Impressive city and majestic rocks!!! Very lucky to have a tour guide who literally revived the dead stones and forced them into the depths of the centuries. The tour took a little over an hour, but my husband and I spent another three hours in this place.

A very interesting and unusual place with a rich history.
I read a lot about Chufut-Kale before going here, so I chose the easiest route - we went up in a jeep and then went down to the monastery.
But even this light option can be difficult in hot weather. One of the members of our group, who was without a headdress, fainted. Therefore, be sure to bring a hat and a bottle of water per person with you. Sports shoes with non-slip soles are also needed, especially if rain is possible.
It is not very interesting to watch without a guide, especially since a lot of buildings have survived.
Nevertheless, the caves are certainly impressive. We partially listened to guides from other groups while we were resting.
Definitely worth a visit!

WHAT HAPPENED HERE???
Always, when we are in Crimea, we come to this unique place!!! We came for the February holidays and what did we see.. As soon as the monastery territory ended, a continuous picture of garbage began: plastic boxes, dirty bags, ruined former trading places and other garbage !What a shame to lose such a Unique Place! Of course, you can organize volunteers to save this place from ruin, but who allowed this to happen? Are there officials who keep order....

Interesting and disappointing!
While the church built into the rock was incredible
To see the actual
Cave town closed to visitors at 3 pm. We arrived at 3 pm only to do a 1.7 hike and to find it was not open. Not well signposted. No InfoRmation in English.

Had to walk about 1.5 km from the cave monastery and some up to hill but nothing too difficult - just have water with you! You need to buy a ticket (cash only) to enter the museum site and you can join a tour guide to get the most from your visit. It is very old and I am glad they didn't touch it up yet so you can see the real history! Amazing view from the very top - almost 360 degree view! Must visit!

Fantastic place, caves, fortress and cities (old/new). Great mix of cultures: pagan, muslim, judish. Unique nations combination placed by great people movements. Deep feelings of historical touch. Karaites/karaims mystery culture is one of the most interesting fenomena in my opinion. Karaims moves from Iran to Crimea and to the Lithuania. Place should be developed as the great museum and center of ancient civilization. Hope that necessary investments will take the place soon together with english guide facilities)

This sight is definitely must have to see. It's almost do not touched by modern times, therefore being here is like to back to past centuries (even millennia). Some of cinema producers use this fortress as natural decorations.
It's also must to be here for fascinating views of entire Crimea landscapes.

Its a good walk, steep in places. but there is plenty to see both on route to the Cave Town and inside the walls. One suggestion I would make is to visit the well which is just out side the entrance to the city, it was a real high light of the day.

Здравствуйте! Слышала, что можно подняться на Уазике наверх и потом по городу спускаться пешком. Так ли это и сколько стоит УАЗик?
Written August 1, 2020
Здравствуйте. Да, эта так. Уазик стоит 2500 вне зависимости от количества пассажиров. Завозит наверх, спускаетесь вниз пешком, дальше уазик отвезёт Вас до ресторанчика, если захотите.
