a bit better on air than the other couple Martyn often sent the couple up and stayed down with me for 5-10 longer. By the time we came up the excellent crew had already picked the couple, brought them back to the Busy Girl and was there to pick us up with the dingy.

The busy girl has a crew of 3 amazing and friendly local guys (captain, cook, mechanic) and although it's a small boat the cabins are big. You also get to visit the dragons (on Rinca), go for a sunset walk or give "scurfin" a try (great fun, highly recommended). On the way back home they didn't mind stopping the boat to let me snorkle among a group of manta's... basically, nothing ever felt too much for these guys.

Anyway, I could keep going on but there's no point. If diving is your priority, just pick these guys...if you want a big boat with a jacuzzi and a helicopter, go somewhere else (and maybe just stay away from Komodo NP).

I joined Current Junkies for a cruise in Komodo National Park in May 2015. And it was... unbelievable! Nick is a very experimented dive guide, diving in Komodo waters for 5 years and he is assisted by a super awesome local crew: Iwan (captain), Bas (engineer) and Hendy (cook). The dives are ones of the best you'll ever get, with an incredible biodiversity, from very tiny animal until the big ones. You will understand the true positive impacts of protecting marine areas!

The Busy Girl is a very nice and comfy boat and the food prepared by Hendy is just delicious. Being only 5 divers max onboard (including the dive guide) is just perfect to enjoy an underwater journey without 30 divers around.
However, even though Current Junkies are VERY experimented to dive in the current, will give VERY clear briefing and ensure safety at all time, I would not recommend that kind of diving for very beginners. If you are already a confident diver, you can go with them without asking yourself any question.

An experience that will never be forgotten. I am already planning to come back diving with them again.

To sum up, I loved the dives, the food, the boat, the crew, the ambiance, the landscape and much more. Go for it!

There are not enough superlatives to describe how wonderful this trip was. The area is incredibly beautiful and the diving is sensational, but doing the trip with Current Junkies iced an already delicious cake. The boat, the Busy Girl, was fantastically comfortable and run with enormous skill and expertise by the crew: Iwan, Bas, and Hendy were all tremendously friendly and worked very hard to make our trip an enjoyable one. Nick, our guide, was utterly brilliant - both fun and professional, always giving informative briefings before taking us to spots that we pretty much always had to ourselves, and ensuring that our dives were always exhilarating and varied. I loved absolutely every second of this trip. Waking up to the sight of dolphins racing alongside us as we sped through the water; diving amongst huge numbers of mantas (and snorkelling with them during surface intervals, too); seeing a hammerhead shark and seeing how excited Nick was to see that too....I could go on and on. If you want to go to Komodo for diving (and why on earth wouldn't you want to?!), then book a week with Current Junkies and have the trip of your life.

I’m currently doing my divemaster trainee on Gili Air and decided to come to Komodo for a week of diving. I’ve been to Komodo before and while I had a great experience last time (Scuba Republic liveaboard), this week is one I won’t easily forget in the best way possible. It was only two other experienced divers and myself and the itinerary was hand tailored to our interests and experience level. Sean, the stand-in cruise director and guide was excellent. He’s done over 1000 dives in Komodo alone and knew each dive site and the tides like the back of his hand. Knowing how the currents can be during a full moon week I was a bit apprehensive as to whether I was experienced enough but Sean’s briefings and guiding made me feel 100% comfortable at all times. Above water he took the time to socialize with us during surface intervals and play cards with us at night, making us feel truly welcome on the boat. Matt, whom Sean was replacing was the cruise director on my last Komodo liveaboard and the same applies to him. The rest of the boat crew was great and the food delicious and plentiful. The boat is not the most luxurious but it was perfectly comfortable and the staff did their best to meet any requests we had. If you’re an experienced diver looking for a small scale and custom tailored week of thrilling diving, don’t hesitate in booking on with Current Junkies. These guys are the real deal. Communication prior to the trip through email with Linda was effortless. Thank you all for an amazing week, looking forward to my next trip aboard Busy Girl.

Busy Girl is a great little boat and all you need to hit the Komodo NP dive sites. The crew on board know the waters very well and can maybe even show you some sites that no others are diving. You'll see everything from mantas & schooling fish to pygmy seahorses & frogfish. They also show you a different Blenny on every single dive, which we thought was a tad odd at the start but soon realised that often the prettiest fish are overlooked. Make sure you ask for the chef's special of mudah or madu, depending on what you want. The question needs to be timed well and I felt that 2 in the morning got the best response.

This trip was the highlight of my 2 month journey through Indonesia. Our time on the Busy Girl was just perfect in every way and that was due to two things.
1. The crew and dive guides are just fantastic. We were lucky enough to be only two people on our trip and have two dive guides to take care of us. Nick and Aleksi were great above and below the water. We had very elaborate briefings, the best I've seen so far anywhere. They where always very focused on safety, but without forgetting the fun. Above water we laughed so much that at one time I almost had sore muscles. In the evenings, after diving you have the opportunity to try skurfing (especially good of you have slightly congested sinuses) which is great fun, go for a small hike on one of the many beautiful small Islands or see the dragons on Rinca or Komodo. Alternativly you can also just hang out on the very comfortable boat, watch the dolphins and have a beer... What's not to like? The crew of the boat are also always there to help and assist in every which way you can think of, and in some ways I hadn't even thought of. Hendi dishes up delicious and plentiful meals, even catering to vegetarians. Man, slightly shy, but always sporting a smile. Bas, quick to help you with your gear and tug you around on the skurf board ;)
2. The underwater world of Komodo is incredible. We swam with Mantas, which circled us in just a few cm distance, saw huge amounts of schooling fish, sharks, lots of the fascinating "muck stuff", you name it...

All in all, there just is no reason not to go diving with Current Junkies

Wanted to do this for years and finally made it! Thanks Elli for he nice selection of the dive group (4px) and the quick responses. I think we all enjoyed this very much. Thanks DM Nick and his ATeam for finding the lonely spots each time and for letting us jump right into the action with Mantas, Sharks and Trevallies. And even some mug diving to find my ambron scorpion fish. Very good and detailed briefings to get us prepared for safe diving in currents. Good food, nice relaxing atmosphere wih some me time on this cosy boat. Thumbs up and well done!
