I’ve had better snorkeling, it’s very shallow though so for beginners is ok. They claim to charge you 100.000 just to sit on their chairs and there is one hut which sells waters and snacks. Would Hard pass if there were other options like spending...More

This was our last stop on our tour with Alexandria tours. Beautiful snorkeling out 200 meters from the jetty. You can swim off the beach but snorkeling is much better out off the arrival jetty. Small shop for cold drinks including beer. Very pretty spot
We visited Kanawa as part of a daily trip around the islands, the water is great for snorkelling and plenty to see there.
The beach was spotless and the whole place was almost deserted so we really enjoyed our peace and quiet.
This is one of many quiet islands in this area with a beautiful beach and crystal clear water. We found it a perfect place for snorkeling on our 3 day and 2 night excursion. The coral reefs and sea creatures below were fascinating! The water...More

Frankly, by traveling that far, I'd suggest just taking the tour ( or just hanging out on the beach, we saw Komodos on the beach, not the tour of the park). It's a long boat ride to only see two spots (at least add in more stops for the same price, I'm sure you can get a guide to throw more in, also you'll be going with a group and they'll probably have a longer itinerary than Padar and Pink Beach).
As for guides, you can walk around when you get there and find reputable ones. It cost 400,000 Rupiah/ per person for a full-day tour to Padar, Komodo National Park, Pink Peach and Manta Point with lunch, snacks and water ( Komodo park fee was NOT included)
Hi, I will be visiting Labuan Bajo next 14-19 of august with my kids and friends (5 total). We want to make a trip by fast boat to Komdo Island, maybe another trip to Rinca. But we want to snorkel also. One of the options is to go to Kanawa Island for a day trip because you can snorkel off the beach there and it should be very good I read. Can anyone tell me how to get there for a day trip with 5 persons and what it can cost? Any other tips for snorkling are welcome too.

Hi, Never done it, but Kanawa Island Resort tell me it's 450,000 IDR for a private charter. Don't know if it's a fast boat though or how many it will carry. Possibly email them as they are quite good at info and replies. Snorkelling is indeed fantastic off the island. Trust me - you'll wish you stayed there for a night or two :)
Seraya/Kanawa-Labuan Bajo (5 Replies)
I was thinking of doing a loop from Labuan Bajo to Seraya, then Kanawa and back to LB. Or LB-Kanawa-Seraya-LB instead. Is it possible to go between Seraya Island and Kanawa Island without going through LB? Thanks.

Amed: good snorkelling? (1 Replies)
I am going back to Bali in May and I was wondering how good the snorkelling was in Amed? What kind of fish can I expect to see? I went to Kanawa Island on Flores last year and the snorkelling was outstanding. I don't expect the snorkelling in Amed to be as good but I'm hoping it could be fun enough. Thanks!

haven't been to kanawa but was at bidari and seraya and amed isnt as good. still there are a number of snorkelling spots and it is okay. there's a few spots along the coast towards candidasa that look okay too but haven't done them. thee are a few offshore islands from candidasa that are different but currents can be very strong. worth looking into nusa penida - some good spots there.
