Azul Komodo! If considering a dive centre this review is well informed and comprehensive. In 8 full days of diving with Azul (24 dives) I completed my open water course, advanced open water, nitrox, and rescue diver and participated in two days of fun diving. The instructors, office managers, boat crew and chef were consistently good at their job and welcoming. In my 8 days I had the pleasure to dive with countless other students and fun divers, which all mirrored a similar experience. It isn’t without good reason that Azul’s review status is five star.
The manager Stefan was flexible towards customers needs. He was easy to chat too and appeared only slightly as a mystical diving guru. He did a great job tailoring each customers dive experience to their wants as much as fatefully possible against demanding factors like ocean conditions and boat logistics. He really made you feel like it was your experience rather than a set menu tour you were signing up for.
The instructors Marco and Jo-Anne are top tier. Mainly because they both wanted to create the next generation of high quality divers rather than just slam through the material. I only worked with Marco but was in close proximity to Jo’s teaching and could see she valued her students development similarly. Marco has a knack for explaining dive concepts to students in a digestible manner, always happy to review and practice as needed to ensure full comprehension. He was also available at times for guidance after work via whatsapp which isn’t necessary at all but speaks to his passion for teaching. His passion for diving is equally as riveting and is reflected in his deep knowledge of diving in general, safety protocols, equipment, aquatic life and environmental sustainability. I personally felt lucky in the sea of instructors available in the Labuan Bajo area to have been assigned Marco. Both him and Jo communicate very well in english which made it easy for english travellers. Marco also speaks German which you could see was well received by native customers.
If the personnel doesn’t sell you, the boat was very comfortable with a shaded lounge area on the upper deck. With breakfast every morning consisting of a savoury snack (often eggs/bread), fruit and pastries with coffee, tea and water on demand. Lunch was always a highlight with a variety of flavourful vegetarian options and local eats. There was always a tasty post dive snack to accompany your nap en route back to the harbour.
Couldn’t recommend Azul more for training and fun diving in one of the best natural dive locations in the world. I miss it already 🤙🏼

Azul Komodo provided an absolutely stellar experience for me and my wife, and we highly recommend them. I’m a certified diver, while my wife was completing her open water certification. The 2:1 diver-to-instructor ratio was a game-changer, especially for my wife, who felt anxious about getting certified. This personalized approach set them apart from other dive boats, which often operate at 6:1 ratios.
Our instructor, Stefan, was outstanding—friendly, approachable, and calm. He made sure we were safe while showing us incredible sights like manta rays and even took underwater photos to share with us. He set the bar incredibly high for what a dive instructor should be.
The boat had a relaxed, younger vibe (20s to late 30s) and was comfortable, with plenty of space to chill. The food was great, and they went out of their way to accommodate my wife’s food allergies, which really showed their care for our overall experience.
If you’re considering booking with Azul Komodo, you can expect top-notch instructors, a supportive environment, and an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

I recently completed my PADI Advanced Open Water course here, and it exceeded all my expectations.
The boat was clean and well-maintained, making every trip out to the dive sites comfortable and enjoyable. The meals provided were delicious provided onboard.
The dive course itself was both informative and fun. Our instructor, Stephan, was incredibly knowledgeable and patient, ensuring we fully understood each aspect of the course. The dive sites we visited were breathtaking – we encountered mantas, sharks, lionfish, frogfish, and more. Each day brought a new and amazing site, each more stunning than the last.
They also did provide complimentary dive on our last day. Azul offers the best rates in Komodo without compromising on quality, making it worth every dollar spent.
A huge shout-out to Stephan and the entire dive crew at Azul for their professionalism, dedication, and passion for diving.
If you're looking for an unforgettable diving adventure, Azul Dive School is the place to go. Highly recommend!

There are truly no words to capture what we experienced with Azul Komodo.
We started with our Open Water PADI course under Ricky’s guidance, and it far exceeded all our expectations. Ricky’s passion for diving and teaching was infectious—he’s not only an incredibly skilled instructor but also a genuinely fun person to be around. Thanks to his calm and positive approach, we felt comfortable right from the start, learning so much in a short time. We even gained the confidence to dive in more challenging conditions like currents.
We loved the experience so much that we booked another full day of fun diving, this time with Pius. He introduced us to macro diving, sparking an appreciation for the ocean’s tiniest creatures. After the dives, we bonded over a dictionary of tropical fish, geeking out over all the amazing things we’d seen.
A huge thank you to the entire Azul Komodo team and the awesome boat crew, who not only prepared excellent breakfast, lunch and snacks, but also made us feel so welcome. And of course, a special thanks to Ricky and Pius for making us fall in love with the underwater world all over again. We left teary eyed, but eager to return for our advanced course—or maybe even a liveaboard with them.

I spontaneously did my Open Water Diver here. The diving school is very flexible and well organized. The team around Seb and Stefan is super friendly. I enjoyed the family atmosphere on board. The boat, the crew and the food are great. There's no question that the diving area around Komodo is unique and breathtaking. It was a great experience to see manta rays and sharks up close during the diving training. Thank you very much for this great time.

I have to admit I almost never write reviews but felt obligated this time. There are a lot of scuba diving schools in Komodo and they are all good and mostly offer same prices. What made the difference for me it´s the people who work on them. Since inital approaching Azul it felt right. Stephan was really good and communicative about everything and the vibe was good since the beginning. I decided to do the advanced open water combined with live aboard trip and it was the best decision! Ricky was simply amazing, very experienced and amazing personality. I learned a lot and thanks to his amazing ability to spot things we managed to see a lot marine life, including the most wanted Manta rays! the whole trip was amaing including the boat crew and the amazing food we had on board. I cannot recomment this school enough!

Overall amazing!
I can highly recommend this dive centre to everyone who‘s looking for a trustworthy and well organised compamy as well as an amazing experience.
I felt really well taken care of and Ricky made sure to always show a map of the next dive site and explain what there is to see and gave all the relevant information.
I booked spontaneously the day before and the communication was great.

Welcome, you now have access to the other 80% of the planet!
The guys at Azul are incredible, we did the Open Water PADI course with them. Our instructor Stefan gave us the calm and tranquility of experiencing the underwater world. A few hours of practice in the pool allowed us to be calm and enjoy the wonderful adventures of the following days. Departure by boat from Labuan Bajo 3 dives a day with different depths, we were never rushed and we were able to learn very, very nice from being able to assemble our equipment from scratch. Crew very attentive to everything even to food! The diving in this area is incredible, between the immense manta rays, the sweet turtles and the harmless sharks it was incredible. For the sixth dive we even sailed, the current was indescribable, it was like flying!
Thank you guys for letting us become part of the PADI world with so much care, attention and above all passion!

Our liveaboard experience was 2 of the best days of my life, no exaggeration. Cannot recommend enough. The diving experience was out of this world, the crew were all exceptional and we felt so well-looked after, the boat was epic and the food was some of the best we've had in our whole Indonesia trip! Gear was all great, felt very safe, our divemaster Anton was attentive, fun and kind. Worth every penny and more.

I had an absolutelly amazing experience with Azul Komodo! Within our stay in Labuan Bajo I achieved my Open Water and the Advanced Open Water Certification with Azul. To top it off, my fiance and I booked a 2D 1N livaboard with them and I can honestly say we where perfectly happy with everything. Great instructors (special thanks to Simon, Stefan and Ricky who where extremly good teachers), top gear, cool crew and amazing food on their nice boat Biru Asmara. 100% recommendet! :)
