Overall, a wonderful place to holiday and relax. Well worth a visit but choose your location carefully. The beach stretches in a wide curve for about 2 miles and basically the further you are from the town centre by the church square, the quieter it gets. Watch out if you rent a beach house close to the town centre - lots of night-time activity, not all of it too enjoyable. Fine if you like skateboarding, dog-fighting, kids hanging out and vomiting, overt drug-dealing. Keep at least 300m from the town centre and you should be fine in one of the many poussadas, beach houses. You can get some great rental deals on beach-houses, especially if you are a group of 6 or more. The buses to and from the resort are frequent and reliable, shops are plentiful, not too many restaurants but a couple of good cheap ones by the beach. Good for watersports, para-gliding, weather and fun. Buy cheap fish from the fisherman in the morning - very nice. Watch out for jellyfish, when it's cloudy - they don't like the sun! no mosquitos in November, too windy. But the weather is perfect 25-28degrees.

Armação is very nice for kids because there are almost no waves . The main problem is the infrastructure of the city: in January normally you have days without water at the rental houses . It is also a nightmare to find supermarkets without big lines .

The beach is nice with a beautiful view of he island Feia and Itacolomy .when sky is clean you can also see the city of Picarras, Barra Velha and São Francisco. Sometimes the sand is very dirty and looks like the frequency of sand cleanliness is not enough. Since the beach has mariscos plantation sometimes water is also dirty full of sea grass

Stinky beach, full of dead fish. Fish of various sizes. Beach with many stones in the sand. Algae, all bad things, but the worst thing was the smell of dead fish. If you are thinking about going to a beach and then going to Beto Carrero, you will regret it.

Armacao de Itapocoroy is my favorite beach , for many years we come here and love it ! The bay allows great swimming ... it is a wonderful place to learn it , if you don't know it already ... Sun and long walks along the white sand beach , your feet refreshing in the water ... great swimming - Great Family Place !!! - The main avenues run behind the first and second row of houses along the beach, so the beach is safe for children to play and everyone to enjoy it , there are no cars or motorcycles ... no noise ... just the waves of the sea ... The green trees lining the beach offer a beautiful lush natural setting ... You can swim far into the sea , no danger ... Great for relaxing , canoeing , boating , sailing ... swimming ... walking ... fishing ...
Make sure to walk all the way to the middle of the bay , passing the Big Rock called "Fortaleza" directly on the beach ... You can climb it easily but pay attention not to slip ! The beach is very different if you walk to the right - or the left - side of the Fortaleza as you will see ...
I do recommend taking some time off just to relax and reload your energy !
If you want , you can visit the Park Beto Carrero World for 1 day , they have many attractions there ... Visits are free on your birthday ;-) ...
The Pier is close to the fishermens village , a colourful place at the east end of the beach , with colorful fisher-boats dancing on the waves ... They will bring in the fresh catch of the day , just watch them came back from the sea ...
We recommend the restaurant "Pirao d'agua" close to the little white church on top of the hill close to the fishermens village ... Great seafood , traditional from the Azores ... Wonderful @ sunset ... - Another great place to have a sun-set time dinner is the " Petisqueira do Alirio" , with generous big plates of very fresh seafood ... Close to the Pier , and also the fishermen village ...
Enjoy watching the sun setting on the beautiful sea of the bay ... it's magical ...
Hope you'll enjoy it !

more like and estuary than a beach, but nice to walk in the evening along the pathway bordering the edge, with lighting and some local craftspeople making and selling their crafts. Five or six restaurants are along the road, and there is a tranquil neighborly atmosphere of locals and tourists visiting. many small wooden traditional fishing vessels are moored in the bay, giving an air of olden times...

The sea is perfect for kids and the temperature of water is delicious. But leave water and food because is difficult by something there.

I have been on this beach for more than 20 years, I come back whenever I can. The beach has a kiosk that opens in the high season and some holidays in the middle of the year. Of course there's always the fishermen pulling the net in front of the Camping.
