We loved our brief tour of the Prometheus Cave in Kumistavi, Georgia. What was particularly impressive were the polychromatic lights and awe-inspiring music which accompanied the tour. Our guide was also very knowledgeable and friendly which also added to the experience. There were some magnificent rock formations in the cave which I simply loved and would recommend this place to everyone which only takes an hour or so. My only gripe here was they were late in opening the place to the public in the morning.

Loved it. The caves are huge, stalagmites and stalactites are very different and beautiful, the lightening adds to the effect. And the sound of underground river just makes everything right. We abandon the organized tour very quickly and enjoyed exploring the place on our own

You have to go with a guided group through these caves which is a shame. The group we were in was too large, it took ages to walk from viewpoint to viewpoint. Also, the guide only said a few words when the group had stopped and it was in English but not understandable - the speaker system was no good and the guide wasn't clearly spoken. It's a shame because the caves are really spectacular.
We had planned to go on the optional boat ride through the caves but there wasn't enough water in the river when we were there.

I ended up on this tour because the people organising it didn’t put me on the correct one. Even though I did ask again before boarding the bus. Anyway, this cost more money than the tour I had booked. And I really don’t know what the payment is for. You basically sit in a van for hours and hours and look at a cave, which you have to pay more money for. It’s such an expensive trip for not much.
The last stop is very nice, but that’s it. The food place wasn’t good either.
The guide and the driver were great but I would not waste my money on this tour.

I did not expect much, apart from the fact that I read about Prometheus... :) and couldn’t find any connection of the greek mythology and this cave ;)
It’s a very nicely organized attraction, with guided tours starting every hour in January. Our guide was very concrete and spoke many languages (english, russian and some words in polish too).
In the biggest rooms where the group stops, the music plays and thereis a “light show”.
The boat rides were cancelled while we were there due to heavy rains - but we thought it was a very nice option.
The cave is really big and different limestone and clay formations really work on one’s imagination.
The walk is 1,4 km long and it’s warm inside (14 degrees celcius).
The shuttle takes you back to the main parking.
All in all it was very nice!

What a fantastic cave. Takes you about 45-60 mins to walk through it. There are a lot of stairs and it’s really wet and slippery but it’s totally worth every step. Really a gorgeous place. The stalagmite and staling tights are just incredible. A stunning place!
The guide however was shocking and walked off on everyone. One family must have got scared 5 mins in and turned back and the tour guide had no idea.

In Georgia people will say, we have it, so you should visit it. Well.. the cave was good, but not that good. I appreciated the chance to go, but the group size was nearly 100. Easy to get lost, cannot see the guide, but that is ok. But when it was time to explain something, there were only like five English speakers in a sea of Russian tourists that ask 1000s of questions leaving little time for the rest of us to understand the cave's history. The groups need to be better organized. But the cave itself is not bad. Worth a go.

The underground cave is located forty meters below the sea level and has a constant temperature of fourteen to fifteen degrees Celsius throughout the year. It is famous for its stalactite and stalagmite formations which are beautifully and colorfully lighted up using artificial lights.
The guided walk is over a kilometer long and you can also take a boat trip on an underground river for the last part of your journey. The walk is mostly on narrow and sometimes slippery walkways. So it is best to wear non-slip footwear.
Along the walk are several large caves or halls including one where you can get married. Most of the halls are named after local or Greek myths and legends. The high humidity in the cave is supposed to be good for patients with certain respiratory problems.
There are some ancient rock paintings near the entrance. If you plan to take pictures, you will need a good camera since flash photography is not allowed inside the cave and normal phone cameras will not work in the low light.
The cave is beautiful and definitely a must see.

We had to wait 45 minutes for an English speaking guide. The group was quite big, especially taking COVID measures into account. The cave itself was pretty big and beautiful. The light show didn’t add much to its beauty in my opinion. We took a boat trip at the end. It lasted about 10 minutes, but was a little adventure. A walk back would probably be fine too.

Can we visit the cave on first week of January? Or would it be difficult due to snow or closed roads? Thank you xxx

Best to call before going. It should be opened as the road getting there is well paved and there is a boardwalk through the cave.
How much does this cost
