The road to Chillas from Naran goes above the mountains and passes through the highest point in Kaghan Valley, the Babusar Pass also known as Babusar Top, which is the highest peak in the Kaghan Valley (13,700 ft.). The route to Babusar is on the Mansehra-Naran-Babusar-Chillas highway toward Chillas, the drive is mesmerizing in itself as the marvelous River Kunhar is flowing along the route on the left and the mountain covered with Alpine Forest is on the right. The road till Chillas is paved and smooth, except for some bad patches. Babusar is the highest peak of this route at the height of 13,700ft, and then the road toward Chillas starts ascending. While travelling upward on the mountain the weather starts getting colder & colder. Riding for almost 5 hours, from Naran one can reach the Babusar Pass. This place has frequent snowfall and rain all around the year, except for winter when it is completely blocked and in summer the weather can be sunny and windy. The road to Babusar is open from the middle of July up to the end of September. At the Babusar Top the lush green plains, the clear water streams and the snow covered Rakaposhi along with the Karakoram Ranges can be seen. For those visiting Naran, I recommend them to must visit Babusar Pass. Do remember to bring the camera to have remarkable photography at this place.

Babusar pass is basically a peak of a mountain having height of 13,700 ft which is almost half of Mount Everest. Located just in the beginning of Gilgit. It is almost 35 to 40 km from Borawai. The roads is very well made but you should prefer to go early in the morning to avoid traffic and crowd on the pass.Do look out for the whether, do not travel in rainy conditions as it is extremely dangerous and deadly because of sliding and slippery road conditions. l visited the place with my family and have found it completely celestial..!. The cold chilly wind and fresh air with an extraordinary scene of tremendous mountains covered with light snow and clouds just before the eyes, mesmerised me.! I couldn’t take my eyes off of such a beautiful and heavenly scenery. The top is all clear there are no houses or hotels, just clear ground maybe a suitable place for camping. Some of the areas were covered with snow and rocks, which should be watched out for because they are slippery and may cause severe injury. One must definitely think of visiting the place and experience the mightiest forms of creation of Allah, there is nothing made by humans there, every single area and scene of that place echoes the greatness of Allah. I didn’t wanted to go back as the site had me completely captured but after all one has to reach back home.
I assure you that your effort to reach Babusar pass will be fruitful and you will be dazzled by the amazing scenes there.
I hope my review would be helpful.

At 13,700 feet it stands high above sea level and gets cold towards the evening. Babusar top point has many stalls selling unhealthy food options. The views are amazing and you can go for a walk. There is not else to do except walks and sightseeing of mountains.

This place has some amazing views of the valley. If you have small kids, don't stay here too long, otherwise enjoy tea/coffee and pakoray here. The winds are really strong and freezing and there is a lot of snow.

From Chilas one leaves the KKH and goes toward Babusar Pass. This is a "short cut" to Islamabad. Given the twisting road and sometimes large pot-holes it is an amazing trip. I think once was enough for me, but maybe I would consider it again if stopping to sleep somewhere. Otherwise, it was a marathon 19-hour drive from Gilgit to Islamabad - might have been less without three landslides. Stop at the pass and try the salt cooked maize, but make sure your blood pressure is okay. Glaciers, glacial lakes, incredible scenery - amazing trip!

Babusar Pass is a mountain pass at height of 13,692 ft above sea level. It is at the north east of the 150 km long Kaghan Valley at the edge of Lalusar - Dudipatser National Park in KPK connecting it via the Thak Nala with Chilas in GB on the Karakoram Highway. It is 65 kms from Naran and can be easily accessed by cars. During winter the road is closed due to snow. It is open from May till Oct.

There aren't many places on planet Earth where a proper highway crosses a point that is 13700 ft above sea level. Babusar Pass is one of those very few places.
Babusar Pass is an ancient route that connects Kaghan Valley with Gilgit-Baltistan (Chilas District). This route remains open roughly from end June to October; rest of the year it is close due to heavy snow in the area.
Babusar Top, the crossing point is 65 km from Naran city and 42 from the T-Junction near Chilas where it meets Indus River. Beware, the descend from Babusar Top towards Chilas side is very steep, one of the steepest that you might ever come across as you lose around 9000 ft in 42 km. Be very sure that the brakes of your vehicle are in perfect condition. Due to excessive use, the brakes usually heat up and therefore, period rest and minimum use of brakes (moving in 4x4 / low gear) is recommended. This portion is very accident prone.
There are many shops at the top where one can get enough to eat though the rates are on the higher side. The drive through Babusar Pass is a unique experience which due to the top quality road during recent years, has become quite doable. Highly recommended. Even if you are not going to Gilgit, just going to the top and coming back would be quite an event.
