The charm & architecture of Beihai Old Town
Jan 2019 • Friends
Although called Beihai Old Street, I would call it Beihai Old Town. It is comprised of three old streets making up the National Historic and Cultural City. As explained on a sign in the area, it was originally built in 1821. During the Sino-British period, it was an international trading port. Today, it is more of a tourist destination and fishing village. Better than Old Street, I liked walking down the alleyways, where the buildings and walkways truly look ancient.

Nice place to stroll around

The old street is one of the best places if you are visiting Beihai. The street is full of old buildings with the western look which they have preserved and the street is full of barbecues and cold drinks so you don't have to find a place for the meal. The street foods are good and a great place to take some cool photographs and upload in the social media.

A unique architecture
May 2016
It is not common to see preserved buildings in China. This old fishing "town" is full of charm, and this old traditional street is just nearby the sea. A great place for a relaxing time, full of culture.

"The Architecture is breathtaking!"
Feb 2017 • Couples
I am an American but maintain and spend most of my time in Beihai. This was my first visit. It was worth the wait. The best part was the Architecture of the buildings, that I thoroughly enjoyed. However, there are excellent restaurants, at very reasonable prices, and the little carts on the streets have some excellent prices for necklaces and other nice gifts. There are many "treasures" to be found in the stores and small alley-ways. Don't miss them. There are also numerous bronze statues that tell stories of history that was made in Beihai. From Black & White movies to "Introduction of Sculpture." (See attached)

If you are lucky enough to visit Beihai, do not miss "Old Street". Put your walking shoes on.

One of the greatest places to enjoy old Beihai.

Interesting place
Historic street with bars, restaurants and shoppes. Tourist area so pricey but some interesting things to see in terms of antiques and food. Worth an hour or so in the evening for a stroll after dinner.

worthy visiting in beihai
Feb 2012 • Family
Beihai is my hometown. I go back for family reunion every 4 months. The old street is near the Haijing square and the waisha seafood island. It has become more and more famous because of it's colonial Western buildings . And it has become a bar streets now, with a busy nightlife after 9:00Pm. it also is a good place to buy the tourist souvenirs.

In one day, you can see the different pictures of the street:

Quiet in the early norming, with the wind blowing from the sea.

then shops of drinks and snacks, tourist souvenirs open , visitors comes, start busy

At noon, visitors less, strong sunshine, not so confortable, better have drinks in the shops.

Evening, good for walking after dinner, lights on ,
late night Nightlife starts.

Visitors like buying the tourist souvenirs there in the morning and evening . and in the afternoon, sure better go to swim in silver beach or Haigang beach, where there are less people. After that, go back to the downdown for dinner, Waisha seafood island has many restaurants near the sea , which price is relatively higher but have a good environment .
