So lovely I had to do it twice!
So … I’m 66 years old and kinda fat … do I wasn’t gonna do the summit walk! But for an old broad, the circuit around the base was excellent—NZ fur seals, cormorants, and adorable grade-schoolers on field trips—and I was so enchanted that I did the :45 circuit TWICE—once each direction! You should, too!

World class walk!! Absolutely stunning views from all around the mount. Can be windy, rainy, or very sunny. Bring appropriate gear and comfortable shoes and a camera. One of the most beautiful sites in the world.

Lovely way to spend a couple of hours
We thoroughly enjoyed this gentle walk around the base of Mount Manganui. We took two hours to do the walk because we stopped frequently to read signage and to take photographs, especially of the attractive rocks and scenery near the start of our anticlockwise walk. We'd recommend this activity to anyone who enjoys a long but easy walk.

    Most Peaceful Place to Be
This is my wife’s and my favourite spot to visit when we are in Tauranga. This place is beautiful no matter what time of day you come. Be prepared for decent hike to the top. However the hike itself is also stunning and full of New Zealand's beautiful flora and fauna.

Great trail and decently accessible for wheelchair users. It’s a little steep in places but the surface is good and formation wide. Minor assistance required on some of the short steeper bits but one of the better 3 km tracks around for wheelchair users. Give it a crack with a little help.

Now here's a walk we'll remember for some time. Best of both worlds. We had a gorgeous late afternoon to walk. Cyclones in the Pacific had created huge waves breaking over the rocking shore ocean side. Topped off with an cruise liner leaving on the harbour side. How lucky can you get!

We stopped at Tauranga on our cruise and had planned to walk to the top of Mount Maunganui but as it was so hot we decided to do the base walk but climbed the mountain the following day when it was a bit cooler. This must be one of the most amazing walks in the world. Beautiful fauna, birds singing, seals sleeping, native trees, cargo ships and cruise liners entering and leaving port and more. Amazing views. Do not leave Mount Maunganui before walking this 50 minute walking track. Highly recommended.

The beautiful (50 mins) coastal circuit allows sensational sea views. The rock scapes are simply beautiful. Rewarded with sea birds and a Sea Lion today along with pounding waves. The path is in good condition.

A very easy walk (roughly an hour) around the base of Mount Maunganui gives you some incredible views. The Pohutukawa trees also provide lots of shade on an otherwise hot day. Here are some of many photos we took — they don’t do it justice!

The base track is a suitable walk for all levels of fitness with no stairs now that the repair has been made on the north side. We even saw Oscar tje sea lion asleep on a log.

The time limited is accurate for a leisurely stroll at 50 mins doe the 2.6km

Have walked and run around the Mount base track hundreds of times over the years and it never disappoints. If your in the Mount for the first time it's definitely worth doing, as well as walking up the Mount. Great views.

I thought this was a most wonderful walk. It is quite long but you get beautiful views throughout even though the path is well shaded. The path is wide and very easy to walk along. It was so lovely to see many young families on this walk.
