- mlmdaisyOdessa, Florida20,087 contributionsSomething uniqueThis is a very nicely designed venue and the tour was quite good. The experience is a very polished "touristy" one, but we enjoyed it. It's difficult for me to criticize any efforts to recycle waste. There was a very good gift shop, although prices are very high for the area.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 23, 2023
- Daniel ABeijing, China35,067 contributionsYour kids will love itThis was one of my children’s favorite attractions in Chiang Mai. The entire place is dedicated to teaching you about the process of turning elephant waste into viable products, particularly paper products. There are many souvenir items you can get that your loved ones will find unique. My children amazingly listened to the tour guide explaining the process of converting feces into products. They enjoyed the hands-on experience immensely and particularly enjoyed making their own keepsakes (extra fee required). If you have children and are visiting Chiang Mai, don’t miss Elephant Poopoo Park.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 27, 2024
- dunblane_andersonsDunblane, United Kingdom347 contributionsFun and interesting visit! We had quick stop to the park on the way back from our morning with the elephants. We were guided around the park by a very knowledgeable guide and learning about how the paper is made. We had a go ourselves and made some paper. There were plenty of great activities for children which looking fun. We visit the very reasonably priced shop on the way out and had fun picking some souvenirs for friends and family. A great place to visit and a good laugh.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 26, 2024

It was only 150bht per person to do the tour but you were free to wander and check out the gift shop & cafe if you preferred. We did the tour with Peter and it was great. It was fun and informative. We made a sheet of paper and learn’t how to peel it successfully from the drying rack as well. There is a DIY area where you can decorate your chosen item/s yourself and an art studio. Good clean bathrooms. Overall we were really impressed. Kids would love all the poo references and being involved. It’s a well run environmentally friendly business.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 9, 2024
- harlemfamilyNew York City, New York737 contributionsGet ready for poop jokes...This place is indeed unique - they show you how they recycle elephant poop to paper. I was completely grossed out but also fascinated. I did not want to touch anything, but my husband participated. However, I have to say that their real message is the need to be aware of the environment. They have a plaque that says it all.... "we will be known forever by the tracks that we leave". For this alone it is worth the visit. BTW if you have kids you should definitely come here - the kids seemed to love it!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 30, 2024

A must if you are travelling with children, or if you want to find out more about eco projects. - The Worldschool Family - Adam and Linds115 contributionsA fun day at Elephant POOPOOPAPER ParkThank you, Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park, for an incredible experience. If you are in Chiang Mai, make sure to visit Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park. You won’t be disappointed. We learned how to make paper out of elephant poo, and our girls absolutely loved it. After learning the process, they did a DIY project and decorated journals made from the recycled paper. It’s amazing how this process works and how much paper they are able to recycle and reuse. We highly recommend a visit to Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park!Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 31, 2024

Had an amazing time at the Poo Poo Paper Park today! Amazing to see the dedication to sustainability and education. The staff was incredibly friendly and passionate, and speaks amazing English. Our tour guide Pete was an absolute star! Although most reviews say to go with children, I would highly recommend this to any adults with an interest in sustainability too!

I personally loved this park, as a person who loves arts and crafts. I found it very interesting on how you could make paper out of different types of poop! The tour is about 30 minutes long which seems like a short time, but they did explain everything very well with out being rushed and had hands on experiance which was cool as well. once the tour is over they do allow you to go back and do everything again if you want to.

We visited here on a school trip and it was good for students to learn about the process of making paper from fibres. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. There activities at the end of the tour so the kids can take home a souveneer. There is a small cafe here for snacks and drinks and a store to but other products around the theme.

Stopped here when we saw it on a bicycle ride and were so pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Friendly and informative staff did a great tour explaining the sustainable process of making paper from elephant poo poo. It was hands on and we had a go at making the paper. The tour took 30 mins but we could stay and read more info afterwards, we then sat for a while and decorated a card to buy. The gift shop was full of paper products to buy, all reasonably priced. The cafe was also lovely with coffee and snacks. Highly recommend!

Great experience and my 4yo, 7yo and nearly 9yo really enjoyed it and getting hands on. Our guide around was funny and really great with the kids whilst explaining all the stages of their paper making. The crafting after is fun and great to contribute to a good cause, there’s no pushy sales and the cafe is really reasonable with a small play area next to it also.

Great time with our three kids (3.5,6.5,10). Was really interesting tour (we reserved online for 11am but got there at 11:15am so they put us into the 11:40am tour. We used the time to look around the gift shop which was interesting - you can personalise your own things (bookmark/notebooks etc) at the DIY station at the end of the tour so I advise only buying at the shop after the tour. Guide had great English and kids (and ourselves) enjoyed it. The DIY station at the end kept our girls busy for over half an hour and should we have purchased more items to decorate (they cost between 100-350 baat) they could be busy for hours. There was a small park that added another 20 mins of play, fish feeding for another 10 mins and then a cafe so we were able to pass a lot of the day here and we all had a great time!

We had a wonderful time visiting and had a very good guide, who explained the whole process of making paper from elephant poo.
We even had the chance of making paper ourselves once with the guides and then on our own.
We highly recommend for families or just adults like us.
A great idea in these times of recycling

Written June 14, 2018

Asides from the 100THB entrance fee, are there any other fees we have to pay for the guided tour?
Written July 23, 2017
Sorry for the slow additional clarification from us. Asides from the THB 100 entrance fee we indicated above there are no other fees or charges to enjoy a guided tour of Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park....unless you wish to purchase snacks, and/ or drinks at our cafe or should you wish to purchase any souvenirs from our gift shop. We do have some DIY crafting and art activities within the Park that there are additional costs for but it's completely up to you whether you choose to participate. Hope to see you at the Park!!!

Is there air conditioning? We are debating what time of day to visit.
Written March 31, 2017
Hi
I did not go for the tour to see how it is processed 😳 but there is definitely no aircon in the front entrance area where the little shop is . If I remember correctly there were fans .

How long did the tour take?

The Elephant PooPooPaper Park has 2 areas - general merchandise area and outdoor paper-making facility which is accessible only with a tour guide.
The tour is very family-friendly and takes about 45min (or more if you take choose to take part in the activities at each station) covering all phases of the paper-making process:
1. Collection of animal manure
2. Drying of manure
3. Disinfecting of manure and conversion into paper fibre
4. Coloring of fibre
5. Paper-making
6. Drying of Paper
7. Paper Products Workshop
During the tour, you'll also learn about how the park operates in a eco-friendly and sustainable manner.
At the workshop section, you get a chance to make your very own paper products such as bookmarks, greeting cards and book covers at a nominal cost. However, you need to set aside more time.
The park is located outside of the city area. Thus, going there is easy, but returning may be challenging.
Beware of cabbies offering to fetch you to and from the park. I was charged 600 Baht which is about USD17 - 18.
I suggest that you give Uber a shot. It'll be much cheaper than taking cab.
Avoid Grab at all cost. For some unknown reasons, Grab is 1.5x to 2x more expensive than Uber in Chiangmai.

There are many options to get to POOPOOPAPER Park. You can take a red bus tour, a tuk-tuk, private car, taxi, scooter/ motorbike etc. We're about 12km north of Chiang Mai city centre, right next to Tiger Kingdom atthe beginning of the Samoeng loop. You can rent a scooter almost anywhere in town but if you need a specific suggestion let us know where you're staying. You can call us at+(66)53299565.
