Amazing spot in BGC that we found on pure chance!
Everything about this Japanese bar is great and most of it due the owner Francis who knows what he’s doing, he’s also there and making the greatest host we’ve ever met throughout our endless travels!!
Highly recommend to those looking for a small bespoke bar with spectacular drink range and different from anything found in Manila experience.
Loved it!

This place is a Superb Little Gem

Two trips to Manila staying in BGC and each time a great secret bar discovery ! Tonight it was Lit. It’s very much about Whiskey but don’t make this a reason not to drop in for a libation or two. This little gem of a bar mixes up cocktails, classics and contemporary, alongside and sometimes including, the whiskey. The overall ambience is relaxed and just feels right. Very organic and real. There is also a well thought out and superb small plates menu which complements the drinks. Drink, eat , enjoy! love the name too.

Japanese Whisky Haven; Romantic; Absolute GEM!
Oct 2016 • Couples
Drinks - amazing whisky variation, and whisky cocktails! they really know what they are doing here - not surprised though because the bar is owned by a man from osaka, who is always at the bar ensuring everything is going smoothly. the bartenders are really well trained!

Service - impeccable.

Scene/Ambiance - soooooo cute. felt like i was in osaka! the music is exactly what i would hear in a quaint japanese whisky bar in osaka or tokyo. the place is small and really exclusive and romantic. the decorations are beautiful and sophisticated. quiet, small and personal.

Value - YES. quality of EVERYTHING in the heart of manila!!

this is definitley my go to place in manila whenever i need drinks!!

Impeccable Japanese Whiskey Bar!!!
May 2016 • Friends
I've been in Manila for just over a month and have been craving Sake for a while... We were down on High Street in the Fort and a bro mentioned Lit, so we decided to check it out. Where to begin... The big wooden swinging door with what appeared to be a whiskey bottle with a lighthouse light on top called us in and once inside the decor immediately lulls you into comfortability and a sense of home. Two wood high tables by the door with wooden stools to accommodate at least 6 put together and a long bar with seating and 100 Whiskies behind the bar if there were 1. There is wood throughout and makes for a warm decor. The owner welcomed us and brought out the menu which in itself was detailed like no other. Whiskey, whiskey, whiskey and more whiskey. Bottles, by the glass, sample trays (Whiskey Flights) Region, history, remarkable. Pride. Care. Precision. They have appetizers - of which I did the Spicy Tuna Sashimi with baby crostini toasts - lovely. We followed that with the chocolate plate - also quite nice - six baby chocolates to enhance the flavours of our drinks. 1st. Sake Lychee Cocktails (with 2 big lychee in there - sweet, clean, crisp, cold. I ordered my craving and was met with 3 bottles and their description to a tee on sweetness, well roundedness, edge and choosing was no easy task but one I managed to pull off and opted for a hot sake out of sheer contradiction and was not disappointed by the result. I paired with an Asahi and melted into my own private happy place while my bro grabbed a Whiskey Flight and soared. Once again, three more bottles made it to the table and towered over their sample glasses and the education began. A brief history of the brand(s) and Japan doing its best to learn, develop, cultivate and age Whiskey as well as the Irish and the Scotts... They're still perfecting their process and we are lucky to be part of that. I will also note the chalk board next to the bar on the wall with Whiskey 101 classes for those who wish to learn and educate themselves. This is a place for those who enjoy the experience as much as the flavours. Nice Chillout House Music Vibe plays in the background providing a sweet ambient atmosphere for your escape. Think Café del Mar and you've got it. Don't rush here, this is not the place for that. But take heed, Lit will light you up and make you feel warm and fuzzy while hypnotizing you before you know it so be cautious - just a few drinks and you'll start to fly. This is 5-Star all the way, drinks, food, service and experience are second to none. Economics of Lit can go either way, you can keep it respectable or you can drop a house payment and either way it's worth it. We will be back again and again.
Arigatōgozaimashita - Thank you!!!

Japanese whiskey bar
Apr 2016 • Solo
Lit is a Japanese whiskey bar that just opened right after the big Japanese whiskey craze caused by Jim Murray's awarding of the Yamazaki sherry cask 2013. With that statement, the owners were already a step ahead of the game since Lit was already in the works before the Yamazaki hype.

The bar is headed by Francis Hasegawa. A sort of a hipster Japanese whiskey savant. A very interesting character who is fluent in English and knows a lot on Japanese whisky as well as other whiskeys. The prices are very reasonable here and the selection is great.
